I occasionally visit this Ace either because I'm in the area or if they have a good sale. It is very friendly and customer service oriented. The prices are comparable to the larger big box stores like Home Depot and say a Menards. I also like it because it has a lot of the same things as the big box stores without giant lot and store. It is more personable and more convenient. I can get in and out much faster. Big is not always better.

I went to Ace Hardware to get the supplies need to hang a canvas painting in my mother's room at a nearby nursing home. The painting did not have the teeth or string on the back. I also needed the command picture hanger to stick to the wall. Both Jimmy and a woman warmly greeted me. Then not only did Jimmy take me to the supplies, he recommended what he thought would work best. Then he actually nailed the teeth on back of the canvas for me. This was no easy task as the nails in the kit was short and his finger/thumb were taller. I was afraid he would injure himself but he figured a way to quickly get it done. Jimmy not only takes pride in his work, but he really cares about the customers. This was one of the best experiences I encountered in my 59 years at a store. Thank you Jimmy!!! This was indeed a little thing that meant alot! The canvas painting looks great on mom's wall at the nursing home.

Just wanted to say that the fact that I spend 10k plus a year with Ace Hardware, and I can’t use the restroom is baffling. I’m in the customer service and go above and beyond to ensure my customers are treated as I would want to be treated.

Usually pretty helpful, the cashier although is kind of rude (older women) who looks bothered to have to get off her phone, doesn't greet or thank for patronage etc

So I always run here when I don't really feel like going to Menards because it's right around the corner from my house and it's just the convenience. I always go there and run into the same guy and he's always so helpful. Of course the other workers there are also just as helpful and friendly. This particular day I go in to get some more caulk and they were helpful as usual. I go to start my car & put my car in reverse it does not go because the gear shift button is stuck I tried to figure it out myself but I couldn't. So I go back in the store and I run straight to the guy who is always so helpful to me his name is Jimmy. So I told Jimmy oh my God I messed up my car gear is stuck can you please help me? he immediately grabs a screwdriver and comes out to help me and of course he fixed it just for me to get home. He also then tells me what it is that I need to do just in case it happens again but for me to be careful. If I could kiss him I would have lol he is always so willing to help and so friendly. I was so happy that he figured it out because I did not know what to do. It's nice to know that there are people who still will go over and beyond with helping people. He really did not have to do that. His job didn't require him to do that but he helped me anyway and that just shows his character. I was so appreciative and I kept telling him that and I promise I am definitely going to pay it forward. It's just nice to know like I said that people are decent and that just made my day. This is the definition of customer service!!

This is such a great store. As soon as you walk in, there is somebody there asking if you need help. John, Joe, and ALL the other guys that work there are so helpful. And Kelly the person who checks customers out with their purchases is efficient, polite, friendly, etc. I love the store. I highly recommend it. It’s much better than going to a big box store like Menards or Home Depot where it’s hard to find somebody to help you.

Been going here for years, and its slowly gone from bad to worse. Other than the two younger guys that work here the help is abominable. Always feels like it's a bother to have to "help" with anything. Then theres always the fact that they have no inventory on hand. I'll drive 10 minutes further to the Crete ace. They have a lot of products and are genuinely friendly and helpful people.

I came in yesterday evening an hour before close and was greeted by three staff. They asked if I needed assistance and helped me to get a lawnmower. I really appreciate the great customer service here.

They provide excellent customer service. I like that they are family owned. I deducted a star because of their problems with making duplicate house keys. Not only have I had to go back several times to get a key remade to actually work in the door lock, but they chew up my original key and it is much more difficult to unlock my door with it. There is only one guy that is good at making dupplicate keys. Ask for the slender guy, with the mustache.

If you need a couple of nuts and bolts, or some trimmer line, this is the place. If you needed more than that, it is much more cost effective to go to a big box store. Staff tries to be helpful, but aren't the most knowledgeable. Do NOT ask any questions about code, they have no clue.

This is a small "Ma and Pa" type Ace. It is much smaller to most other stores in the same chain. The service is fantastic and staff is polite and knowledgeable. They do not carry the whole line of CRAFSTMAN tools like the ACE in Crete, Il which is only a few miles away. With this store, I would phone first if you are in the middle of home repairs or projects and are in desperate need of something: ran there many times because location is convenient, but had to go to a larger retailer to find what I needed.
