This was our first experience at the Petco grooming in Rockford, always hesitant to drop my babies off (especially since one of our guys is newly adopted) I always have the guilt leaving them anywhere, however Caycee was amazing!!As soon as i walked in i instantly felt comfortable that my boys were in good hands. She kindly asked what we were wanting done and gave me options without making me feel like i needed to add on every service! You can tell she genuinely cares about your pet which is all one could hope for!! So not only was she amazing with the dogs but she also made them look amazing!! She did exactly what was asked and I’m super happy with the outcome! We will definitely be back!Also you get a punch card with the Petco app which is a nice perk!So happy we stumbled upon Caycee!!

They carry items intermittently. Always end up having to go to pet smart .Cashier today was very nice and helpful to the person infront of me and then didn’t even offer me a bag for my multiple items. Weird. Thanks MirandaI also didn’t look this time but last time I visited there were dead baby bearded dragons in the tank. Always sad to see

I asked her for a bag but apparently she knows better than me what I said. Horrible customer service. She must’ve been new. She admitted that she was having a conversation with her coworkers via her headpiece and was clearly distracted by a bystanding customer. But yet she was able to hear me say something I didn’t say. Maybe if she paid attention to her customers she wouldn’t have issues. PAULA

First time visiting this location. Store layout is good, clean and found what I needed fastWalked by a handful of associates and none of them greeted me or acknowledge me. I really didn't care since I didn't need any help but it's always nice when the associates atleast say "Hi" at a minimum. Store wasn't busy at all, maybe 2 other customers in the store.I walked the whole store. The pet care area was very messy and it had many shelves empty. Acouple endcaps were also half empty. But in general the rest of the store was fine. Wish they had more pet care products.On the way out the cashier was talking to another associates while I was waiting to pay. The one associate that didn't belong there just walked away and I wasn't sure if I could move up or what. The cashier didn't say hi, all she asked for was my number, not very friendly.I think the only opportunity in this location is associate friendliness.

This is the WORST petco I ever walked into. I took my daughter with me to get some feeders before easter. The store was dingy, dirty, and the employees were RUDE. Since this was my first trip to this location I wasn't familiar with the layout. I attempted to ask 2 separate associates for help in locating the feeders and a couple other specific brands of canine and feline items. The first person I tried to ask for help COMPLETELY ignored me and walked off as I was asking her, after making eye contact and turning around to face me when i said "Excuse me, can I ask you a question?" The second told me "Nope" when asked if they had feeders, which I later discovered they did on my way out of the store. Seems like there is a workplace culture issue within the store.Judging by other reviews I'm guessing this is par for the course for this location when one interacts with some of the employees.If the next step is for the (Owner) to respond to this review with an apology and state they will use the feedback to address the issues. Save the effort of typing. I just won't go back to that location. You dont have to say you are sorry, I know you are.The BEST part is, I found a local FRIENDLY pet store that does stock what I need at a competitive price. I wouldn't have found that place without the rudeness of the employees. So... Thanks?

03/30/24 15:14Caught a 7” Coral Snake outside the store, my friend got help at counter. The 1st was friendly & thankful and picked it up.The next two (manager/supervisor)? didn’t say anything but, “it’s ours and let’s go” as they walked away. No thank you, nothing. Didn’t need it. The snake would have died at some point. The attitude/vibe was rude. Their expression was as if it was burdening, a waste of their valuable time for the whole situation.

Sam the manager is super rude! I called Petco in Rockford Saturday night and talked to a nice lady about if the had any male cumberland turtles she said yes they have 6 turtles and someone could tell me witch ones are male when I get there. Sunday I got up and drove 40min to purchase the turtle. I met with Sam and said I would like to purchase a male turtle to go with my 2 female turtles I had purchased at Dekalb IL. weeks prior. She was rude and told me she couldn't tell me anything about the turtles it wasn't aloud, So I Google it and picked out the one I want to then be told I couldn't purchase it because I was going to put it outdoors in my fenced in pond. I showed her a picture of the fenced in pond and my other two turtles. She just got ruder.! The crazy thing is a fenced in pond isn't okay but they have 6 5inch turtle in one aquarium.

I goto PetCo a bunch. PetCo was going downhill in Rockford for a bit. Yesterday I went in twice. The first time I noticed new guinea pigs. Although the little glass enclosures are way too small. I understand this is completely temporary. There were 1 or 2 piggy’s per enclosure. And guinea pigs being prey animals, are often seldom in what’s called a splooch laying position in such a bright unfamiliar place. But all the piggy’s were completely splooched during my visit. The second visit I was even more surprised to see a couple of the piggy’s bouncing around in what’s called popcorning. I spoke to the manager, I think, she was super nice and stopped to speak to me about the changes. I made sure to let her know that I noticed the change. She told me there was a new general manager and he/she must be doing something right. The fish tanks were all nicely cleaned too. The fish themself were not that great and very few. But I know that’s not the stores fault. Great job keep it up!

Petco does not care about animals or their customers! I ordered food for my service dog and an infant animal 6 days ago. I even paid for shipping. It said I would receive the order by December 4th. They sent me a tracking number for a package they never shipped. I checked for 3 days and it still didn't ship. I called them and was told standard delivery is 5 to 7 days. It had already been 5 days going on six, and they had not shipped the order still so there was no way I would get it within 7 days. I spoke to the most rude representative named Nes who did not resolve the issue and put me on hold a couple of times while I was in the middle of asking her something and left me there for five plus minutes. After I hung up on her somehow I got an email from Petco support chat Department that showed some notes she put on my phone call. It was entirely untrue. She said she had offered to send me a same-day shipment of single packs till the bigger shipment arrived, but she did not. I did get an email that said a same day order have been placed for me yesterday and I would receive an email when it was on its way, but guess what? It never came either. So Petco took a disabled person's money under pure misrepresentation. And even when pleading with her on the phone yesterday that my 10-year-old service dog is going to be without food as of today they did nothing. As of now they still have my money that I budgeted to feed my animals and my animals still have no food and it's been 6 days. Check their tracking numbers again this morning and nothing has shipped still. They have no intentions of sending this order I guess they just stole my money. Most disgusting service interaction I've with animal care in my life! I will go out of my way to never give Petco another dollar of my money again.

So I went in to get a turtle for my new apartment... Telling the manger I'd need a temporary tank while I built him one seemed to be an issue. And he tells me if I need a 20gl tank, now most of their tanks that size are easily 100+... Which is a lot considering this is a temporary deal. But the guy won't budge keeps talking about getting the biggest size for him as an adult... Even though he's half that size. Whatever I say, so I came up with a pretty good idea. Look online says it's fine to house turtles in a large plastic tub. And I get one that's more than big enough. But dude still says no... Once again telling me to buy ours and it be okay... The manger this was. Bro talking about the creatures well-being while you got em in tank with water and a log yeah won't be coming here and headed to another store. If I were you I wouldn't come here either... Bunch of money grubbers.

Lots of supplies at good prices. I don't know about fish but their reptiles enclosures look really good. I'm giving them a 5 because I haven't found any problems, if I go back and see something has changed I will change my review

I honestly have not been to Petco in years... The last time I went there was to get my puppy's nails cut. I left her with the groomer and went into the store. I was paged back to the grooming area after my puppy had started trying to bite the groomer. I asked what happened and was told that she just freaked out and started trying to bite. I asked if they had cut a nail too short, was told "no", yet I saw blood on her paw and what looked like corn starch on her nail. I will never give them a dime of my money after being lied to...

I love coming here to see the cat shelter in the back of the store. They always have a bunch of cute cats and kittens. When I first visited, I didnt realize that they were a different organization than Petco, but I love to window browse the cats when I'm here. They're so cute, I wish I could just take them all home!

My dog was groomed incredibly well, with great attention given to personal preferences and my dog's comfort. She has had severely negative grooming in the past, and Petco has never been a problem. I'm back living closer to Petco again, and they will be the regular groomers from now on. Highly recommend. Jace is amazing, and other groomers were also working with great care and compassion towards their little furry customers. Jace did exactly as i'd hoped, with a somewhat 'summer' twist to a usual mini-schnauzer haircut (I'm not a fan of the sharp angled cuts)... my pup came home much more comfortable :) Edit- Second appointment was very good- and Jace again made my dog look good- and she was calm and happy when I picked her up.

Petco is the only place that carries my cats food. Yes, I love my fur boys and I feed them only the finest. However, anytime I come in here it's always the same old story, whether it is on sale or not the stuff is always out. Years coming here might have just steered me to go checkout PetSmart and only hope to have the food my guys eat in stock. Animals get hungry too, not just at certain times. Plus we all know it's not good to constantly mix up your pets food and brands. For a pet specialty store they should really consider being able to keep food in stock.

The cashier was busy trying to clean up after someone's dog that had urinated all over the floor, and she was apologizing for the mess. Despite all of this distraction, she was very pleasant and friendly at the cash register. I was impressed by her ability to multitask and still work efficiently.

First of all, no one greets you when you walk in the door, then we stood in the fish department for maybe 20 minutes. And no one ever came to help us. Then I went to get prepackaged crickets, and every single one of them were dead. The only thing good I have to say is the gentleman at the register was very nice.

Ordered 80 dollars worth of fresh food got all the way home across town and the food was moldy. They keep your online orders in the fridge with the food that’s for sale. The manager couldn’t do anything for me so why even have a manager Danielle is rude and tells me to call customer service. That lady at customer service is just as rude no one here thinks you deserve anything for all the time and gas you spend fixing their mistakes!!!! They are the ones who put moldy food in a customer’s online order than they don’t think they even should put 5 dollars on your account for your inconvenience. I spent a lot of money here but I will now pay more for products even if they are cheaper here just to spend my money somewhere else. I’ve never got this treatment at petsmart.

I had my cat with me that is a registered ESA. A young lady that works here went to come up and pet him until she saw his working pet tags, apologized and gave my cat some space. . No one has ever given that amount of courtesy to my cat before. Though it wasn't required, she still went the extra mile. I didn't catch her name, but because of her, I will return to Petco all the time.

The staff have been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful each time I have been. The kids enjoy looking at all the little critters and our dog enjoys going to sniff all the things! Toy selection is good.
