Been coming here for years loved the store until today just went shopping with my wife spent $100 and the cashier couldn’t say two words to us didn’t have the decency to ask us how we’re doing did we find everything no conversation whatsoever nothing but a frown on her face absolutely unacceptable maybe that’s how 18-year-old kids are nowadays

Love this store as it brings back so many fond memories and prices on meat and produce are great! Employees are also very nice and helpful. Customers seem to know each other and it makes the experience more enjoyable than those big chain stores.

Rethink before you shop here!!I have gone to this store several times since moving to the area since they are the grocery store closest to my house. This store is always dirty grungy like needs a really good scrubbing and smells kind of dirty too. The worst area is the 'fresh' meat area, it always smells rotten. But if you ignore all this and continue to shop there is so much wrong with how food is stored in this shop. Each issue I am listing is on a different shopping trip weeks apart.1) I went to get shredded cheese out of the cooler area, the first bag I grabbed was very warm so I decided to get a different bag/flavor, this bag was also warm.2) When shopping down the chip aisle a store employee had put the cone for slip hazard of a wet area in the chip bin and walked away leaving it there. The cone was dirty and I don't want to buy food that is stored in such a way.3) I bought cake frosting and used it a few days later, I don't know why I decided to check the expiration date but Im so glad I did. I bought the frosting in June 2019 it had expired December 2018.This store really needs to be inspected because I am sure they would be closed down. There employees are rude just to add to the experience. I have been sent to a different check out line because the employee doesn't feel like ringing me up. They have said this out loud with me standing right there, the light is on indicating they are open to check you out but they tell you to go to the other person. Go to a different store so you don't get food poisoning

Good neighborhood market, especially for certain items.It's the only place you can still buy La Preferida's canned black bean soup. They stock large bulk packages of certain items such as rice. And many of their fresh baked goods are really delicious. We tried a coconut pie recently that was so yummy.We haven't had good luck buying cheese here; several times we noticed mold when we got it home. Also unpredictable in terms of produce quality.Reasonable prices for the items we're buying. And staff has been friendly and helpful.

Love my local butera!They got 99% of the little stuff i need to cook,down to the Filipino soy sauce, even have my secret Filipino bbq sauce!The prices are amazing as well,some cheaper than WALMART.Thanks Butera!

A decent option that's nearby. Some of the staff are great, others definitely give off a vibe of not to be bothered. Overall, pricing doesn't beat other chains, and the stores appearance isn't a strong suit. Whenever there are sales on certain items that pricing beats out the rest of the competition. There is one younger guy with black or brown hair that "recently" got moved over to groceries. His attitude towards customers is top notch.

Store is a little dated which doesn't bother me. Store prices seemed fare but there selection of meat that was on sale was limited and didn't pass the eye test. I did go on a Sunday slightly after noon and the sale started Tuesday so I will probably give them another shot but 1st experience definitely makes me a little hesitant. Staff was helpful and accommodating

The staff is really helpful. The deli can be a little slow depending on the worker, but overall this place is so convenient because it's easy to pop in and pop out to get your essentials. It's a lot easier than running into Jewel.They have packaged nuts, dried fruits, and candies.They also have some ethnic foods that other stores might not have.Just recently they added gluten-free sections to their freezers and dry foods aisles.Overall, the price is pretty good here. They have a lot of deals throughout the store. It's not more expensive than other grocery stores when you weigh in the fact they have items here that other stores don't normal have. Also, if you talk to the manager, they can see about getting a particular item that they may not have. They are pretty good about that at these smaller stores.

The place is always busy, but the staff are good at what they do and move you through as fast as they can. The butcher shop is the best I've found both in cost and quality since moving out of the city and their product is fresh and seasonal. I probably shop here 4 or 5 days a week -- love it!

Very good small grocery store, there's a real butcher behind the meat counter and will help you if you need something special. Good ethnic isle with interesting stuff. I go there quite a bit....

Great customer service, small and organized. A few of the fridges look pretty old but other than that liked it. Our cashier has great customer service. And made both my husband and I laughed.

I LOVE this place because they carry Little Hug's. I haven't had those in 20yrs. A HUGE part of my childhood at Nana's. However, I was VERY disappointed in their frozen shrimp section. SPECIFICALLY the reason went. It was cluttered, disorganized and not much to choose from. A standard peeled and deveined 18 to 26 count bag aka Large, is $6 EVERYWHERE. I could have been reading it wrong but $9.99 is ridiculous.

Lower price point market with decent number of skews. Produce can be iffy. Not the cleanest store and the meats are not of the greatest quality. Store is poorly laid out and is in desperate need of updating in both fit and finish. Prices are pretty competitive though. You can get in and out quickly though.

Edit 2022- worst meat department customer service not sure why they always seem so inconvenienced when asking for help. Luckily the register people are pretty nice.Place is nice and in town and quick a little high prices on things but overall not bad

Anybody else noticed they are way over priced. Especially on the holidays. The price hike on meats is done without consideration for people who have no choice but shop there. Jewel is less expensive.

The prices are always excellent here. Unfortunately not really a place I want to shop for groceries. The prices on the shelves were generally not up to date. That is, the sale prices were not accurately reflected. The staff was not very helpful or friendly. Also, most of the employees very sloppy and unkempt in appearance. Not a very appealing combination.

I was just trying to be quick in and out, never happened!! There is always something at the lower price than other stores. Glad that I had a chance to stop by, milk 1.88$ for a gallon, 3lb gala or mackintosh apples for 2.99!!!

Only place among grocery outlets I've been to that had fully stocked shelves during the pandemic. How they pulled this off, the world may never know. Staff is also friendly. Shout out to you cashiers.

Butera is my go2 lower prices food store. Need to be careful on the fresh food items in this South Elgin location. Unlike the Larkin Ave Elgin store. Workers here are outstanding and friendly. Unlike the Larkin Ave Elgin store. I try buying most items here because I live in South Elgin and want the village to get the taxes I pay.

This place could do with a major overhaul... the carts, floors and checkout machinery is very tired and need some attention. I usually purchase some meats here as the pricing is actually competitive. Apart from this... cant say anything else.
