Couple times I or someone I know bought something from this specific location just for the food item to have botulism. One time I can turn away but after a couple times from my own experience, it’s a problem. First time it happened I had let them know I bought it right off the shelf like that (quick rice in a package covered in black mold) I’m finally leaving a review after I bought can yesterday that looked okay but clearly had bacteria growing in it. I’ve also found plenty of canned and package goods that had punctures in it for sale. I try to bring it to their attention but they seem more inconvenienced I noticed rather than concerned bad food items are being sold. I understand mistakes happen but at this point they need someone to check the shelves more thoroughly because this is ridiculous. I’ve also purchased expired food right off the shelf under full price too. I know take extra precautions but i work for food retail, it’s basic procedure to make sure you’re not serving bad food. How companies still get away with selling dented canned goods and opened food packaging is beyond me.

I’m a regular customer at this location and have been so for a year plus. I love this store and how helpful every employee is except for the oldest women who works in the area where the hot food is sold. She’s beyond rude to what I’ve noticed all African American customers that purchases chicken or salads. I watched her attitude change immediately when serving other races and when serving African Americans and I was honestly shocked and disgusted. This has been going on for a while but today was extremely hurtful to witness. Someone really needs to tell her to leave her feelings at the door and be respectful of those shopping and spending money in this store. The next time this happen the higher ups will be contacted and proof will be shown. She’s too old to be acting so unprofessional and rude at a work place. It’s truly sad

I used to facilitate this location. I went there recently after getting information about allocated Bourbon. As usual the representative played dumb, referred to only telling his high school friends about my inquiries. It's a common practice but. Bad Practice!!! Don't go here.

In the last 12 months of over 10 years shopping here the amount of expired items adds up to about almost 1 out of 5 items you buy here. There was a stack of cheese that was 6 months expired so I threw it on another shelf, and the next week I noticed the employees had just put the 10 plus expired cheeses back in the spot. Cheese, nuts, chips, orange juice, sauces, bread, and more have been expired. I have wasted over 100 dollars at this store due to this, even twice when I used the pickup service I got spoiled food..Update, went back to grab things, ran into this item, was the first one on the shelf...Next update 3 weeks later, expired nutrition shakes.Update 12/2/23 expired milk

Pitiful selection of produce and the person working in the department couldn't even answer a simple question about the price of a product he went to the back and never came out. The entire store looked like people were stocking up for a hurricane. When I checked out the clipped coupons didn't come off and the kids working at the register didn't seem to care that they were basically stealing my money. Only got half of it fixed before it became so frustrating that we had to leave. So basically they still owe me 10 dollars. Buyer beware at this place.

I am a regular customer who shops 3/4 times a week. The front end brunette with glasses is very rude and always has a bad attitude. I have never ever been greeted or thanked by her, ever! Today I handed her a juice that was busted from the top. She was not doing anything but standing and told me to hold on with an attitude. All she had to do was take the damaged product. I have found so many damaged and out of code products in dairy. But apparently the night employees could care less. They need an attitude adjustment or should not be working with customers

Rip off. High prices unless you buy more than 1. (Rip off). Nothing in stock all the time. Employees who black entire isles so their job is easier, no cares about customers. Then the bagging experience. “Can you please not touch my stuff?”

U clip coupon system doesn't work properly. Just lower standard item price and stop the cumbersome digital coupon clipping.And store manager or assistant is a "No Show." Cashier called for manager twice and a call to store did no better - manager must be in hiding.

They don’t check code dates, and sell expired products. Ended up taking home a loaf of moldy bread that had a “Do not sell” tag on it and had to drive back to exchange.

Just nope. I'll start by saying I like the front-end staff (checkers, baggers, etc). However, my son has a birthday party today and they wanted $55 for half a sheet cake. An hour before it was supposed to be picked up they call and let me know they made a mistake and the toy toppers are not available and they'll give me a discount of...3 dollars.I'll go to Dairy Queen, Tom's, Walmart, Meijer, or anywhere else basically before trusting Jewel with another cake order.Otherwise, if you shop the sales Jewel has decent prices, especially on pop, but most of their other food and items are overpriced.

It's a typical Jewel-Osco grocery store! I have been going to this location when in route, or closest to my destination... Most of the employees are polite and helpful, especially at the deli in bakery. But all in all this business as a whole is ordinary but it supplies in stocks most people's basic grocery needs

This jewel is usually very busy and makes it hard to shop and parking the parking lot is very tight. The jewel is nice inside and it's as clean as any other jewel. The liquor department is good and has a really nice selection but a bit more than the liquor stores. The produce is good and has a great selection of fresh produce but need more organic produce selection. The deli is good and has a great place for lunch. The checkout is a little slow and they need more self checkout lanes but they have a good selection for you to choose from.

This store is two minutes from my house or I would never go here. If you go here for something specific, have a backup plan. Always poorly stocked on some of the most basic items. Apparently, the deli and meat counter close early now but they fail to post the hours so it's a surprise every time you walk in. Today, Saturday, the deli is closed a 5:15PM. Seriously? Weekdays, I have seen it closed before 6PM. Not sure why they even bother. Shelf tags are often old and/or incorrect. Never enough registers open. I could go on and on, but what's the point? It's been like this forever, except the new deli hours, but that just adds to the misery of this being the closest grocery store to my house. By the way, I've ended up at another Jewel when I couldn't go without something specific and they seem to have plenty of the item that this Jewel seems to have none of. Really calls into question why this location's inventory levels are so poorly maintained, when other locations seem fully stocked. Bad experience about every other time I foolishly walk in this place.

Jewl is very expensive compared to other stores like Walmart and target. The cashiers are really SLOW but that's the case with most stores. The have 4 self check out areas but they are always occupied. It would be great if they added more self checkout areas. The chicken wings and fries are really good.

Of any Jewel I have ever been to, this W Chi location, by far, has the most friendly and warm staff. Great selection and well-maintained store. I will often drive out of my way to come to this Jewel.

I have been shopping here for years. They have done some recent renovations that have made the store somewhat confusing. But the staff is more than happy to come and assist you in finding whatever you need, if you can find someone. Thats a problem in every store. You can find someone up front though. Self check out usually has no lines which is nice if you want to check out fast. All and all, its a nice Jewel. The problem is, its really small store, so selections are very slim. Its a quick in and out type shopping store.

Pricing is not as competitive as other local stores. Produce can be hit or miss, but the deli is always helpful. I do make frequent trips, but recommend paying attention to sales.

Close to home so that's a plus but out of stock on sale items more often than the St.Charles location and was waiting at the hot food counter to pick up some chicken and was told they close early now. Would have been nice to see the new hours posted so that I wasn't standing there waiting for a while.

One of the nicer original older style Jewel food stores I have shopped. The manager here is warm, friendly and makes the shopping chore seem fun! Good selection and fresh produce!

fruits and vegetables from the counter are expensive and i get it but they are not fresh as it should be, they are spoiled , hot sauces are spoiled as well. $50 bucks Threw to the thrash 😒

One assistant manager, or crew lead that is there on 2nd shift (he used to work at Ultra food in Wheaton before they closed) He is TOTALLY not professional at ALLL! Also, as well as the fact that he is antagonist....and loves, absolutely LOVES to mess around with customers with cupons...he has no customer service and I dread having to see or deal with him when I run in just to grab a few things.

Jewel app not customer friendly. Rewards feature hard to figure out. Checking out did not receive $5 coupon I should have. Manager called to register. He could not care less. “You didn’t do it right” was response. Asked him again following check out, what did I do wrong? Zero help, my fault. No interest in helping. Am sure it was my fault, but come on a little help here. That’s your job.

I prefer the West Chicago Jewel to the bigger one in Wheaton for a variety of reasons. Their selection is more diverse in many areas for some reason. They also don't get swamped like Wheaton and Glen Ellyn do so getting some is easier. The traffic flow into and out of the Jewel is also better than the Wheaton store.People are helpful, prices are good especially if you watch the sales.

A smaller store but carries most of the everyday necessities. Helpful staff. I would give this store 5 stars if the deli staff would learn how to shave the lunch meats thin enough, but they really do not treat this as one of their priorities.

I'm from Indiana, but an over the road trucker based out of Elmhurst, IL. Never had a bad experience or purchase at any of the Jewels. Really like those with fresh fish. Provides me the opportunity to cook my own, in the truck. Saves money and healthier. I also appreciate they allow me to park in the back or side to make my weekly purchases. I think I can say for other drivers looking to stock our trucks and go, thank you and your friendly employees.
