Sam put my bike together, a three-wheel Moon cool, I'm more than satisfied with his work, I even took it back to get a few you adjustments on it while he was closed but he came out and fix my bike and had a great attitude also his father-in-law while Sam worked on the bike we had a great conversation really good people here I will do business with them again if you need bicycle service that's the place to do it Baker's bikes

(They made up a nickname for my dad, beardy mcbeard face 🤣🤣)They aren't afraid if humor either!Again, great shoppe!So great in fact, that I started hanging out with them. Took my bike here to have flat tire repaired. Was throughly satisfied. I walked in and it only took about 30 min. Family owned shop nestled in the community of Urbana, just what I was looking for. No frills but you will not lack for good conversation and relaxing environment if you like the rustic look which I do. They love rabbits! friendly folks and really know their stuff. The young man there was kind and courteous.

I was searching for a chain for a vintage tricycle and was getting the runaround from other bike shops. Stopped by Bakers and he knew exactly what I needed and had it for me the next day. Way more than fair pricing and even helped install the new chain. Very pleased with the knowledge and willingness to help me out. I will definitely come back if the need arises again and will pass it along to others needing any repairs on their bikes.

This is a truly family owned business, and they were super nice and helpful. They let me try out different bikes by riding around the neighborhood and they adjusted the bike I got so that it fit me perfectly. They also will change the seat out for any of the other seats they have. They're super nice and clearly care about their customers. Highly recommend.

This group went out of their way to give me a great experience. I had several things wrong with my bike, and they fixed them all at a much lower price than where I planned to take it. I'm back in town after 10 years in Madison, and the only bike shop I remembered was the one on University. After reading reviews on Google (Thanks, Google), I took it here, instead.Well, you can't judge a book by its cover. These people are a true "mom n pop" shop, working out of their home. The other is a new, very expensive store on a busy street. These people (Baker's) get great reviews, and I experienced great service first hand.I had a small problem after the repair, with no transportation there, and they came and got me, solved the problem free of charge and I was on my way. I can't imagine any of the other shops would have done that.They obviously stand behind their service.Remember, don't go for the poshest looking shop, go for the reviews.

I went to Baker's to buy a cheap used bike to replace my broken one. However, they showed me that my bike was worth fixing and it was even cheaper to fix than the $45 used bike I intended to buy. They got me the best deal possible and did numerous other small fixes like oiling my gears for no charge at all. They didn't have to do any of this but went out of their way to make my experience a great one. I will definitely be going back and recommend them to everyone. I even joined google+ just to give them a great review.

took a wheel there to be balanced/tuned. people seemed great, prices seemed fair, and they had some neat bikes there.when they called me to come back for my wheel, the spokes were supposedly done but the sprocket was laying on the ground next to the broom in the dirt pile, and the reflector (i later noticed) was gone. i guess it depends on who you get. i wish i could trust them to do the other wheels i have, but i don’t know what it would take to do that.

I've been to a couple of the other bike shops in "better" (more visible) locations in Urbana and Champaign and this is by far the best shop. The shop owner is very knowledgeable, serviced my bike quickly, and the prices he charges are lower than what might be considered fair. Most importantly, he is much more pleasant than many of the other bike shop owners and their staff in the area.I will be returning to Baker's Bikes and recommending them to anyone who needs bike service, parts, or a new bike.

I brought my bike to Baker's Bikes after I wrecked it and bent up the fork. The owner looked over it and talked me through the repairs he would do. He was honest with me and said it might take him a few days. However it was finished within a day or two. Now it rides better than it did before I wrecked it. His price for the repair was more than fair. I will definitely be returning and would recommend this place to anyone.

While visiting from CA, my husband wanted to rent a bike. My husband is an avid bike enthusiast. The owner kindly let him try out and use a bike for the days while we were in town. We thought the custumer service was top notch. Also the selection and quality was excellent. Definitely will be buying bikes for the family from Baker's Bikes.

Best place for a college student to get a bike! I am so glad that I got my bike from Baker's Bikes when I started at UIUC. They gave me a good deal on a beautifully restored Schwinn and have great customer service. I have gone back two times in 3 years for repairs and have been well taken care of. The first time, there was a rainstorm and they gave me a ride home while my bike was in for repairs. The second time, they let me use a loaner bike while mine was in the shop. I have been really impressed by this family business and highly recommend it to my fellow Illini!

This place was recommended to me by a friend. Got great service, fixed my bike, and had an interesting conversation about the coefficient of rolling friction. Better prices than other places and they don't bat an eye about ordering things in.

But if you're looking for good conversation, cats to pet, and a cozy local business, you've found it here.The Bakers aren't here to oversell you, or screw you over. They just sell and repair bikes! They're low in stock due to Covid, but have a good, small selection of both new and used bicycles.I'll definitely be back!

I bought a bike off of Craigslist and took it to Baker's for a tune-up. They got it all fixed up and replaced my brakes for a great price. The bike felt totally different afterward. You can tell they love what they do.It's a little off the beaten path, but I'm convinced it's the best place to take your bike in Chambana.

Best bike shop ever.Bought a used 2003 Giant Boulder 23" here in August/September 2012 - excellent service, very helpful and the bike has been great. Today, the bottom bracket collapsed in on itself. They replaced it quickly and professionally and covered the expense and were very very nice - I know I will be going here for the remainder of my time in Urbana.If you're in Urbana-Champaign, and you need a bike or bike service, going anywhere other than Baker's bikes is silly.

Great Service. My bike was fixed in less than 10 minutes. A lot of the accessories for the bikes are cheaper than at other places. I definitely will be taking my bike there from now on if I need anything.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BAKER'S BIKES. Really wonderful family owned business. They are very understanding, take time to explain, and stand behind their bikes. I love the philosophy they employ of taking old bikes and recycling/reusing them into great, fully functional and well-performing/user-­friendly bikes! Baker's bikes are the people to do this. I enjoy going to their shop, in beautiful residential east historic Urbana, and really appreciate all the tune-ups and fixes they do, often for free or low/reasonable charge. Always reasonable! If you are in the Urbana-Champaign area, or even within 50 miles of here, and looking for a bike, I'd HIGHLY recommend going to Baker's Bikes.
