If you are local to Southern Illinois then you are aware of the this small town Jewel located in Sesser Illinois .The large drinks I wish were a little bit larger but the overall experience makes up for the drink sizes . It is Illinois and the times are tougher than normal to operate a small business. I’m glad it’s still around. I’ve been enjoying this place since I was a kid over 30 years

Please don't let the long lines detour you from stopping here. Those lines should tell you how amazing this place is. I had the orange sherbet(my personal favorite), my mother had the hot fudge sundae, my aunt had the turtle sundae(I will be trying this next time), and my daughter had a hot fudge milkshake(I tried some and it was so good).

Fast and friendly staff. It is a popular summertime hotspot to cool off with a cold creamy dessert. I tried the BBQ nachos which were amazing and was enough for a lunch/dinner. There are a lot of toppings to choose from to add to the nachos. Then, for dessert I had a small bowl of chocolate/vanilla twist. It all was delicious 😋🤤!!!

There was a line when we got there but it moved quickly and we got our order in a fairly short time. I got the upside down banana split and it was delicious! My daughter said the cheese cake flurry she had was really good too! The outdoor seating gave us a chance to visit and eat our ice cream.

As a native of St. Louis, every custard/ice cream place is immediately compared to Ted Drewes. Unfortunately I have yet to find one who compares to the TASTE of Ted Drewes custard. That being said, the prices, selection, and toppings are good. Line system like other small popular places is abysmal. You would be pressed to even find a proper name for this place if you weren’t looking. Can’t beat the prices. Would definitely stop by whenever in town.Rating is 4.3 out of 5.

The "Dream Twist" is so delicious 😋. Generous portions! I ordered a small in a cup. The Custard Stand beats any of the national name brand. Definitely worth the stop!

Great soft serve ice cream. Incredible steak burger served with all the toppings of a grilled burger. Highly recommend the orange dream and the brownie delight. We made a few trips over during our stay at Rend Lake and the line moves quickly, service is friendly and treats are top notch.

Every time we are staying in the Rend Lake Area we have to go to the Custard Stand and get one of their signature Dream Cones, Orange and Vanilla custard. Delicious! They also have hot dogs, hamburgers and such, no fries.

I love this place! The dreamsicle is a MUST and tonight I wanted to try their food and their no bun steak burger was delish! Worth the medium size lines (even though some people don't understand 6ft distancing....🤔)

Long lines sometimes but I live in the next town over, and I come almost weekly when there open. Know people that come from as far as an hour away for it. They even have pup cups. What's not to love

One cannot come through sesser in the summer time without making a stop at the custard stand. People have even been known to make a special trip to come get a tasty treat. The line may seem long, at times, but do not worry as it goes by fast. They are known for their delicious orange sherbert but do not be discouraged from trying any of their wonderful desserts. And if you are feeling extra hungry they make some great meals as well.

Really enjoyed their dream cycle, we live few hours away and a number of years ago we were camping in that area and have talked how much we enjoyed the ice cream especially the dream cycle at different times reflecting back, here it is 3/20/22 remembering our trip and the custard stand. Happy to see it is still there for others to enjoy.

The service here is so quick and friendly, and this is easily probably the best custard I’ve ever had. The selection is great and the serving sizes are perfect at a reasonable price. It is easy to access of the main road, and parking is pretty open as well, though they do have limited seating. This is a great place to stop for some quality dessert if you’re in the area. I would definitely recommend!!

They yelled out to make a second line and we stood there for 15 mins of them not getting our order, but they kept taking the first lines orders. And as soon as we moved over they went back to the second line and we’re ready to take an order now from the second line. It was my first time it was awful. No tip from us.

The Custard Stand has many delicious sundaes and ice cream treats. I go for their Orange Sherbet (soft serve). Vanilla and Chocolate are available too. Many people like their favorite flavor twisted with Vanilla.Be prepared to stand in line. I personally drive over 20 miles one way to partake of this treat. While taking home a quart costs approximately $5.50, my family often indulges in this treat. I encourage you to get at least two to ensure both you and your partner get to indulge.

Dont go there if your diabetic and get their sugar free chocolate or vanilla. You will be handed a very small plastic cup they pull a paper lid off and hand it to you...and its not good! I know all their other things are great...but come on...stepu up your game with the sugar free option!

They were busy but the line moved fairly quickly. There were so many people that all the seats were taken. I enjoyed my chocolate malt. Don't come looking for hard, hand-scooped ice cream. As far as I could see it was all soft-serve. I would take a DQ Blizzard over this hands down.

This is a fantastic place for ice cream cones, sundaes, shakes, etc! Famous for their dream cone - vanilla ice cream and orange sherbert swirled. Delicious! Be patient because there is always a line at the order window. Outside seating at picnic tables. They are closed from the end of October till spring (April maybe?).
