We have seen 2 doctors at this clinic. For multiple cats and my dog. The staff is very friendly! They take the time to explain all treatment options, all things medically wrong with your pet in full detail, can get your animal in quickly and spend as much time as it takes to make sure your pet is okay. I highly recommend them! They are great! They are also reasonably priced for office visits/shots. They are also the only vet clinic I have taken my pit to that didn't require sedation, which is a relief on my end as I don't like drugging my babies. They are always so gentle with my animals, and I really appreciate that. Thanks again guys! :D

My family and I have been using Dr. Etheridge as our vet for 25+ years and couldn't be happier. When I eventually moved out of my parents and got my own dog I knew that I would not be able to take her somewhere else. I drive 25 minutes across town because that is how comfortable and happy I am with Stephenson. The staff is extremely friendly, quick to get my dogs in when there is an emergency and have even called after a few days of my dog's spay surgery to check in on her and see how she was doing. I have no idea what these other reviews are talking about when they say "they're out for your money!" when Stephenson has saved me HUNDREDS of dollars. Their prices are so incredibly cheap and Dr. Etheridge tells us when we can save money on meds by giving my dogs comparable doses of human meds. Dr. Etheridge tells it like it is and has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that apparently some people don't understand. There is no BS and schemes to get your money, just an honest one man vet hospital. He has taken great care of every dog I've had the past 25 years and I will continue to take my pets there until he retires.

It feels almost impossible to find a good vet in Rockford. The vet was rude, he coldly waved his hand at us to signal he was ready for us, with a sigh. It was clear he didn't want to be there. He didn't communicate very well. Our pitbull had a bad flu and he told us to just keep doing what we were doing and gave him a shot for nausea. He vaguely answered any questions we had, and left us not asking if we had any final questions. The vet tech had to call his name to tell him we had a question. I simply did not like his "I know better" attitude. The only thing that was okay was that they wanted to avoid unnecessary costs, and the vet techs were very nice.

I have been to two other vets in Rockford and Loves Park through out the last 30 years with my pets. After my daughter had a traumatic expierence at the Loves Park vet, I decided to look for a new vet when I adopted a kitten and a dog. I called and made appointments for my new babies at Stephenson Veterinary Hospital. I can't tell you what a blessing it has been to have finally found a compassionate and very knowledgeable Veterinarian! Dr. Etheridge and his wonderful staff, take such good care and are so understanding of my pets and me. Dr. Etheridge is soft spoken and very gentle with my dog, Comet and my kitty, Chai. Thank you Dr. Etheridge and Staff for all you do to care for my pets!

Had my black GSD puppy in for undescended testicle removal. Doctor did a great job and the staff was really nice. I have been going there and trusting them with my beloved dogs for years.

Appauled at the service I received (or lack of).. went to take my dying min pin in to get looked at because of heavy bloating and excessive breathing & the two ladies behind the counter proceeded to deny my service with ZERO clients in the building. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! I was forced to leave and I put my puppy to sleep at 13 years old just an hour after leaving there.. she had pyometra. But the ladies behind the desk thought it was comical. Disgusting.

Omg...do not take your pet here this place is incompetent to say the least. New to area so needed a veteran because my small old dog was retaining water because of heart disease and in need of lasix as I told them. After a complete blood work up. The Dr puts my little guy on antibiotics...why? Then has me come back a week later and does xrays which tell us nothing he then gives me the lasix and says to come back in a week. lasix works I call and ask if my dog needs to stay on it they say yes giving me the web site to order meds. I do this but after 3 days of no news I called the online vet store where they told me that my vet hadn't approved the meds yet, shows how much they care. It feels like this vet is closing and trying toget all the money (they got enough form me) they can before they do. Old building, old x-ray machine, kennels empty, and so on...do yourself an pet a favor, go someplace else.

We have been bringing our furbabies here since i was a kid - My husband and i come here for all out pet needs - and concerns - I would highly recommend to bring your pets here --- they are reasonable in prices N they are all people who love N care for animals ---Dr. Etheridge is great - he'll explain everything to you & we have never had a problem with none of his staff - they are wonderful people :)

Absolute horrible service did not give any options to save my dog's life. They just let my puppy go. When I talked about wanting to send them to Emergency Care they acted like that wasn't an option without $1,000 down they have no care in the world unless they get the money

Terrible veterinarian. I was very polite and respectful to him, and he just speaks to you like you're an idiot, and you're bothering him. Sorry, but why are you a vet if you get easily irritated with people and animals?? Get a new job and a new attitude. You've lost my business!

Would give no stars...called them while on vacation to get records for my pet sent over...they couldn't find my pet and told me I must have called the wrong vet. My family has taken our pets here for the last 30 years...what do you mean I must have called the wrong vet? You can't even manage records, why should I let you manage the health of my fur baby?

Vet doesn't seem comfortable with cats.. didn't use techs to help hold mine down and had negative experience.. seen same cats not even react to a different vet.

This place is the same as other animal hospital but the difference is that for some stuff they are wayy cheaper almost like half cheaper.So for saving and small location its very great place
