Quaint 24 room lodge in a quaint friendly town. The surroundings are tranquil and picturesque & being greeted by the very friendly and super helpful Miss Betty set the tone for the entire stay. Great area for walking, hiking and shopping. Artisan shops fill the day when weather doesn't cooperate or you can sit in the beautiful sitting area and make new friends while you try out the different collection of rocking chairs! Each room is unique as the ambience. The bar is a fun place to have a drink and enjoy a snack, or two, while you take in a sporting event. I highly recommend the wings and pizza is pretty good too. Take advantage of the welcoming walking areas early in the morning and you will witness Mother Nature at her best when you catch the glow of the early morning sun on the sparkling river as the morning mist makes it's way through the winding railroad tracks. There's a breakfast daily, muffins, fruit cereals and of course coffee & juices. If you're looking for recommendations as to attractions and happenings in the area by all means ask Miss Betty....she's is the friendliest knowledgeable person & will be more than happy to assist. This is a definite weekend getaway calling your name!

We stayed the night in Petersburg and chose to stay at Riverbank Lodge.The hotel itself was very cozy and relaxing. The room we picked was a tiny economy room with a river view. It had no refrigerator or microwave which we were expecting.Every time we called to ask questions, they would answer the phone and answer any questions I had.The check in was easy and the receptionist was nice.The room was comfy. The bed was a little to firm to our liking but still sleepable hahaBreakfast includes to go items, cereal, waffles and muffins. We chose to eat elsewhere.They have a bar, pizza and wings at the Lodge as well. We did not use the services.

We have been coming here for about 13 years and always come back to see friends and the staff at the lodge. Small quiet gather place with great pizza and drinks. Very friendly workers who take great pride in their work. The rooms are very clean and don’t smell like some hotel rooms. It’s a safe area and you can walk the whole town and the town square is just a few blocks away. Definitely worth a stay if you want to visit the small towns nearby.

We wanted a place close to New Salem and this fit perfectly. Although no elevator, we managed fine. Very quiet, clean & comfortable. Loved the wide range of pillow options on the bed - soft to firm & in between! Nothing fancy but but a great stay! Enjoyed sitting outside soaking in the beautiful evening. After touring many cities, the small town was a very welcome break. Thank you for the accommodations.

My daughter and I stayed this past weekend. We were in for the State Fair. I did lots of searching for a place to stay and made my decision based upon reviews and prices. (I didn't mind the 30 minute drive to the fair). This place is super unique, quiet and friendly! Definitely felt more like home and not another franchised hotel. We were in the lower level while there's no views of outside it wasn't necessary for our trip. We got the flatbread pizzas! They were not lacking toppings!!! So good. When we come back down for the state fair, we'll definitely stay here again!!!! Second time staying in the vault and love it, room is big clean and comfortable, and the shower is awesome. The food is amazing, and the staff are all wonderful, always around and willing to help with whatever is needed or just have a little chit chat, they are there for whatever you need.. highly recommend this place, we will be back for sure..

UNSAFE PLACE TO STAY - AND THEY DO NOT CARE A BIT!THEY LEFT THE DOOR TO OUR ROOM WIDE OPEN FOR HALF THE DAY - AND DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT.We stayed at the RiverBank last week and I am beyond disappointed and honesty furious about how they have handled a serious safety issue. We left the hotel for a few hours on Saturday to go have lunch and enjoy festivities in the square - while we were gone housekeeping "serviced" our room - they didn't bother making the bed, but and brought clean towels and emptied the trash -- and apparently just walked out, and left the door 3 ft open. I expected to see housekeeping in the room, or somewhere near by --- but they were no where on the floor - and considering that they come by early in the day - the door was left wide open, with roughy $5k worth of laptops, ipads and personal belongings, just sitting out for anyone who walks by to help themselves to. When I went to the front desk to let them know, and give them the opportunity to make it right - the woman literally JUST SHRUGGED AT ME and said "I don't know nothing about that" ... THAT'S IT. Upon checking out I talked to her again and she had the same bored attitude and didn't even offer an apology - but instead asked "well was anything stolen?" !!!!My information was given to management and they never bothered to contact us. So leaving an honest review feels like my only option.THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE - on top of our room just being left wide open, there is a "gaming room" and a bar on the first floor with plenty of interesting characters coming and going, none of whom are staying at the hotel. And I'm sure they make more money from those noisy slot machines than they do the actual rooms in this hotel.THE ROOMS ARE DISGUSTING - I ended up showering in my sandals after realizing that the bathroom tile was BEYOND FLITHY - check out the photo of the actual color or the grout, to see just how dirty the bathroom is. The carpets were equally disgusting. The bedding was pilled and old. You can feel the springs from the bed in your back the second you lay down.None of these things would have garnered a review from me, but the fact that my entire professional worklife was locked in my room and then just left open by housekeeping and we didn't even get as much as an apology - THAT is why I'm here. THIS PLACE IS UNSAFE AND THEY DO NOT CARE.EDIT AFTER RIVERBANK RESPONSE:They say they pride themselves on customer service - this is lipservice for the sake of reviews -- when we discovered our room open, I went to the front desk and was met with such a lackluster response - the woman literally SHRUGGED at me. I went back to the front desk the next day as we were checking out and actually said "I'd like to give you a chance to make this right" -- I was again met with a blaze attitude, and had to PUSH to get her to take my information for the manager to call me. "Management was informed that you'd be calling us" -- why would I CALL YOU - YOU MESSED UP - you also had my name & phone number - I was told you would call. You "didn't want to disturb me" by calling? This list of excuses is so lazy. Had you called, and did ANYTHING to help - I would never have bothered with a review. And I don't think you would have ever bothered to refund us or contact me had I not done this. I will absolutely be staying else where in the future.Rooms: disgusting and out dated -- showered with my flip flops onSafety: completely unsafe - housekeeping left our door 3ft open from morning until we came back in the afternoon - leaving our work laptops, ipads and personal belongings exposed to anyone who came by. Hotel also has many people wandering around from the noisy room of slot machines and bar on the first floor. We saw more people who were there for slots in the hotel than actual hotel guests. No apology or attempt to correct the security breach to our room was made. Staff did not care at all.

Set your expectations properly and you won't be disappointed. This is a small town hotel, with a bed, a beautiful quilt, a small bar with food, and a beautiful lobby. If you are hiking, hunting, or traveling, this place will serve you well. It is not a resort or big-city fancy place. No elevator. Had to carry luggage up the steps. My husband fell on the steps. Room was very small with no closet. Room was very cold. Could not adjust the thermostat in the room. Was probably broke. Staff was v ery friendly. Shower was difficult to operate. Had signs in bathroom how to work t h e shower.Safety: Not recommend for disable person.

With limited selection of dining options in Petersburg we decided to give this place a go. The dining area was extremely busy but we didn't mind the wait. Staff were very friendly & the service itself was great. The Mexican pizza & smoked wings were rather disappointing. The pizza was lacking any real flavor with every bite. My personal opinion is if u used taco sauce instead of marinara, added shedded lettuce, a better quality shredded cheese & topped it with crushed nacho cheese Doritos this would be a hit. As for the smoked wings, they were overcooked but I could tell they had potential. The garlic parmesan pretzel bites were ok. Not great but not terrible. With a roughly $50 + tip ticket. I think it'll be difficult to convince the wife on a return trip. On the bright side we have two large dogs that devoured 3/4 of the leftover pizza we brought home. They gave the pizza ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had dinner here in the lounge and the pizza was very good. The server did an amazing job taking care of us! The pizza was LOADED with ingredients! We left with half a pizza and we were stuffed!Food & drinks: Check out the lounge! You won't be disappointed!

This Lodge was very nice, clean, and had great staff. The bar is popular even among locals because the thin crust crunchy pizza is to die for! About 3 miles to New Salem trails. Nice continental breakfast, and also a Cafe across the street (closed on Monday). Quiet rooms. Beautiful hotel design.

Amazing Place to stay!! We walked in and was totally impressed at the way it's decorated to carry out the theme of the town.Staff was Friendly and Extremely nice. The food in the bar area has a wide variety. Also they have a little store area where I bought a T-shirt and Sweatshirt. We definitely will be back!!

Very quirky place, love the lodge decor in the entrance. Rooms are very dated and ‘retro’, not 100% clean - the jet bath had a dirty ring around it after use. Simple breakfast cereal, bagels, pastries, juice and coffee. Lovely view of the river and walking distance to the cute little town of Petersburg - worth a visit! (Right but a train track but we didn’t see/hear any trains)

My wife and I stayed there while we were back in town visiting family. The Staff was truly wonderful to us the whole time we were there. I grew up in the area and had an amazing time talking with the staff about people, places and things in the area. We felt like we were staying with old friends. The pizza was great and the company was casual. It will be our ' Go To' when in town. Thanks for everything!

Cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. It's clean, it's comfortable, it's cute, the toiletries are top notch, but the staff...if I could give 10 stars I would...PLUS! This is by far, my favorite place to stay as a travel nurse. So warm and hospitable.
