This team absolutely knows what they're doing - even the techs. Our previous vet, who will go unnamed in Chatham, charged us an arm and a leg for basically nothing for our cat that was so sick he looked like he was about to die. We took him here after to get a second opinion and walked out with the medication and care he needed and deserved. Very impressed. The wait was a bit long, but well worth it.

If I could do zero stars I would!! I won't recommend this place to anyone ever again. Heard so many good things about it and would tell others about it until I actually used them and got screwed. So we took my son's dog in for a small cut on his back to make sure it was ok and didn't need stitches, it was fine but he had a huge mass on his leg that the vet told us needed to be removed ASAP. So we made an appointment and they couldn't get us in any sooner that June 3rd and this was the beginning of April. So since the vet said he would be ok we thought nothing about it. Well a week later it really started to bother him and I called and the girl told us she would talk to the vet and call us back which she did and vet said he'd be ok so we left it at that until about two weeks later he couldn't even hardly walk it had gotten bigger so I called again. She said at first I still had to wait then asked us to send a pic so we did. Finally they decided he needs to come in sooner than June so they got us in two days later. They quoted us $450 plus his meds so we thought that's not bad no problem. Well we took him in and had the mass removed and when it was time to pay it was $970 totally so over $500 more than what they quoted. I said something to the girl, can't remember her name, a red head young girl and she says, "omgsh we never like over charging our customers. If we quoted you $450 that's what you should have got charged. I'll talk to the vet tomorrow and give you a call first thing because that's not right." And was 90% sure the mass on his leg was cancer by the way. But was going to make him wait to have it removed because he would be "ok". Wanted to charge another $200 to test it to make sure it was cancer after charging $970 but she was going to deal with it to get some money back. Well here we are a week later and no phone calls from anyone. They don't care that they overcharged us as long as the Dr got paid. When you quote someone a price maybe you should stick to that!! They don't really care about you or your pet they just want the money and they clearly showed us that!

We are not from the area and ended up coming here by referral because our dog needed emergency surgery after a broken leg. We were so impressed!!! The staff was amazing, they took wonderful care of our dog. Everyone was kind, informative and took the time to answer all of my questions. The facility is beautiful and super clean. The surgery went well, the incision looks great, we are very pleased. This is the kind of place you want to take it pet and know they are ok.

If shirding had not convinced me (infactually) that annual bloodwork for birds was invasive and unnecessary (both not true) my birds kidney decline would have been caught early enough to have been managed, and entire year early enough to have managed it and had more time with her - but I trusted the vet. Tldr, Staff treated me horribly when i was nothing but kind and vet gave misinformation.Dont be fooled by staff initially being "nice" and seemly friendly. this stops the second you need them to do their job, you will be paying for your pet to not receive proper care and for staff OVERALL not even just one person not take proper records. Just a trainwreck of mistakes for the 2 years I was a customer, going above and beyond what understaffing or underpayment issues might excuse employees of.Abysmally rude staff who will grow irritated if a client dares have questions about the health of their pet. Isn't that what the entire place is supposed to be about? Staff also lost a fecal sample the vet asked me to bring in for one of my pets last year, they did not know they lost it, I waited 4 days that could have been dangerous for my pet before following up MYSELF and they said "what sample?" - horrifyingly careless, and staff member Lisa was curt and did not even say sorry for your loss the morning after a pet died and became unreservedly irritated when I had questions about if they had had anything contagious to my other pets or not. Again, heaven forbid a pet owner care about their pets care. It doesn't matter if the vet is good if staff are this careless.Edit: I had it confirmed by another exotic vet that Dr. Schirding's care was not thorough and HIGHLY inadequate. Had she listened to me and not talked me out of annual bloodwork for my bird claiming it could have been harmful and invasive to her, her kidney decline would have been caught a YEAR before she died and could have been managed. MAYBE SHE SHOULD SLOW DOWN AND TAKE HER CLIENTS SERIOUSLY. When my bird was dying I was repeatedly told "just keep an eye on her" and treated by ALL PETERSBURG STAFF as if I was simply anxious. I called their emergency line two days in a row and was blown off. I've also heard from a friend that Schirding gave them incorrect information about their bearded dragon. SHE ALSO TRANCED MY BUNNY TO TRIM HIS NAILS WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR THEIR HEARTS. For an exotic vet, apparently she knows nothing about exotics. DO NOT TAKE YOUR EXOTIC PETS HERE. Had I been treated seriously, I could have spent my birds last 2 days playing with, loving her and keeping her comfortable. Instead I was treated like I was fussy and too anxious and went to work because Dr. SCHIRDING said "she's just tired keep an eye on her" like she was Nothing. Nothing. I'll never get that time back, that precious time, because I trusted this woman and now my pet is dead. Staff manager Kerri is nice but I'll never get that time or my pet back. I will remember this and never forgive these people for the rest of my life.edit 2: upon having to call them AGAIN about records being sent but still incomplete Kerri immediately said "don't get smart with me!" because I asked "did you listen to me?" (she just kept saying they were sent when I was saying they were sent saying Pending which I saw at the U of I) so I guess she's not that nice either.

I took my dog Sadie for a second opinion to this vet, for n her knee last of June. She was put on previcox, and Adequan. 1st of August she has kidney failure and we had to put her to sleep. She was a robust 9 yr old, our hearts are broken 😭

Brought my dog here to get checked out due to our usual vet being completely booked. The staff had no sense of urgency and it was a completely unprofessional and unorganized experience. I was to getting her in and evaluated due to her not eating or breathing well. Instead of telling me it was her time to go and I could’ve put her to rest sooner and more peacefully, they did one x-ray and bloodwork, $700 later and it took them 3 days to get back to me with results. Then two days after I left the clinic I had to watch my baby girl who was 10 years old suffocate to death in her sleep. They should’ve told me there was nothing that could’ve been done in cases like this. This was such a heartbreaking experience. These people are not here to help your pets and only want your money. I HIGHLY recommend to not bring any pets here.

We started using petersburg vet clinic when we lived in Springfield and absolutely loved them. We now live in peoria and continue to use them. We'll worth the drive. Best vet clinic I have ever been to. Just recently had an issue with our dog and asked if we could get her in on short notice. They took her within hours and were able to help her out. Can not speak highly enough about them!

I took my dog there on September 10th to have a FHO surgery done on one of his hips. They are absolutely the best! The care they have for pets is absolutely amazing. They took the time to talk to my husband and I. They answered all of our questions and concerns we had. Before we took him here we had a consultation with Purdue university and we had a horrible experience with them. This place is by far the best! The doctors and vet techs are amazing. We look forward to have his other hip done in the future!!!

When my rabbit was only a few months old, she broke her back leg.. After calling multiple vets and being told the best I could do was put her down I found Petersburg Veterinary Clinic. They told me they could fix it and she would be fine... She is now 9 years old and still going strong!!

Staff was very, very, nice and very understanding during our a very rough decision making and the tearfull decision we made to let our 16 year old friend and family and my buddy go. Such an amazing veterinary clinic! Took my guinea pig here, she was suffering an abscess. Dr. Lee did an amazing and caring job with her! Pricing is fantastic and they got my guinea pig fixed up in no time. Very helpful and kind staff. Very inviting and warm surroundings. Quick to get me in each time I call. Highly recommend and will continue to come here :).

My cat started having seizures and they got me in same day I called and we had never been there before. They were very reasonable in prices and did a amazing job. I had to call after hours twice over the weekend due to the seizures continuing and both times they got me to Dr right away and they adjusted dosage of medicine. Best vet I have ever been too by far!!

Wonderful staff awesome office and very reasonable prices. I brought my dog in because he is old and has hip problems. They gave him arthritis meds and some stuff for pain. It's like they gave me my best friend back. His quality of life is so much better thanks to the staff here. I would give them tens stars if google would let me. Thank you so much keep up the amazing work. I know my furry buddy Jeb appreciates it.

We have seen the veterinarians here for both dogs and cats and also for exotics and they have been wonderful. The prices are reasonable and they are very caring to their patients and their owners. Their building and grounds are very nice. The only complaint I have is that they do not ever respond to appointment requests through their website, ever. But that is a very small thing to me. I would and do recommend them.

I came to Petersburg with an Emergency for my 11 week old puppy and the staff was amazing. We had been to our vet multiple with the same issue and never getting the answers or help we needed. I can not thank this staff here enough for helping my puppy start her way to recovery. If it wasn’t for them I believe she would not have survived. I will always come to them for my pets in the future!!

I will never go to another vet. I drive in from Springfield and it’s worth it. No place can compete with their prices but more importantly, they’re love of every animal they see.Every time I call for an appointment, they have gotten me in within 2 days.I’ve seen all 3 doctors there and I love them all so much!! At every appointment, the first thing they do is give my dog a bunch of lovings and talk to him, even just check ups.I trust them with my dogs life. I have been in there crying and worrying about my dog only for them the calm me down and solve the problem on the spot.The building itself is beautiful and clean.Every employee in that clinic are angels.
