2024 Edit response to new owners: Hi, well, unfortunately after a month of this haircut, our Kayai had passed away. Which is really heartbreaking in many ways, but for sure this is something that should be a reminder for all who love their animals. Let me clear some things up. Yes, Dawn did call but we responded in which our family said absolutely no shaving under any circumstances to our dog. Sammys should not be shaved like this and this is no excuse, and it’s crazy how we have never been able to see this footage since this post back in 2021. We will not give this place another chance, and we will let our baby’s story be a reminder to those who decide if this is a good place for them to take their own fur babies to.I wish I could give a lower rating. I cannot believe my experience today. We gave this place a chance for our fluffy dog and they did everything we asked them not to do. The owner, Dawn, was extremely rude and I politely asked for her not to shave our dog who is a Samoyed husky. She said my dog has knots, which is common for our dog since she has so much fur, and I understand some shaving, but I asked not shaving it ALL OFF. Well, I got in there and my dog was flat, absolutely no fur was on her. No fluff on her tail and she has the absolute worst side cut ever. I can see her skin visibly in multiple areas. I encourage Pooches and screw ups to maybe be a better person and get some extra information on how to groom a Samoyed husky. These dogs should not be shaved badly to this extent since they get upset. Luckily she is an old dog, but I feel so awful for her. Never go here if you want your fluffy dog to get groomed, even if they have some knots or else it seems they’ll blind fold themselves and turn on the razor randomly! Does she looked like she was TRIMMED? AFTER and I have a pic of what she usually looks like.

Fantastic! I brought in a dirty, messy dog (unfortunately with some bad mats 😬) and came home with a happy, shiny-like-new puppy! Thanks Melissa, Jackie and staff for doing such a great job! I know they had their work cut out for them as I have a highly-energetic 🤪 Wheaten Terrier. A million thanks! 😁

I have a Yorkie terrier senior dog that gets groomed her for the last several years. She is always happy and relaxed when I take her home. Nice clean facility. They do a great job with my trimming requests. I highly recommend this place you will not be disappointed. I also saw a cat get groomed and the groomer was patient and gentle with brushing. I will be back. Update: My dog has recently passed away but her last grooming appt she was experiencing heart failure and she still was groomed gently and stress free. She was very happy and relaxed after that. I highly recommend this grooming salon to friends and family.

Dawn and her team are the absolute, ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Our dogs love visiting with them, their detailed attention with each pet is just beyond compare, they are really friendly, polite, more than easy to work with, are incredibly thorough, the dogs always look fantastic, smell great, and are smiling ear to ear when we pick them up. We cannot say enough good things about Dawn, her team, and Pooches N' Purrs! Beginning to think they like Dawn and the team more than they like us!!!

We take our golden retriever here for grooming and they always do a great job. Kari did a great job last time - it was the perfect length and the attention to detail on her face was incredible. We will continue to come here :)

This groomer has done a good job grooming my beloved cat in the past. Meaning the physical grooming has gone well. I called today to get him in for grooming and the owner Dawn called me back and started the conversation saying, “It says here in our records you are supposed to take him in every six months…” (accusing tone). I said, well Covid and my daughter died..My daughter recently died and before that she was very ill for years. She had the nerve to ask me how she died-right there on the phone. Almost as if she wants me to forward my daughter’s obituary link.I’ve been trying my best to groom him on my own and it’s not enough. I needed help. I didn’t need to feel ashamed and questioned like that. I hung up on her because I couldn’t talk anymore.I do not recommend this place. They do not have good customer service and they are rude. Please find someplace else for your little loved one. :(

I absolutely love Pooches and Purrs! They take excellent care of my standard poodle and his haircut is perfect everytime! All of the ladies that work there are very nice and Dawn is very accommodating when it comes to scheduling appointments! I would absolutely recommend!

I brought my two very furry & stinky dogs in to see Kari. One is a Siberian Husky and our other dog is a 95 pound mix breed. Both breeds shed very heavily. I brought them in for baths and nail trims. They both came out smelling SO GOOD and the fluffiest they have ever been. Their toes looked amazing too. They both loved visiting Pooches n purrs & all the staff included. The entire place is well kept, clean, & such friendly staff. I will be bringing them back!!! Will only come to Pooches n Purrs from now on!! They are the BEST!! 💕

We have taken our Great Pyrenees, Polly, here several times and they have always done a fantastic job. Today, though, was a remarkable job by Kim. We hadn’t had her groomed in about 8 months and she was a hairy mess. She’s brushed often so the mats weren’t that bad but the amount of hair was beyond belief. She had the look of a Polar bear just coming out of hibernation. We picked her up and couldn’t believe how wonderful she looks. Great job turning our floof back into the glistening white pup she is supposed to be.

So my husband and I have been taking our 2 dogs to Dawn for about 6 years plus. At first we were very pleased with the service, but then we started to see that it was all about the money. Dawn wanted our dogs to be on a routine schedule. Never known a dog groomer to do this. Any who, we continued to bring our dogs in as needed. But I guess that wasn't good enough for her, so she decided to no longer service our dogs because we didn't follow her guidelines of bringing them in routinely. Stating that "the girls" look forward to a routine schedule & our dogs seem to come in matted and it''s beginning to be extra work for "the girls". Well, I thought that's why you're in business...to GROOM. I don't recall a hair stylist rejecting someone from coming in because they have too much hair, or it's too much for them to cut. Do your job Dawn and wash and shape our dogs, that's what we pay you for!! Needless to say, we found another groomer that is kind, compassionate and most importantly PROFESSIONAL & not as expensive as Pooch & Purrs! Good written DAWN, you’ve lost a long standing good paying customer !!!! DEUCES!!

Attempted to take my 9.5 lb terrier mix here for grooming. My dog has never been to the groomers and was extremely fearful and tried to nip when the worker attempted to pick her up. My dog was almost immediately turned away for being "too aggressive". I understand the business has the right to refuse services, so if your dog is fearful or not always compliant, I would not recommend this place as they do not take the time to soothe/accommodate/bond with the pets. Please Becareful and don’t take your dogs. They have cut my dogs eye and took no responsibility. Hygiene is a concern. Also, tried to confirm my appointment and had no response. They took 90.00 from me and would not issue me a refund. Very unprofessional and even said she had to keep my money because she has 4 kids to feed. Please please don’t take your dogs here! I don’t recommend for our babies!!!

I recently brought my Bernese Mountain Dog to Pooches N' Purrs for the first time two weeks ago. I have tried multiple groomers over the last two years and FINALLY found the right groomer. I could not have been more happy with the amazing haircut they did at Pooches N' Purrs. I have been asked at least a dozen times by people where my dog got his haircut because the results were that great. I would highly recommend this groomer and have already had both friends and family members take their pets there since my visit and they were super happy with their pet's haircut too. 10 out of 10

First of all, there is no way to get ahold of ANYONE by phone.Next, we handed the owner proof of my dogs rabies vaccination and she said “Oh, we don’t need that.” So your dog could possibly get infected going there.I almost turned away then, but figured I’d give them a chance. BIG MISTAKE!The blonde groomer (the owner refused to give her name because I’m going to write a bad review, gotta love when companies refuse to give information because they want to avoid bad reviews) asked if we wanted them cut and ground down and we said yes.She then proceeded to pull out the dremel and grind down my dogs nails, she didn’t cut them, we watched the whole time. Then she wonders why my dog snapped at her, uhm because your burning and hurting my dog. We’ve had him a year and a half and he has been to roughly 6 different places for baths and nail trims, NOT A SINGLE ONE has said “he snapped at me.” They have all said he was perfect.And then the groomer had the nerve to say “your supposed to let us know if he bites”After telling her he’s NEVER reacted that way, she just kept repeating “but you’re required to let us know if he’s like this”First and last time going there!They are CLEARLY inexperienced and they had an attitude with us because THEY hurt MY dog.Please beware of this groomer, I’d hate for anything to happen to any of your fur babies like what happened to my dog, or any of these reviews I’ve read.

I love this place. I've been taking my pet here since shortly after they opened and I couldn't be happier! They take care of your pet as if their own and are super friendly. I never worry when I drop her off. I used to go to a large retailer to have her groomed and while I was waiting I witnessed a groomer walk away from a dog harnessed to the station! I took my dog immediately and never returned! Dawn and her crew are focused on the pets, never turning their back on them and giving the best care. They are inexpensive and yet their grooming is superb! I highly recommend them and am grateful they came to Tinley Park!

Brought both of our dogs there to be groomed two weeks ago. We have gone there several times before. Upon picking up our dogs the 10 yr old was bleeding from a skin tag on his back. We asked what happened and they denied scratching/nicking him. It obviously happened while getting his hair cut . They then stated they must have not seen the cut. It was still bleeding when we took him home. We used neosporin on it but it started to turn colors and get larger this week. We took him to our vet and she advised it was infected. She had to remove the infected area and give him several stitches. The vet bill was $150. I called the business and spoke with Dawn who stated the groomers were independent contractors and she would talk to the groomer and call me back. Dawn called back and advised she didn't feel they had anything to do with the infection and the groomer felt the same. Dawn then asked what I wanted done and I stated they should be responsible for at least PART of the vet bill. Dawn did not feel they should pay and disputed what our vet told us. When I advised her we would no longer be taking our dogs there and I was going to write a review on Google she hung up on me. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

My pup loves this place and feels very comfortable here! They do a great job and the grooming is just how I described to them. It took a time or two to get the right cut but well worth it in the end!

I took my dog here once and although the haircut was fine, I noticed a cut on her neck, they never said a word to me. I understand that dogs wiggle but they could have told me so that I could put something on it so it wouldn’t get infected. It was quite a big scab so I’m sure that it was bleeding pretty good.

I had heard good things about this place until I took my cat. She's been getting groomed since she was only a kitten. When I did take her in she was matted. What bothered me is that the groomer only trimmed the top part of her body and yet I was still charged $90! They said my cat tried to bite them and they kept pushing information on cat bites. My cat does not bite, and if she tried to bite them it was clearly because she was hurt. I ended up taking her to a groomer in Palos and took them only 30 mins with out incident. Again, I take full responsibility for my cat's mats, but don't feel I should have been charged $90 for a job NOT done.

They did such a fantastic job ony Bichons, Beans and Daisy. This is the first groomer that made them look like the Bichons they are. I'm thrilled to have found them. And they are the most reasonably priced groomers as well. They listened and made my dogs look like little rock stars.

Whomever responds to client comments definitely needs a lesson in social media and customer service etiquette. While looking for a pet salon for my dog, I was considering this one...a nip or cut here or there can be expected...however the response and aggressive nature of the owner/social media respondent was a complete turn-off...get a grip..Follow-up on the phone and discuss the situation, negotiate a solution, and ask the person to update their post.

Very happy with the way the dog looked, what I especially liked was the calmness he exhibited when I picked him up. He ( Rufus) was calm and comfortable until he knew I was there, then its let's go but it's more important when you are not there and I'm happy with what I observed.

do not come here, i have a tiny teacup Yorky, she gets scared when people touch her. She started nipping at the worker, and when i came in to pick her up, the worker was hitting my dog! do not recommend going here, hate this place,go to alsip nursery and i great AMAZING service:)

Pooches N' Purrs salon made my pet look beautiful and were good with all of the dogs that were in the salon. surprisingly they got along with my dog who is usually feisty!
