I was in from out of town and decided to check this place out since I am a hobbiest. The store is tiny, with not much room to move around in. Seemed like the owner had too many people on the clock that day as there were quite a few guys there that seemed like they were doing things around the store and in the way to where customers couldn't quite look around well. What got me the most is that there were also guys there that would watch your every move as if you were going to steal something. I tend to spend upwards of $500 or more in stores like this. This store though, will never have my business.

Okay, so I rarely give bad reviews but I used to LOVE this place when they were at their old location on Peroia Rd. We would drive a hour just to go there to buy our fish.It seems like since they moved they have less fish in stock. But that didn't bother me as much as the rude employees now, plus I never see the sweet associates from the old store either. The last time we went there was over 2 years ago and we ordered a special pleco. We when it came in we picked it up and brought it home. The kid there that we ordered it from didn't seem to really know much and was not very polite or helpful at all. Well we got it home and a week later it died. I called them back up before we took another hour trip back up there and told them my situation. They refused to refund my money or even exchange it for another fish. They said i should of brought a water sample before we paid and took it home. They have NEVER told me that before. We have bought many many fish and returned them within the peroid if they died and brought the water sample after.We have refused to go there since and have been patronizing petco in Springfield instead since they have better customer service it seems. It's just sad that our favorite store got ruined by bad associates. I miss the old associates from the Peoria Rd. Store.

Extremely small but impressive selection. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and legitimately seemed to care. Only knock is size (very cramped) and everything just seemed cluttered so a touch hard to browse. I hope they can one day expand to a larger footprint like they once had. Excellent source for aquarium hobbyists.

This is one of the best fish places in town. Their fish are healthy and I have not had any issues with introducing their new fish to my tank. They are knowledgeable, as well. I had issues with my tank and they gave great advice and assistance. The store also has reptiles, birds, and small animals like hamsters and mice.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Good selection of fresh and salt water fish. Also has a selection of small birds, reptiles, mice, guinea pigs, feeder animals and insects, and a few other pets. Seemed their stock of aquarium supplies was on the light side, but overall definitely worth checking out.

Got my first baby ferret back in 2007 at this company. Came back to this company to get another ferret this year the store was not as they used to take care of it. I still recommend all that they offer, but the upkeep is not the same. I apologize but that's my opinion.

Pretty neat little pet shop I stumbled into. The young man there was very knowledgeable of the different varieties of fish which I thought was pretty cool. I'll definitely be going back when it's time to buy my fish

I always get good service when I go to Fish Man's Pet Center there always prompt with their service and eager to help you they even take time to chat with you on occasion when they're not real busy. Even though it is a 30 mile drive one way it's not a big issue going there their prices are reasonable I buy rats off of them for my snakes they're clean and healthy.

This used to be my favorite place for all my aquarium needs. They have a significantly smaller selection and I tried ordering fish 4 different times and never once got help or a call like they said they would. The knowledge of the people working there is minimal if you don't talk to certain people. When I talked to the owner about these issues just to help him get insight on what I think could be done better he told me I was wrong. Well I've been shopping at this store for 7 years and have a steep decline. If you're looking for a good place to shop now days, Midwest tropical fish in Jerseyville is one of the best freshwater retailers that I have found .

Went in to buy guinea pig… and a light for my fish they were very helpful but when i went back to look at the guineas.. 3 of the 5 were in isolation being treated for “skin issues” i opted against buying a guinea because i didnt want my guinea getting the “skin issue”

I have been coming to Fish Man for many years for parrot supplies, feeder rats, and saltwater and freshwater fish. In the last few years, I have really only needed live feeder rats, and they are one of the very few petstores that still carry them! I usually call ahead to see if they have them in since it takes about 30-45 minutes for me to get there, and they have never not had 1-2 small rats available.
