My husband and I have enjoyed lunching at Broadgauge. I love it when historic buildings are reclaimed and revitalized! The food is delicious, and the service is great. My favorite meal has been a turkey sandwich which reminds me of the full turkey dinner. I’ve opted away from the chips to the spinach salad and would do it every time. Next time I plan to take baked goods home from the bakery.

My first time here tonight and it was AMAZING! Our server Parker was absolutely fantastic! He was very attentive and so friendly. I can honestly say I do not have a SINGLE complaint. We both got the New York strip with mashed potatoes and greens. It was the best steak I have ever tasted at a restaurant. Our original reservations were for outside but they accommodated us by finding us a table inside due to the heat which was honestly amazing of them. We will absolutely be back as it was worth EVERY PENNY! Thank you Broadgauge for an amazing anniversary dinner. ❤️

Hidden gem! I happened upon this restaurant while I was driving through town and I'd say it would be worth the hour and a half drive to go again! The service was top notch - friendly & prompt even though it seemed very busy. All the food was excellent & high quality ingredients. I even ordered dessert which was well worth it. Lovely atmosphere in their beautifully renovated historic location.

Let's begin on the absolutely beautiful renovation. You walked into the place and 1st impressions are wow, this place is amazingly beautiful. This is a major development for Petersburg bring what has the feeling up of very upscale venue. It provokes the feeling of comfort and relaxation. The photos are just a sample of the atmosphere presented. Having spent several years in Chicago and enjoying numerous restaurants there I appreciate places like this in Central IL. Its a new place so I'm sure it adapt to the process and become a destination you truly enjoy.

Re: the Big Lebowski watch party. I had a dang good time at this event? Probably the best thing I have done all year. I would seriously love this to become an annual event. Like everything was pretty spot on. Cowboy Randy was amazing. The host was great and the audience was superb. Let's do this again next year. And if you want some extra help, just let me know.

Look. I feel like I'm stepping out here because my family loves this place, and the food is decent. But I've been here 6 times, and the service is extremely poor. It's hard to find good help, especially in a small town. It's hard to run a good restaurant without good help. Each time I've been, it's been a frustrating experience. Last time, I asked the server how her day was going. "Busy," she said in a complaining tone. I looked around and saw 5 occupied tables and 2 servers. I asked for ketchup, a simple request. She never brought it. I asked for a soft drink. She never brought it. This is after it took the hostess 15 minutes to seat us in a near empty restaurant at lunchtime. I honestly wished I had gone to Dairy Queen. I understand the can sympathize with the underlying causes and conditions that made my experience suck, but that didn't make it suck any less. A 75 dollar lunch, and I was just disappointed all around. At least at Dairy Queen, I go in with the expectation of poor service, and I get a better cheeseburger. Sorry, y'all, I won't be back.

I usually do not write reviews, but felt compelled to write this one because I want the restaurant to succeed as a destination venue. The concept is wonderful and the building does not disappoint at all. The people involved have beautifully restored the charm and elegance of the Broad Gauge building. The décor is lovely. I realize we went on the second night the restaurant was open and that likely has a lot to do with why I am giving the experience a 2/5. I am trying to be honest, but fair.Food: I was so disappointed. I left the restaurant not even full. Much of the menu was not available due to running out of product (which again, I can understand because of the grand opening). We ordered both appetizers and the staff completely FORGOT about them. We waited an hour or so to eat only entree's. I had to remind the waitress as she was bringing our entree's and she herself did not realize we never got the appetizers. The salad and soup came AFTER the entree's were given. I had to ask the waitress to bring them. The salad was not as advertised on the menu due to being out of product. My scallops and the rest of the plate were tasty, however the food was not warm at all. It clearly had sat (not even under a warmer) at the kitchen for a bit before it was brought out. Cold scallops are not good. The cocktails were very nice, however. No complaints regarding the cocktails.Service: Our waitress looked so stressed out and overwhelmed (which again, I realize, second night). It was not pleasant. I had to ask for my cocktails, my salad, and she completely forgot about two appetizers. Another waiter attempted to give us an appetizer courtesy of the chef, but we told him we were waiting for the two we had ordered so we said to give it to another table. He started to put it down, then took it to the table next to us. His attitude was like he was inconvenienced. It was rude. The service was not good.Atmosphere: Beautiful. They renovated and decorated this place so well. It is stunning.I am hoping by giving some honest feedback, the quality of the food and service will improve. I definitely would recommend coming to this restaurant, but perhaps in several months when some of these kinks have been worked out. $200 (total of 4 people) for cold scallops, poor service, and a lack of food/forgetting food is just not worth it, particularly since it was a drive just to get to the location.

Place has an amazing night time dining vibe. Great for date night or for small groups. Chop was great and sides including the broccoli were tasty. The gentleman's rib eye next to me with baked potato and side veggie looked imposing in a good way.Now that's not all they've got going on. Just switched the brunch menu for Sunday and they've got the Talisman Cafe for baked goods, coffee and lunch. Oh and they'll have private events in the upstairs area coming as well. There's nothing like it in the surrounding area as far as venue and food but the best is yet to come. This is the must go to for anyone in 2022.Btw I don't work for Broadgauge but I did stay at the Riverbank Lodge last night. Ha!

The initial atmosphere is very cool. The building has some serious old school charm to it on the outside and the inside. It is an old mercantile type of building. Very old beautiful building. Has a beautiful staircase leading up to a nice area for receptions and such. Our table was right next to that staircase, and if you are there when it is cold out, you'll probably have the same experience as us where it will be as cold and drafty as it was the night we were there. We ordered a few specialty cocktails, but I would highly recommend you don't. Ours were incredibly watered down and not worth the 12 dollars that they were charging. I'm very familiar with how to create a cocktail properly, and I was disappointed. If you drink, stick with your normal spirit + mixer and I'm sure you'll be fine. The gentleman that served us was very nice, but OH MY GAWD was he a close talker. Folks, we are still in a pandemic, plus flu season, and I DO NOT LIKE when someone is inches from my face, let alone touching me on my shoulder while talking to me. This is NOT cool for a server to do. Don't get me wrong, he was nice, but definitely crossed the line to uncomfortable. The food.....not impressed. Ordered a few apps. Bao buns weren't as fluffy as I've been accustomed to from many other places I've had them. Were drowning in grease. You should be able to pick up a bun and eat without getting your hands dirty. These you had to use a fork and knife. Pastrami egg rolls made my stomach hurt from how much grease there was. Couldn't eat them. Fried oysters were stacked on each other in a bowl!!!! Who puts fried food on top of each other in a closed environment like that? By the time you get to the second layer, they are nasty soggy snotty gobs of disgusting. Very disappointing. The chicken Caesar salad's lettuce was cut up so fine that it was hard to use a fork to eat. The dressing was not Caesar. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't good. The chicken, however, was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered something that I can't remember, but she wasn't impressed. Our son thought the fries were great and crispy! He loved the fries! The bill ended up being over 200 dollars for 3 people in a town of 2000! Come on. This is beyond ridiculous and over priced. Needless to say, drafty seating, watered down drinks, greasy poorly made food, close-talking-handsy servers, and crazy overpriced all equal the fact that I will not be back.

06.26.22 PETERSBURG ILLBrunch date. stumbled on this fabulous restaurant walking around petersburg illinois while out driving around and exploring. we didn’t have a reservation but they sat us anyway. very fast. no wait. super friendly. the building is wonderful. id like to live in it. the food was fantastic. we split both plates. loved it. however the cinnamon roll would’ve been better heated up and the fruit and granola would’ve been better with a little yogurt. otherwise it was all amazing !! even the restrooms were cool.

After a gorgeous hike at New Salem, we decided to stop in at Talisman at Broadgage for lunch. I had devoured half my salad before I took a pic, but my goodness was it perfection. Every bite tasted farm-fresh and home-made from the chicken to the croutons and dressing! I never knew a salad could taste so good! The service was friendly and the atmosphere both inside and out was inviting and comfortable. We dined outside and enjoyed the shade and the views of the charming town of Petersburg. There are many fun places to eat, drink and shop nearby as well! Be sure to stop in, you’ll be glad you did!

10/10 experience. Food, location, and service were great. We had Rick as our server. He was wonderful. Very amiable, accommodating, and attentive. He was more like an advisor than a server and made us feel like he actually cared about our experience. We were there on a busy prom night too so I was even more pleased with the overall experience. Only note is that it was quite noisy which might be an issue if you have a sensory concern.

**Edit- My mom passed away unexpectedly. Thanks for having her last birthday dinner be a mess. You guys are terribleWe had an awful experience. I called the restaurant’s number after we left. Got a call from Cindy, who ignored what I was saying and told me no one ever has complaints. She then said one of two mangers would contact me and no one ever did. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE COME HERE. We sat for an hour before we got drinks, with no offers of refills, no attention, order messed up, blonde, thin, older waitress WAS NOT AROUND. i don’t know what was worse, the waitress or CINDY. $200 meal for a terrible experience we still talk about..

The food here is very lackluster imo. No flavor, and weird portions. They refuse to give an actual chicken sandwich (or a fish sandwich). What they do is get like 3 tenders and couple them up to create a make-shift chicken/fish sandwich. The host and servers behave very clueless…..borderline lost. Coffee is THEE only thing I’d recommend at this place. Don’t bother stopping in. It’s a let down. Again, just my opinion.

You need to drop everything and go here now! Food was wonderful but even better was the staff!!We were being checked on and visited with all night and it was wonderful!! I want to move now!! Not good with names but our waiter was Parker, Jarrod showed us around and gave us the history and one other waiter was especially friendly. We will be going back!! Shrimp bucatini for me and ribeye for Dan. Oyster fritters and a beet salad. Yum!

I already like Broadgauge, but tonight was exceptional. We enjoyed their family night wing night, featuring a dozen wings for only $10. Given that that’s the cheapest dinner in town, one could hardly go wrong. We had the Lemon Pepper dry rub wings with a cup of soup beforehand, and we came home with lunch for tomorrow. The focaccia bread and pesto made a delightful appetizer, and the pumpkin carrot cake was just spectacular. Very affordable (and granted they do have meals that are not) and wonderfully tasty. Thursday night barbecue night is already some thing we enjoy, and I think we’re going to have to add family wing night to our regular rotation.

Excellent dinner experience! We drove from Springfield for my parents wedding anniversary, wanting to try something special to celebrate. Broadgauge delivered! The refurbished space kept the integrity of what once was there while making it feel brand new. The food was excellent - filet cooked perfectly (coming from a Kansas steak connoisseur) & halibut was also tender and a nice size. Service was friendly and prompt, without being too “hovering.” After dinner we were invited to take a look around, highly recommend exploring this iconic space. The owner & his team have a wonderful vision and passion for revitalizing Petersburg. Keep up the great work!

Got brunch with my wife. Excellent food. Got the sausage breakfast sandwich and she got asparagus dish. We were able to walk in and eat right away at the bar - Sunday at 11 am. Definitely coming back to try dinner service.

Great food and fantastic service. I just hated it that the night we were there, so many customers were rude to the wait staff. I thought they did a great job, just a lot of horribly negative and persnickety people as customers that particular night.Would definitely recommend, and be nice to waiters and waitresses, people!!
