New to the area.First visit for my dog. The doctor was super friendly and took her time with us. Very thorough with my dog. I even toured their kennels and booked it for later this year. Friendly, clean, prices are about the same as every other vet. This one was chosen because of proximity to my house. Great choice for me and my pet.

Extremely disappointed in the behavior of the representative that took my call. I was calling to set up a neuter for my dog and when I asked what vaccines are required besides his rabies before surgery she literally laughed at me on the phone and then proceeded to tell me what vaccines are required before surgery. Super disheartening to have been treated that way as I always spoke highly of this establishment to other people locally. I guess when a dog parent wants education on what his dog is being injected with that’s funny. I will not be utilizing them in the future.

We were concerned about our dog, and wanted to give her a check up. The receptionist was nice and it was quick, we didn't wait long, and when we were in the room also did not wait long to see the doctor. She and her assistant were so nice, and explained what was going on very clearly, and made it easy to understand. She clearly loves each animal brought to her, and made us feel much more at ease about the whole situation. Thanks doc!

Dr. Smith has been our cats' vet for the past 4-5 years and each experience is better than the last. Yesterday's was so incredible, though. Dr. Smith has always treated our pets with so much compassion as though she would her own, and welcomed any and all questions (which I always have more than I'm sure she'd want to answer). She graciously answers each one thoroughly and there have been times where she simply recognizes our facial cues to know we are confused. She's truly wonderful all around with us and our cats. The most recent experience with her was immediately after a weekend long stay at the emergency clinic off of Wabash. She was prompt in talking with us and immediately wanted us to continue care at U of I, offering that she wanted a specialist and more tests than her facility were equipped with. To have that honesty level with a patient and family is so admirable. But if that wasn't enough, Dr. Smith sent myself, sister and cat with extensive directions and a map she had personally printed to help us get there. She is so kind and to have someone be so considerate makes me that much comfortable having her as my pet's physician. Sangamon Avenue Veterinary Clinic is truly blessed to have Dr. Sarah Smith as an asset and team member. If you are in need of a vet or haven't decided someone to consistently see for your pets, I highly recommend Dr. Smith.

Our usual vet was booked up and we needed immediate care for our dog and we were referred to this place. I am SO glad that we came here. The staff and doctors are amazing and super compassionate people. We had to say goodbye to our dog Shadow and they were so kind and understanding and I just can not put into words how amazing this place is. Thank you to the amazing doctor (I am so sorry I can't remember her name) and the sweet techs for taking such good care of our sweet boy and being so kind to us. I would and will recommend this place to everyone looking for an amazing vet clinic!

We have been going here for over 13 years. We always appreciate the thorough reports and options we are given by the doctors. The reception staff and management are great. The top notch customer service starts from the first phone call all the way to check out. We even get a follow up call the next day if we have had a sick dog to find out if we have any new questions, problems and how the dog is doing. Our dogs enjoy seeing the staff which to us says everything!!! Thanks to everyone!

I recently had to board my dog, Trinity, and was looking for a new boarding facility since I had become extremely dissatisfied with the facility that I normally use. A couple friends recommended the Howliday Inn and Suites at the Sangamon Avenue Veterinary Clinic. I made a preliminary visit to view the premises and came away quite impressed, so I immediately booked a reservation for Trinity into one of the suites. I also scheduled a bath for her on the day of pickup. The staff and technicians were very professional, friendly, and accommodating.When I picked up Trinity, she smelled wonderfully clean and fresh from her bath, and her bedding was clean and unsoiled. Trinity made me promise that I will never board her anywhere else. I'll keep that promise!

The staff was courteous and the waiting room and exam room were clean. Tech well, was trying to add to the bill before I could speak with the vet, but was courteous. Felt that the vet, though courteous, was difficult to understand due to mumbling and rambling on. This vet has been easy to understand in the past. Did attempt to express myself, but must have been the day for each of us. My pet was treated with lots of love from vet.

Sangamon Avenue has an incredible doggy daycare! I have been taking my dog there since she was a puppy and she has become very well known with the clinic staff. They have 3 doctors, all whom are so good at what they do and they are also very professional. I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else!

We love Dr. Smith and the staff at Sangamon Avenue Veterinary Clinic! They are friendly and take the time to talk through any and all concerns. They seem to genuinely care for our dogs and followed up with us multiple times following an issue one of our dogs had with surgery (unavoidable issue that had nothing to do with the care he received).

We are new to Sangamon Avenue Vet and are very pleased so far. Dr. Smith saw us last minute for an emergency and stayed late to operate on our dog. She was professional and very respectful as I discussed options and finances with my husband via phone. I am very pleased so far and to top it off, they even trim their client dog's nails for free! Bonus!

The vets at the Sangamon Ave. clinic seem to be good people. My dog had to be put down suddenly because of an infestation that I came about quickly. I asked the vet what I should do. She said they could start emergency treatment but could give no guarantees. She said the best thing for the dog would be to put her down. I gave consent, and upon walking back into the waiting room, the front desk staff were making rude comments about my misfortune. I will never give them my business again. It wasn't the vet's fault for this, but upon reading a similar review, I know that I'm not the first to be treated like this. There are other places that offer top notch services and compassion when it is needed. All it took for me to feel this way was one employee to shoot off her mouth. As if I didn't feel bad enough already.

Today was the first time I have been to this clinic. Unfortunately, it was a visit to put my amazing dog to sleep. The staff was so courteous and respectful, especially to my dog. This was the hardest thing I've ever had to do and they treated us like we had been going there for years and like they knew my dog and they felt our pain. The vet even hugged me when I left...They also didn't charge me for a vet examination because they knew when they saw him how sick he was and didn't want to charge me any unnecessary fees. ( I was warned by them they might charge an exam fee when I made the appointment with them) I will most definitely take my business there from now on. They made this hard decision to put him down a little easier. No excess paperwork, no waiting around. They were exceptional.

Unfortunately I recently had to put our dog to rest. The care and compassion shown by Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff was exemplary. It’s not a pleasant visit to say the least. Dr. Smith however, allowed us to take our time and say our goodbyes comfortably. I can’t thank them enough for easing the pain and suffering of our loved one.

This is a really good veterinary office to trust w/your beloved pets. Everybody is so nice & helpful. The place is clean & well set up, good neighborhood & plenty of parking. Handicap parking & accessible entrance as well. Their prices are in line w/other local vets.

I'll never bring my dogs here again as they labeled my male aggressive. He is not aggressive, he is reactive, and I am disappointed that they did not see fit to even tell me when they placed this label on his permanent file while he was still a PUPPY. They also turned us away when our female had a terrible infection and told us they could see us in three days. However, the vets themselves are all wonderful, and I was able to get an appointment for my cat to see a tech for a gland expression (our regular vets don't allow this service) so we will continue to utilize them for simple procedures as needed.

I've been bring my dog here for almost two years. She was not eating much and her stomach had been making noises for a few weeks. I called to make an appointment and could not get in for a week. During this time, she stopped eating, so naturally I called the vet, as this was getting serious. They were not able to get her in and did not seem that compassionate about the fact that my dog was not feeling well. There was a lack of empathy for my dog and I. I'm very disappointed.

They do great with my dogs, one of which doesn't always like most people. They trim nails for free, and when I had a question and sent it through their online portal I had a response in less than 24 hours. I love my Veterinarian.

I have been coming to SAV for over 15 yrs. I have received nothing but the upmost care for all of my fur babies. All of the Dr. have seen me at one point and all of them and all of the staff as well have taken great care and sometimes have went beyond the scope to help me and my fur babies. We go to this vet to Dr Sarah Smith she is a great Doctor and the staff is always ready to help when ever I stop by for anything or any questions.They are a little high on there prices. My little chihuahua baby has seizures so I do call them a lot with questions and they have no problem with this.

I needed to board my Siberian overnight in order to attend a graduation ceremony the following day. The facility was clean and the staff carefully labeled all of my items. In addition, they had contacted my personal vet ahead of time and had all of my dog's information. I found the staff to be accommodating, pleasant, and caring. I would certainly use this facility again.
