This is a great stop along the Great River Trail. There is a bike tool station, in non covid time a drinking fountain, great wildlife display inside, and a shaded shelter with picnic tables. I also enjoy seeing their nice solar installation.

Absolutely beautiful views of the Mississippi River from the many overlooks. There are hiking trails, but if you are unable to hike long distances, you can drive to the various overlooks and get out for a short walk. The drive through the park is just breathtaking. I went on a weekday afternoon in July and encountered very few other people.

Went last week of January to see the Bald Eagles. Didn't see many but much closer than at Lock 13 or Lock 12. They flew right over us! View is from a deck pretty far inside the Depot. Don't go to the visitor's center, go into the Depot and follow signs for viewing.

Our 3 young Grandchildren were delighted with the wetlands center. It is fairly small, but has nice exhibits of wetland birds, fish and fur bearers. Very hands on, and the nice park ranger explained it all very well, and sent the kids off with complimentary coloring books. They loved it!

Well, it's a great place to take a break when riding the trails. Lots of wildlife, hunting and fishing information. I stopped here today and asked a question. The conservation person seemed put out that I was asking, like I should have known the answer. Her shirt was unbuttoned, looked unprofessional. Maybe it was a bad day.

This place is a gem whether you live nearby or are a tourist. Plenty of great displays and access to activities for all ages. The staff are very friendly, helpful and informative.

Ducks, eagles and pelicans, oh my! Not sure about migration times for pelicans, but the variety of birds we were able to see in early April was fantastic!

We took the delightful two+ hour golf cart tour of this portion of the refuge. What a treat!
