This Dollar General has a bit of a problem keeping employees. I've made several attempts to shop here and they had closed the store because "no one wanted to work" is what the male manager told me. He said their cashier had walked out and they had no one to run the registers. This has happened about 3 or 4 different times that I'm aware of. Other than that happening the only other issue I had when I was able to shop was the lack of products but I understand they don't really have control over that situation, all grocery stores are having trouble with distribution. This location is kept clean and has always been able to keep prices down making it one of the cheapest places to buy groceries. The female manager at this location has been here for many years, she's always been very helpful and knowledgeable about the products. She's always friendly to the customers making the experience pleasant. She's the whole reason I shop at this location. She works hard and many hours. I personally saw her pick up the slack of one of the cashiers, keeping the line moving during a really busy time.They have competitive prices and for a dollar store, they have a decent selection. I give them 5 stars because as far as everything they can control or do, they do and make the shopping experience smooth and fast. Employees are trained to do their best but that's entirely up to them if they manage to do it, not the store of their manager.

Every time I come here they're closed when they should be open it's almost 10 in the morning on a Thursday had this problem on Monday what are you talkin about last week there were closed for the whole day to restock the store I've never heard of such a thing how do they stay open to pay the bills

I really don't understand how this place can stay open. Several times a week they're closed for 'stocking' yet theres never anything new or changed. The lines at the register when they are open are outrageously long and it takes forever to purchase just a few items. The worse part is when you Google store hours they say online that they're open but then you get there and there closed. Maybe update so people don't waste time and gas for no reason.

I went there today 03/10/2022. I road my power chair there 3/4 of a mile using my limited battery life chair. As my only transaction. And it was closed again for restocking? So I had to leave. I can't come back until my chair charges up again. I don't understand why during the middle of the day. When they are supposed to be open. They close? Why can't they have people restock at night after they close? That's what the other stores used to do. Now I Have to do without getting my stuff I need for another day. a good selection of stuff with a mix of produce and groceries. Sort of like a mini Walmart. Without the electronic department.Today I have to go over a mile to get to the store in my power chair. They were closed until 4:00 for restocking. I had to go back home in the cold without anything to recharge my chair to go back. But since I had to do that I'm not going back to that store. Every grocery store is over a mile to get to an any direction from where I live. if they have to close during the daytime to restock then maybe they shouldn't be a store. Especially during covid when I need them.

The clerks are ALWAYS awesome! Helpful, cheerful ( we know how seldom that occurs ) it is actually a pleasure shopping here. They have at least a little bit of everything, it sometimes surprises me that they have something I need! The Perfect place to go between your monthly grocery shopping. I have, and believe you can have complete faith in this PARTICULAR Dollar General.

They have good cheap name brand make-up and more name brand stuff then family dollar. But you can't go wrong with Dollar Tree on your team neither. I usually shop one or the other mixed with Dollar Tree. Place was under stock being put up so boxes were everywhere. Other then that good place of business.

Rachel is AWESOME, She makes the store With her great people skills, and also Robert he is VERY friendly and BOTH are willing to help if needed. I love that store.

The store is usually well stocked, and they carry a good variety of items that can make them ALMOST a one stop shop. The only real issue is the location- it is in a slightly lower class area where panhandlers are frequently over aggressive and deadbeats congregate :/

The most friendly staff in Rockford! absolutely love brittany and Rachel ! They make the store ! If they ever left I'd take my business elsewhere! They deserve much more than what their getting for what they do !

I love prices, the quality and the selection of everything they have. The employees were friendly. It made it easy to get stuff I needed and of course stuff I didn't need (having two kids with me didn't help) lol. Overall definitely a good experience

I would give zero stars if it would allow me.I’ve been shopping at this location for about 8 months since I’ve moved here from Texas. All the other staff have always been friendly and accommodating. Any time I have come in contact with the store manager she has always been unpleasant with me.I came in a couple times today and purchased a total of $70, now mind you I shop here frequently.This last time I purchased a few items, detangler, hair clips, elastic bands, some snacks and a pop.I browsed through their books right upfront for about a second then proceeded to the register where my boyfriend waited for me.I got to the car and was pulling out of the parking lot when I realized I forgot the one thing I actually came for.I ran back inside ask the first attendant where the starch was and she told me the isle. I walked to the isle and the manager met me over there and told me in a violent profane manner to leave, I asked excuse me and she repeated once more. I then asked why and she accused me of theft!!! I was floored by the way she spoke to me unprofessionally and was making false accusations against me. I then asked her to tell me what I supposedly stole and to please show me the footage of me committing such an act. She refused, I asked her to please contact the authorities. I know she can’t refuse the police to look at footage and that I wanted an apology.She lied and said she called, I waited and then I called them. The dispatch informed me it was shift change as well as my call is a non emergency and will be handled accordingly to it’s relevance. Mind you I ran in here right before getting ready for work. I have contacted customer service and messaged them on Facebook and no one reached out. I am pushing for the footage to be reviewed in a timely manner by someone higher than her or I will sue for defamation of character. I am too held to a higher standard being a General Manager of an establishment that holds their brand to the highest standard.I will continue to share until I get a rightful apology for being falsely accused and slandered.

I got to the store at 6:50pm on a Monday night. I tried to walk in only for them to have the doors locked to tell me they are Closed. The store says they close at 9pm not 6:50pm. I won’t be shopping here again

The staff singles out African Americans and treats them all as stereotypes which I find hard to understand because the manager is a transgender. I've seen them interact with a couple of customers and although not directed towards me I was very offended by the way they treated them.

On Charles St.? I'd never go there again. The older woman cashing there is a mean old gal. I'd never been there before, I wondered why they had very tall poles on their carts. I could barely walk to leave the store (I have OA) so I thought I'd take a cart to our car. Now I know what the poles are for. I couldn't get out the door, the pole hits the top of door. That woman totally yelled at me NOT to take that cart outside! There are no signs. But she stared a hole in me till I got out of there. Another thing was, they had several isles so full of stock,no way could you even see down them. Never will I go there again.

I,hate that they always keep their deeply discounted items high above the shelves, where "paying customers" can't reach them. I even overheard a manager talking about how she/he was gonna come back for some! Smfh

Only 6 blocks from my house, and if I just want to get out and shop. Very reasonable pricing just a very nice place to live close by. Always clean and convenient.

Great place after the remodel lots of new items much bigger freezer and refrigerated section plus fresh produce really did a great job on the remodel and the employees are fantastic

Wow this is the nicest Dollar General I have ever been in they have fresh vegetables meats house hold things very clean very nicely kept store

I like dollar general bc if the convenience. But the prices have gone up too much. We use to call it the dollar store for a reason. Not anymore.

About what you would expect for a dollar store. Had a hard time finding what I was looking for. Since I knew they had it I kept looking and found it on top of a shelf in the section next to where I thought it would be. Registers were extremely busy and backed up.
