I moved to Arkansas in 2018. I’m originally from Indiana! I have stopped several times at Shimoji Coffee during my travels back and forth. I recently visited in December. The coffee was AMAZING! I got a dirty chai. The Shimoji Coffee team was friendly and professional! I was served my coffee quickly and was able to get back on the road. The location isn’t too far from the interstate! It’s just the cutest and they have a table outside for you to sit too, if you have more time! Thank you, Shimoji Coffee!!

Basing this review off my experience on Saturday, 2/3, because it was a lot better than usual. A blonde, female employee took my order and she was very friendly, which was refreshing. Usually the brunette female employee I get is always frowning and quiet. Additionally, my iced latte was a LOT better when the blonde employee made it (I assume she made it because this was the only time I had her and my usual drink was a lot better than before). I wish I knew her name so I could use it in this review. I went back the next day, hoping for the same quality again, and unfortunately I had the different employee that frowns and my latte was nothing like how the blonde did it. I’m hoping this review can help staff pinpoint what the blonde did to make the iced latte a lot better than usual. I’m not a coffee expert, so all I can say is it was lighter in color and tasted completely different (I could taste espresso this time and noticeable caramel flavor, unlike other times).

Sheba and her team serve delicious, worth-the-trip coffee and show incredible customer service and hospitality. Cutest little shipping container made into a coffee shop!I saw an ad on my way home from OH. I am a coffee addict so I had to stop since it was a 2 min addition.I got my normal ice latte and it was delicious, around $4 and a pretty good size for the price and being a medium!I also liked how the cup was branded which you don’t always see for a small coffee company.Very satisfied!

I don't know about thier coffee as I don't drink coffee... however, their smoothies lack flavor big time. I even ask for extra flavor but they just fall short every time. They need to really boost the flavor by 100%. When I drink a smoothie from there, i almost wish I could go in and show them how to make a smoothie with a nice pop of flavor like I make at home. If they could get the smoothies to be more flavorful, I'd probably be there everyday. Even the whipped cream has almost zero flavor to it. It tastes like they didn't even add any sugar to it as they whipped it.I will say that their baked goods are amazing and I haven't had any of them that I didn't like.Love the people who work there too.

Excellent coffee and service. We always have a hard time finding *GOOD* coffee close to freeways. Shimoji makes excellent coffees. We had an espresso and a latte. Both were high quality. We drove up to the window and ordered. We thought the pick up window is ahead and drove forward but were mistaken. The person at the window came out to give us our coffee which was very nice of her!

I specifically stopped in Vandalia on the way back to St. Louis a few weeks ago but it was a weekday morning and the line was long and I couldn't tell if it started across from the diner or closer to the dental office, so I just got drip coffee elsewhere. Today (Saturday) I tried again and found out that there are drive thrus on BOTH sides of the building, so that's why I saw cars in line from multiple directions. I got the caramel apple latte with almond milk and it was exactly like fall in a to-go cup. I'll be back now that I know I can get on line from either direction!

We are missionaries to the Deaf who serve in South Africa. We are accustomed to great coffee all the time. We are in the US for a few months and have struggled to find good coffee as we’ve been traveling around to meetings. Thank the Lord we ran a crossed Shimoji Coffee! They roast their own beans and the coffee is delicious. We asked them to make something special that we normally get in South Africa, a vanilla cinnamon cappuccino. It was great. So, if you’re traveling east or west on route 70 through Illinois, make sure to take exit 63 and give these dear folks a visit. You will not be disappointed!

This has become our new "halfway point" for our trips to Missouri from Ohio. The shop is an ingenious double drive-thru where you can approach from either side as long as the shop is on the driver's side.The selection of coffee was what you would expect from most modern coffee shops and Starbucks alternatives. The employees were extremely professional and courteous.

Went with my grandpa, and both of our drinks are great! He got his usual salted caramel coffee, and I got a matcha boba tea. sooooo good! The people working are so nice. I’ve only been there five times over the past three years. It’s always been good, and I think it’s getting even better. If I lived in Vandalia I’d go more often!Edit- I was looking at reviews, and saw that most of the bad ones where from years ago. They were about wait times, and I can confidently say they have definitely fixed this issue.

Was passing through small town Illinois on the way to St. Louis and was pleasantly surprised to see a billboard for a drive-thru espresso bar. I got a large latte and it was very good. The espresso was very fruity. Though I would recommend that you get an extra shot of espresso in your latte, because it wasn’t very strong.

Received a gift certificate for Christmas and wasn't sure what this place was about? I really do like the convenience of their drive thru service. The gal who waited on me was very courteous and told me I could buy fleshly ground coffee or buy it by the cup. So I bought a pound of fresh ground and it smells great. Tastes even better. Will definitely buy from them again.So if you like freshly ground coffee do yourself a favor and go to Shimoji Coffee. I also saw they have other drinks available like smoothies. This place gets a big thumbs up 👍 from me.When I run out of this bag, I'm heading back to Vandalia for more.

The best little coffee place in the country! Everything is homemade - not just the pastries, but even the syrups and the whipped cream as well. They use local ingredients, the coffee beans are roasted and ground right here in town, so you are always sure to receive the freshest batch possible.If this wasn’t enough, the baristas are absolutely top-notch - both in kindness and a willingness to go above and beyond for their customers.Highly recommend this wonderful drive-thru, whether you visit the Vandalia or Greenville location, you will not be disappointed.(On a side note, dairy-free options are also offered!)

My first time ever going to a coffee house and if all of them are like this, it won't be my last. I went to get my sister-in-law a coffee and I ordered me one as well, just to see what the fuss was about.The girls working were so sweet and nice. My large frozen mocha, with a double shot of expresso, was nothing more than amazing! They topped it off with whip cream and chocolate...yum 😋

Fantastic espresso! We saw a sign off the side of the highway and decided to give this place a shot. The area Shimoji Coffee is located in isn't anything to write home about -- So we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the coffee here competes with some of the best coffee we've had from across the US. The baked goods could use some improvements, and their milk texturing could be improved. However, for the location, price, and overall quality of coffee (they have a great selection of beans too), we'll definitely be stopping by Shimoji again. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Please do not stop at McDonalds or Starbucks for a coffee; hold out for a few more miles and grab a latte from this place.

Great bakery items! Great staff. Coffee around 10ish is consistently on the warm side. Would not consider hot that it needs a sleeve. I'm sure it's great if you get there early.
