Definitely worth the stop! Really neat 15-20 minute walk down a section of the 50s part of Route 66. Very well kept and preserved. Some really neat history for sure!Plenty of great photo ops!Stop at the Fast Stop Station for fuel and refreshments!You can also walk on the original 1920s section at Dead-Man's curve but be careful as this section is still open to traffic.We spent over an hour here and loved it!

Be sure to take your bike because the greenway is very nice. Not sure how long it is but very well kept and clean. Ride on the old RT 66 road.

Drove from the start in down town Chicago to Springfield and Rt 66 only. Really cool things to see on the way. It does take a while but well worth it.

Even though this is not one of the original pieces of Road. Being able to walk down the 1950s part of the Route 66 is great. Now you can say you did get your kicks on Route 66!

After our adventure in St. Louis we decided to take the back roads to avoid the freeways and came upon this section of the original"Historic Route 66"It's a small section of the original road and is basically just an historic marker now, but still very cool to stop at and get some pics. I've always wanted to travel the full length of this road and stumbling on this definitely adds to the mystique.

Always have a great time on Route 66!! There are several play areas along the highway that are wonderful to stop at during the summer for the kids to stop and have a good long play session! We stop as often as we can!!

I rode my motorcycle on this ride, it was my first time taking route 66 from Chicago south suburbs.I only rode two hundred miles one way. But it has some nice long straight aways along side interstate 55.

What a road trip! Nice picturesque stops in the middle of the desert. There was a beautiful scene of mountains, mesas and plateaus. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss.

Almost 5 miles of old Route 66 near Towanda, Illinois have become a recreational trail for locals and others passing through as they experience "The Mother Road." More than 300 trees, hundreds of perennials, historic signs, two pavillions, and informative pamphlets border the trail to enhance visitors' experience. A registration book at the flagpole trailhead shows visitors from most US states and 6 of Earth's continents. The trail now connects with the Bloomington-Normal Constitution Trail. Plans are underway to extend the trail both to the north and to the south.

A stretch of the preserved original Route 66 which is off to the side of the traveled road. Nicely presented with signs and trees and bushes.
