The store seemed nice for no longer than I was in there. The main reason I am writing a review is the nice cashier who was very friendly to me and the other customers. She asked us if we wanted our receipts and to have a good day. Believe it or not that’s going above and beyond for most Dollar General’s especially the ones in Mattoon.

Friendly helpful staff. Delivery truck comes in they keep up and isles are easy to get around. Been to some stores can't get to shelves so many boxes stacked can't shop. Store is clean inside and outside.Im always happy to shop here in Sullivan,Illinois.

Decent place to shop for necessities and really the only place to shop in Sullivan. Shelves could be better stocked but I’m sure covid has something to do with that. Staff is friendly but could be more attentive to customers checking out.

New store...beautiful large building...same poorly managed store. I waited in line for 20 minutes last night. This isn't the first time. And poorly stocked shelves. Have been in three times and not been able to get what I went in to purchase: buns, eggs, and tomato juice. Stock those shelves and hire more people. Tired of waiting in ridiculously long lines. One person per shift is not enough!!

Waited for 30 minutes just to get a few things I needed because they only had "one" register. Dollar general needs to get it together. They're always out of stuff and always only have "one" register while the rest of the employees "stock" shelves and pretend they don't see the long lines.

This is a new store, and as Dollar Generals go, there's quite a bit to like about it. The grocery section is more extensive than most DGs I've seen. It even has a hitching post outside for the convenience of the local Amish customers. My biggest negative is that it's awkward to get into. You have to turn onto a side street and quickly turn into the lot, and you're entering from the side of the store, The parking lot is also a little tight. When you're backing out of a space, there's very little room to clear the row of cars behind you, and vehicles entering and exiting the lot are having to maneuver to deal with that single side access.

This Dollar General is horrible! There is this woman named Jessica she is rude, disrespectful, and doesn't know how to to her job! There is always merchandise in the aisles, this shouldn't be this way it should be stocked before the store is open or after it is closed. This is ridiculous and I am sick of it, it was not like this before the new manager took over. I'm calling the BBB asap. I cannot afford to drive 20 miles everytime I need something. My husband and I are so disappointed with this store. It's always a mess nothing is stocked and they are rude! Thank you and have a wonderful day! :-)

This Sullivan IL store is way too small. I stopped here for convenience but will go to the Bethany store from now on. Two people can not even walk down the aisles especially if you have a cart.

In the past, employees have been rude and unwilling to be an assist to elderly customers. Today was different. The girl checking us out was training another girl. She was very pleasant. The store is cluttered and always looks dirty.

For all the people giving this store a 1 star, This is a Dollar General. You cannot expect it to be ran like a 5 star Super Walmart. It is a convenient store to get small necessities.

I usually just go here for last minute cleaning supplies and dog treats, but they usually have what I want/need and at a decent price. Except their food. That always seems pretty high.

The people who work here are very helpful and friendly. The store is a bit claustrophobic for me. They have everything a newer Dollar General would have, but not as much space.

This is an expanded convenience store with a nice grocery section as well as many household and clothing items. Downside to this particular store is that it's often times disheveled.

The new store is cleaner and more organized. They needed a new store years ago. Glad to see DG give them one.

Store is absolutely disgusting....aisles cramped nothing is cleaned up looks like a bomb went off. Also you have to wait in line forever!

Local go to for everything you don't want to go to IGA to get. The store is small, pertaining to space in the aisles but they have alot of products.

Not a huge selection overall, but the employees are generally friendly. Small gripe: none of the frozen pizzas have any non-meat options.

I haven't seen any Dollar General root beer brand since the new store has been there the Mattoon store seems to have no problem.
