My buddies and I made a weekend trip to play 36 at TPC John Deere and 18 at Fyre Lake. It’s safe to say Fyre is not far behind. Me personally, I am a big advocate for links style golf and fun layouts, which Fyre possessed undoubtedly. The greens were rolling to perfection and it’s obvious to anyone who golfed here with us on 4/14 that it was well manicured. My one and only complaint was that the bunkers weren’t raked/mowed properly all throughout, leaving crumbly lies which resulted in the ball lying in awkward spots against the collar. I guess that’s why you shouldn’t go in them. Outside of the course itself, Mark (the owner) is a great personality. Very down to earth guy who was very involved in several different aspects of the course; (Pro shop, washing carts, dealing with maintenance, etc). For a morning weekend price of $55 with a cart, I was ecstatic. Luckily, I will be back here on 4/20 for their 4 man scramble tournament and I couldn’t be more excited. Highly recommend this hidden gem. 9.2/10.

Drove down from Milwaukee to play 36 at TPC Saturday and decided to add a round Sunday at Fyre Lake and am glad we did. Fyre exceeded expectations by a mile and is the best bang for the buck anywhere in the country. Greens were unbelievable (played May 5th, pro said they were punching that evening) and overall course conditions were phenomenal. Range was mats only which was disappointing, but service and vibes made up for it.

Don't let the gravel roads on the way to the course scare you away. You may be driving by farms but this course is no pasture. It is a hidden gem. The course itself is breathtaking and Mark and his team are very friendly. This is a family owned operation and they make you feel like you are one of their own. Any time I'm in the area I'll be trying to figure out how to pay this course a visit.

This is by far the best course in the area. Course is challenging and rewarding. The staff is always personal and the owner is always up for some conversations. Always a great time playing here

The course layout and hole design are top notch. I can’t recall a single hole that was not interesting in its own right. Management and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Good value too…will definitely be back!

Awesome all around. Great course, great price, can't wait to go back. Better than TPC. Could turn the music down a little.

Fyre Lake Golf Club exceeded all expectations. The greens were in impeccable condition, a true golfer's dream. The owner's enthusiasm was contagious, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. The friendly girl staff added to the welcoming atmosphere. Count me in for a repeat round – this course is a gem!

I am pretty surprised to just read the response to the last review from Max E. I actually agree with his review today. I also played and this is truly one of the best courses around. The course itself was awesome. However, no question it was poorly managed. Our foursome also waited to tee off at every single hole. It was a running joke with the other foursomes we kept running into. There was no ranger and no cart service with temperatures of excessive heat. I would highly recommend the course, but the service today was for sure under par. Feedback should be taken as constructive. It is very unprofessional for you to answer your reviews with such negative comments.

What a great course and exceptional management. Mark interacted with our group prior to and during the day. Group played 36 holes in a day and Mark was bustling all day checking folks in, cleaning and prepping golf carts, help greens crew and serving food and drinks. From what we heard the course was in dire need of fixing a little over a year or two ago and today the course is immaculate! Thanks Mark and crew for a great outting!

Nice shape, world class course given the financial history. New owner is taking pride to keep greens great in late fall. Counter girl was friendly and the only thing that could be better would be ball and club cleaners on the carts.

Amazing golf course. Course conditions were great. Staff are super nice. The guy who owns this place puts a boatload of time and effort into making the course a great experience. Can’t wait to play there again..

This place is so cool. The front 9 might be some of the best golf you can find.Mark who ran the place was very chill and welcoming of our group.Got 54 holes in with the fellas, the all day play rate is an absolute steal.Highly recommend - it is truly fire.I will be back.

I can't say enough about this course. Attention to detail. Each hole had its own feel. Some very majestic holes and the lake comes into play on 5-6 holes. We had a guys golf trip of 8 of us. We played Frye Lake, TPC Deere Run and Blue Top Ridge. This was by far my favorite course. People were friendly and accommodating. We played all day. The owner spoke to us a couple times and said feel free to play 8 together at the end of the day as no one was around. This is a must play for anyone near the Quad Cities. We will be back! Going to keep my eye on a rental on the lake and just stay there!

It’s hard for me to be leaving this 2-star review because I actually really like the course. However, the service and pace of play could be much better. Our foursome had a 5.5 hour round of golf last weekend and even after calling the clubhouse to see if they could speed things up, it did not get any better. The tee times were every 6 minutes so groups were backed up on every hole. No ranger around to help with pace of play and no refreshment cart. The only thing that helped make the round more enjoyable was the breeze and the breathtaking views. Hoping things improve before my next visit here.

One of the more unique golf courses I can remember playing. The individuality in each hole is what stuck out the most. $65 on a Sunday morning in August... Pretty much unbeatable value. Must play in the Quad Cities area.

Place is amazing. 55 bucks is a steal. Definitely worth the drive. Staff was awesome, greens were quick and rolled great. Layout is good, couple quirky holes but well worth the money.

Conditions from tee to green were amazing. The greens were a little on the slow side. Probably rolling about a 9.5 but they rolled plush and true. Elevation changes were challenging and fun. Taylor and Amelia greated us as soon as we walked in with a giant smile and made the experience even better overall as we popped in a few times. Will definitely play it again and anybody who comes into the area too play TPC must add this to their golf itinerary.

Pretty challenging course for how short it is. The cartpaths are pretty rough though. Was super windy today which made it even more difficult. Will definitely be back for redemption lol. Put a pic of the approach shot to an island green.

Great layout and well maintained. Rough was simply unplayable. Obnoxious loud music coming from the club house was very distracting. This is not LIV Golf! No water and no ball washers on the course. Very confusing from green to the next tee, especially on the front 9. I Played the white tees, but sometimes they were with the blues and sometimes they were with the reds. The owner decided to charge an extra $25 because the John Deere Classic was just down the road. Not sure what the JDC had to do with charging us more??? In a earlier review, the owner rudely answered a golfer that golf was made for foursomes, yet we followed a FIVESOME!! We have lots of choices when it comes to choosing a golf course. We definitely will think twice before returning.

A Top Notch Experience! It's been a couple of years since I had been to F L. Boy, what an upgrade! Greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, views. They have pushed an already VERY good course to new heights! Tough but fair. Value priced (while not cheap). Can not wait to return! Thanks!

Fyre lake was one of the best courses I’ve played this year. Mark, the PGA pro and Owner, was awesome in hospitality and information about the course. Mark and his team have done an amazing job turning this course around from the state of many reviews last year and before. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all in great shape…but warning that you need to be on the same tier as the flag or it’s a 3 putt risk.I can’t wait to see all of the changes the team is planning to continue to make and continue to improve on this great value gem.

Can’t say enough good things about this golf course. One of the best courses in Illinois. Really fun course and visually stunning. Worth the long drive from the Chicago suburbs.

Played my second round of the year at Fyre and it was even more impressive than the first. What an absolute gem that Mark and crew continue to work wonders with. This is a must play course if you're in the Quad Cities area.

Beautifully designed and maintained course!! Navigating in between holes can be slightly confusing as a few holes require some distance to the next tee. Arrows as a guide would be beneficial. Some holes have the 150 and 100yd fairway markers, but more would definitely be welcomed. Overall, excellent track. Highly recommended.

This is outstanding track and in great condition. Challenging but fair with lots of slope and spectacular views. In the middle of rural western Illinois but you might think you are across the pond. The owner was sharing his experiences of all the changes he has made. Play this course now and if you want to see the whole course play the tips and enjoy. But other tee options for all levels. Enjoy!

A great hidden gem. First time playing and only wish it was closer to home. Greens were firm and fast with crazy (fun) undulations. Some of the most unique holes I have ever played with a lot of great scenery. Fairways were great shape and I loved the natural bunker designs. It is visually intimidating, but there is plenty of room for error once you get the fairway and see where you need to miss. Tips are only 6600 but I would not recommend playing unless you are a 8 or below handicap. The new owner and his family are very friendly and there to accommodate you with anything you need/request. They are working non stop to make it receive the attention it deserves. If I was a local I would make it a point to support them over corporate owned courses with unnecessary rules. It is the perfect setup for golfers looking for a relaxing round with a home course feel that has the capability to challenge you as much as desired.

My first time golfing here. I play a lot of courses in the QC area and work at a PGA facility so I keep my expectations realistic for public and private courses. This is a special place! I don’t play weekend golf so I can’t speak for the weekend but weekday on a perfect day this place had an excellent pace of play. We finished just under 4 hours and we took our time (with cart) the fairways and lay out are challenging, even when you get a perfect spot the topography of the fairways makes footing interesting. Lots of potential here. I’ve heard it’s bounced around ownership so I was just looking to play and enjoy myself without the bustle of a public city course. I really enjoyed it, I can’t stress that part enough! Now the bad, the bunkers were basically sandstone, some had weeds growing in them so probably haven’t had much attention yet which I’ll give it to them. It’s early season still, weathers been ugly in the area so it is what it is. I saw the same thing at more established area courses so it’s on par if you will with most public courses. Some of the greens had sod laid down which you couldn’t realistically put over, they were in places away from the hole but none the less greens are sacred spaces and I feel as though I should have been told that they had recently aerated or that the greens had sod laid? Paid full price, I think 55 dollars? Rates are up across the board so for value I think it’s a nice choice. You can stay in town and play a city course for cheaper, deal with balls being hit into your fairways and slow pace of play waiting for other golfer or take a nice drive out here and help support a blossoming little spot. I will be back to play in the fall for sure. I think it’s got a lot of potential to be a very nice location once it gets a little more established.
