I just had my first baby here 2 months ago, the labor and delivery team was absolutely incredible. However, the postpartum experience was horrendous. I gave birth at 7:29 P.M. so pretty much right at shift change and as the night was ending so we were transferred to postpartum pretty late, the postpartum nurse on night shift was incredible. However, the next day was awful, the nurses were rude and impatient, our discharge took about four and a half hours. The two night nurses neglected patients and didn’t realize our door was open so we heard them talking about it and laughing at the nurses station. The bathroom/shower room (because the shower is just a faucet in the wall and a drain in the floor) was slippery and the water turned piping hot every time someone near our room flushed their toilet. The room was crowded and odd, my husband’s only options for sleeping were: a chair that didn’t stay reclined or a couch 10 feet away from the baby and I. The pediatrician on staff checked our baby and said he was “perfect,” come to find out at his check up a few days later, he had several things wrong that were not caught. They were not super serious but a couple of the issues had a domino effect and caused more serious issues. The entire staff treated my husband as though he wasn’t even there and my family as if they were an annoyance. If I ever have a child again I would rather drive all the way to St. Louis than come back to Good Samaritan and I definitely will not recommend anyone I know have a baby here because of the postpartum nightmare. Which is sad considering I had the best possible experience in labor and delivery.

My Emergency Room visit was horrible. I waited almost 5 hours, writhing in pain, in the “waiting room” which is actually a very public and open lobby. I was dealing with kidney stones and was in so much pain I was crying, pacing the floor, and trying not to be a disturbance to the people around me. It was humiliating. When I finally did get into a room, it was obvious how much pain I was in and it still took 25 minutes to receive pain medicine. What was offered to me initially did nothing. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for a second, stronger medicine. I ended up being admitted for 4 days because my infection was so severe. I will say that once I was taken a room, the care I received from all my nurses was excellent. One in particular, Sada was absolutely amazing. She was very concerned about my pain, checked in on me often and advocated for me if I felt like I needed something. If I need to go to the ER again, I will not be going to Good Sam.

I came in from ER at another hospital so went straight to my room. The room was nice and most nurses were great. I had one experience where at 3:30 AM the nurse doing my vitals put the thermometer in her own mouth which totally shocked me. When she left I looked at my monitor and she had a temperature so I immediately rang my light and reported what happened. I was never told if she was sent home but thankfully I never saw her again. I thought that was very unprofessional!! The rest of time I was very pleased with the concern the nurses had for me.

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. To begin with my Dr is top of the line. Love him. Won’t ever go to anyone else.I found out first of all I had to have narcan after my surgery because they couldn’t wake me up and I was down to 6 breaths per minute!I had a few very good nurses. But the CNA at good Sam are rough and have no compassion for their patients. They act like it’s an inconvenience when you press your call button.Let’s talk about the food. Nobody was asking me what I wanted so I was getting random food. I got three trays in a row without any protein. See below pictures. So today is my last day here and the CNA has made me cry twice. They brought my lunch and 9 minutes later came and took the tray back. This place sucks so bad I won’t be back here.

My dad was in the hosp a total of 26 days with a 2 week stint in rehab. Nursing care and OT/PT therapy were excellent. The one thing I have an issue is when he was on 4th floor a couple nights he didn't get his evening meal until 7pm. Also one morning he never got a breakfast tray. I understand this is being worked on and truly hope they get it straightened out quickly for all patients sake. I would have rated a 5 if it wasn't for this issue.

I didn’t have a real good experience in the ER. They rarely checked on me. I was in the ER approximately 9 hours. They gave me a room and then gave it to someone else. Once I finally got in the room, I was treated very well. All the staff were very attentive.

Best Hospital conditions I have ever been exposed to anywhere. Both the Doctors and Nurses were completely professional, courteous, and thoroughly knowledgeable in their fields. The room was the cleanest most up to date that I have seen. Even the house care workers were the most professional that I have ever seen. If I ever have to be hospitalized again, I will make sure that SSM is prioritised.

Labor & Delivery: I was skeptical about delivering at a big hospital but I will be choosing Good Sam Hospital for any future deliveries I have. I was able to schedule my induction with my preferred doctor. The nurses were outstanding, always ask for your consent and opinion before doing anything, and check on you often. Alyssa and Danielle really stood out to me, and all of their charge nurses were stupendous. By the second day I started forgetting nurses names, but there's about 5 more that really went above and beyond. Dr Taiwo is an amazing doctor who really altered the course of my delivery. If it weren't for her I wouldn't have been able to deliver my son in the environment that I did and I am forever grateful. Thank you good sam labor and delivery!

I will be forever grateful for the doctors, nurses, & staff at this hospital. My mom had a heart attack and went to Nashville first and then was taken by ambulance to SSM Mt. Vernon. They were prepared and ready when she arrived. Thanks to the dedicated staff for saving her life. She had 💯 blockage & had to have 2 stents put in. Every employee was so nice and caring during her entire stay. Greatly appreciate having an amazing local hospital!

Very little communication, all staff very upset when asked questions. If you can go somewhere else please do it, if you can't I'm sorry. Took 12 hours to get a room after a heart attack. With four of those hours being no contact from a nurse or dr.

I had a total knee replacement on November 8. My experience with SSM Good Samaritan from the time I checked in until I was released was absolutely wonderful. The nursing staff was very kind, caring, and professional. They explained everything that I was going through, alleviating many of my concerns. The physical therapist and occupational therapist were both wonderful, very cheerful people, which was a great pick me up for someone who is trying to walk again, while in tremendous pain. My very favorite experience though, was the man who came around in the morning with a cart full of toiletries and personal items. What a nice touch to be offered a toothbrush and chapstick!Thank you to all of the staff who cared for me, as well as a full floor of other patients, with compassion and professionalism.

Went to the emergency room with either a spider bite/ abscess, recieved no medication even after asking for some ibuprofen, had 3 RN attempt to draw blood after being non successful and determine veins were rolling was told they would "chase" them and after being stuck at least 10 times , I decided to relocate to another facility that I was told had "the correct equipment" , I asked for release paperwork and the doctor on duty stated he was the best and it took numerous back and forth a to recieve release confirmation, I was asked to stop speaking and finally 2 hours later realeased but never receive any medication and the experience left me feeling embarrassed. Absolutely do not go to the emergency room after 8pm in Mount Vernon SSM. Shame on y'all. You were actually mad not to be able to stick me another 10 times.

Extremely slow service, they definitely do not care about their patients. In the emergency room for 8 hours, still waiting for results.

Unprofessional the worst job I ever worked at they really need to be shut down investigated and reopened so they can get rid of all the messed up stuff they got going on. I hate to add this job on my resume because crystal Cooley and the manager under her mad I left and never spoke to them again after how they treated me now when I get new jobs they try and deface my character it’s only a matter of time before someone catches on to what’s going on behind closed doors.

ER visits are useless here. Wait times are 3+ hours for no reason, receptionist was extremely uncaring and spiteful. Try somewhere else if you want to be seen.

My mom was here in ICU for a few weeks, she had stage 3 lung cancer and her chemo had really taken a toll on her body. The nurse's and doctors, the respiratory staff, the therapy staff everyone was absolutely amazing to my mother and our family. In our moms last days they made sure everyone got to see her and we were very concerned about it as we have kids younger than the age allowed in ICU. There aren't words to describe the care my mom received but they were absolutely amazing with her in caring for her and answering any and all questions or concerns we had. My mom lost her battle but we are so very thankful for the staff for doing everything they could for her

I have posted reviews and you never get back to me, perhaps it is because you don’t like to hear what I have to say about your pathetic hospital and also your thieves at your billing department

My mother was treated in Good Samaritan the end of last year. They were able to stabilize her many health complications before releasing her. Dr Wolde, Dr Smith and several nurses whose names I forget, provided exceptional care during her two plus weeks there. Our family is truly grateful for the special care and treatment my mother and we received.

This hospital is a joke. My husbands left side of his face is completely numb, has been for days, he leaves work to come to the er finally cause it was getting worse, just for the rude Dr to come in and tell us there's nothing wrong! How do they know?!? Now this machine he's hooked up to has been beeping emergency for the last 20 min and they have yet to come check on it or at least turn it off, it's so loud! We won't ever be coming back here ever again!

A young girl having a mental health crisis went in to this hospital having a nervous breakdown and vanished into thin air. The hospital is trying to cover it up. Potential human trafficking happening out of this place. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Very bizarre interaction with the operators and head of security while trying to locate the hospital administrator to discuss a missing family member. It appears a nurse from this very hospital could have been involved in a potential abduction. This hospital is stone walling and refusing to even comment.I have never in my life encountered anything like this.UPDATE: I love how they added they wanted to discuss this. The missing girls mother, cousin, aunt etc have all been calling this hospital. Everyone is trying to get information on hospital policy regarding ER staff bringing psych patients home with them to their personal residence.Rachel Hall said “We do have policies, but I can not speak to them at this time”She assured family someone would bd calling who could discuss policy… 3 days later no one ever got a call.#helpfindGabi STILL MISSING DAY 7

Went into the ER with signs of early term miscarriage. Waited in the waiting room with an IV in my arm for 4.5hrs before being brought to a holding room(??) That wasn't even in the ER department(where I waited at least another hour) Then was told by the MD on duty "Well we can't even be sure you are pregnant(even though it was confirmed by my PCP), and at this time it's inconclusive as to if you've actually "miscarried"." They dismissed my concerns of excessive bleeding and cramping then told me to follow up with an OB in a couple days. Overall I felt as if I wasn't listened to and taken seriosuly or treated as if I was having a legitimate medical emergency. Very discouraging and stressful in an already turbulent and stressful situation.

We live in a small town in central Illinois approximately 100 miles from SSM Good Samaritan Hospital. Needless to say we were not very happy when we were told my wife, after experiencing a heart attack, would need to be transfer to this hospital because larger and nearer hospital were full and had no open beds. We’ll, we couldn’t have been more wrong in our quick judgment of this facility. From the time we arrived, we received the best service we’ve ever experienced at a hospital. From the floor nurses and other staff to the individuals in the cath lab, we were treated with the upmost respect and care.A unique pleasant surprise happened one morning when I went to get breakfast at the cafeteria. After making my selection (which by the way was very tasty), I was told the food was paid for by a gentleman setting at one of the tables dressed in a suit. Later I found out that the gentleman was “Mike”, the President and CEO of the hospitality. What a kind gesture. No doubt the wonderful kind people we experienced SSM Good Samaritan were just modeling what they had seen from their leadership.Even after my wife was released to go home, where we discovered one of her very critical medications was missing from the required prescriptions, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks to everyone at SSM Good Samaritan. We are grateful for the care and would highly recommend this hospital.

The OBGYN floor and some nurses were amazing! They gave me whatever I wanted and some nurses didn’t listen and didn’t care! I waited three hours for a snack before getting it from a nurse! And the lab ladies/gals were amazing and some didn’t listen to me when I would tell them to stop digging around for blood! One made me cry because she didn’t listen to me and I told her to stop twice! Other than that, it was good

I cannot say enough positive praise about the doctors and staff in the ICU unit. They show the highest level of professionalism, concern, for both the patient and family.
