Such a wonderful site here. The sound of nature here is just serene with constant animal sounds matched perfectly with the serenity of silence. Teresa (the owner) reached out to us on multiple occasions to ensure we had/needed everything prior to and during our stay. Everything about this place was just friendly and welcoming. The cabins are cozy and well sized, and there is a respectable amount of distance between cabins to ensure privacy for everyone. We will gladly be coming back here!Nearby activities: Starved rock, Utica

Went for rest and relaxation in Nature and got exactly that. Could have stayed at the cabin the entire time and would have been perfectly happy with that, however there is some beautiful areas close by to explore such as Starving Rock State Park. Will definitely return to Kishauwau cabins, next time I would rent a couple more cabins and bring my adult children and my grandchildren. Loved it!

Absolutely the most wonderful relaxation destination around in Illinois From quiet forests to soothing hot tubs.Nothing beats the chill of a winter breeze with a wood burning fireplace.This is an annual if not more often go to for our family. Supreme service and care given to every guest, and cabin.

The perfect secluded spot for a wonderful getaway!The cabin was spacious, spotless and cozy at the same time.We enjoyed the convenience of the office open 24-7. The fresh eggs were delicious and the movie choices were diverse.Thanks for the recharge!

The cabin was wonderful,nice and clean and very quiet!! The dogs love hiking in the beautiful nearby state parks we went to three to be exact and nearby towns were great to visit especially oglesby about eight minutes away ,they had a great 2 acre dog park with perfect grass that our two kids were able to run ! If you want a small get away for few days Kishauway is the place ,they provided grill and also had small bomb fire for s'mores ! Highly recommend!!!!! Five paws from us!!!

My spouse and I started giving our adult children, their spouses, and children a post-Christmas winter getaway in lieu of presents, for the last 3 years. This is by far the best cabin we've stayed at. We are all public servants working in Chicago, and this vacation gave us the necessary rest and relaxation we needed. Each household took turns cooking meals for all and showcased their best dishes prepared in a spacious kitchen space. Our family of 13 could all sit together with no need for a separate kid's table. The couches in front of the TV and fireplace weren't spacious enough for all of us to sit at the same time, but while Grandpa and the other sports lovers watched the NFL playoffs, Grandma was busy playing board games and putting puzzles together with the little ones. Everyone also enjoyed the 4 private bedrooms, the 6 twin beds in the great room for the kids, and the two bathrooms with showers. There's also plenty of room for you to have "me time" away from all the noise. Really, I can go on and on about how this space is perfect for families that want to connect. We're looking forward to booking this space again during other seasons so we can drive a few minutes out to hike at Starved Rock and maybe go into town.Rooms: 4 very clean and private bedrooms for the adults, and the kids had their beds in the great room. The kids thought it was so much fun to all be able to sleep in their own beds right next to each other. Linens and towels were very clean. Beds were firm but comfortable.Noteworthy details: Plenty of room for my family to stretch out and relax but also come together for games, puzzles, meals, catching up, etc. A nature-lover in our family was able to brave the cold and go bird-watching for a bit. She was so happy when she returned!

Perfect getaway for a couple to get some much needed relaxation. Our stay was one of the best experiences we have had, and staff gave the guests the space needed to relax while periodically checking in via text to ensure everything was running smoothly. We ended up to visiting the gift shop and had the opportunity to speak to the owner Terisa who was very down-to-earth and easy going. This is the first time me and my partner can say we felt “at home” away from home and we look forward to returning soon.The breakfast package we got was also a bonus- I have never tried farm fresh eggs and it was a game changer.

me and my girlfriend just stayed here and this was the most relaxing vacation to date we done. we typically just go to hotels or go to the park an come home but this time we decided to do a cabin an let me say this they stock the rooms well with towels coffee you name it. starved rock is close by and a bunch of other parks to alot of restaurants to pick from I see us going back real soon

This is a lovely getaway if you want quiet, unplugged time away. The rooms are comfortable, everything needed is provided at a basic, better than camping level with an awesome wood stove to keep cozy in the winter. It was perfect with 4" of new snow to enhance the beauty. Bring the extras and enjoy!Nearby activities: Location is very near Starved Rock, Autumn Hill tasting room, and wonderful LaSalle places like Uptown Grill.

Me and my boyfriend have stayed here twice so far and we plan to continue coming for a long time. We’ve stayed in the wilderness cabin as well as the shady oaks cabin and both were clean, comfortable, well stocked, and just a wonderful place to stay. We didn’t have too much phone reception but they have a huge selection of movies and games available at the main office as well as supplies for a fire, and some other small items you may have forgotten. They also have a very cute little gift shop. Overall the property is beautiful and it’s the perfect driving distance to both matthesson state park (my favorite) as well as starved rock.

This is our fourth time staying here and our second Thanksgiving weekend. We found this place during the pandemic and came here twice. It was peaceful, quiet, and the perfect getaway spot. We’ve now brought our daughter twice, and she loves the cabin and being able to walk outside. We definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone, and especially those who live in the city (like us) and want a getaway.

Celebrated our 2yr anniversary here this past weekend! Perfect getaway from reality. We stayed in the Americana Cabin. Woke up in the morning, looked out back, and saw woods & the river; amazing view. Starved Rock is only a 10min drive as well! I recommend this place to anyone that wants to getaway with their loved ones, family, or by themselves.

Our stay at the Kishauwau Cabins was the perfect destination for our mini honeymoon the week following our wedding. We live (and had our wedding) in Chicago and the remote, peaceful environment of Kishauwau was the perfect way for us to destress and relax and months of being busy as possible.The cabins and campgrounds were so nice and cozy that we ended up simply staying at the cabin most of the time instead of the numerous activities we had planned in the surrounding state parks and towns. The shop (which is open 24 hours a day!) had everything we needed from food to supplies for building camp fires so we never felt like we had to continually drive back into town for anything.We were able to meet the owners, and their beautiful golden retrievers, on the last day and they were so friendly! We hope to make visiting the Kishauwau cabins an annual trip for us anytime we want to spend time out in nature relaxing.

We love this place! We have been here a few times now and it's been great every visit! I only down rated the Service because there hasn't been any need for personal service while we stayed there. There is an office that has movies to lend for free along with some simple items for purchase (frozen pizza, soda, firewood, charcoal lighter, firestarters, toothpase, etc.). Everything is on the honor system during off hours. If you do need help with anything, any time, there is a phone in the office with a list of numbers to call to reach the owners. I would like to highly recommend this place, but I'm afraid it will get too crowded if I do! :)
