Good prices, excellent stock, knowledgeable staff. The perfect mix! This is my new favorite place in Peoria, I love coming in and asking questions and browsing the plants and invertebrates. The staff are very generous with their time and expertise. Looking forward to my next trip! The beautifully scaped tanks are inspiring me to set up another, the possibilities in this hobby are endless!

We were from out of town and were going to show up 15 mins past closing time. Dan was more than welcome to keep the gorgeous shop open a little late for us newcomers. Wonderful and I mean probably the best plant/scape ideas sold here. Paired with good selection of younger fish with consistent new stock options. Although he didn’t currently have the fish we were looking for in stock at the time. He was more than happy to point us in the direction of a fellow hobbyist whom potentially had in stock. Something I’ve noticed a with small businesses within the aquatic industry, is that you can tell how much they care from how they treat their betta fish. Sitting right next to a shelf of Aquarium Co-op supplies (🤩) was this amazing shelf of bettas that are not only named, but in appropriately sized set ups with a FILTER, and dividers between each of them!! As a previous betta fish owner, my eyes welled up a little bit to see them shown the respect that they deserve. They may not have a ginormous selection of fish available, but you can tell that every single tank is immaculate, and loved. They have some absolutely beautiful nano tanks, that have immaculate aquascapes. You can tell that this has to be the owners passion. I will definitely be coming back for shrimp, drift wood, plants, and any other possible need for my aquariums here. Come visit!! Tell your friends!! You won’t regret it ❤️

So glad this place opened in Peoria! The owner is very helpful and friendly. His shop is beautifully arranged. Prices are reasonable. I was excited to see striped khuli loaches, as petsmart and petco did not have any of those. My son wanted more octos and he ordered them for us. We loved the aquascape. This hobby truly is an addiction. I'm also into mystery snails. My teenage son breeds betta fish, & other fish and wants to someday open his own shop like this. I had a great experience. The store is kept tidy and the tanks are in excellent care. I recommend you visit with some extra time to sit and admire the half dozen beautifully "aquascaped" tanks. I could have spent a couple hours, I think.I bought some reasonably priced plants and supplies after a helpful conversation with staff. I will certainly be back.The best part: the Betta fish are all bright, alert, and healthy. Each has a few gallons with a sponge filter, waiting peacefully for a home. It's so refreshing to see them well cared for, instead of dieing in plastic cups at the big stores.

The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful! Very friendly! Clean and beautifully set up environment! All the tanks he has set up give great inspiration. He is the reason I am now prepping a shrimp tank! I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to purchase aquarium supplies.

I am new to keeping fish and was frustrated with all of the contradictory information I was getting from the different people I was speaking to a Petco or PetSmart. The Fish Geek was just what I was looking for!! The owner was awesome. He really took the time to explain things to me and give me a good overview. Gave me good recommendations and advice, and most importantly of all was awesome with my 7 year old. She really wanted a Rabbit Snail. He explained that our tank was too "New" for snails but showed her a tank of baby rabbit snails he was raising and promised to save one special just for her. She loved that. Overall, I am done with the big stores and I will be going back to The Fish Geek for all my aquarium needs moving forward. highly recommend.

Honestly the cleanest fish store around. The fish all looked extremely healthy and lively. I had called the store ahead to asked if they had fish in store( the website didn’t state that they carried fish- it is worded more like they only had supplies)and was pleasantly surprised when I was asked about my tank and what types I may be interested in. It was a great to have more than a one worded answer and goes to show the level of service. While we did have a small wait the owner was attentive to everyone and was super helpful, so it was well worth the small wait for the exceptional help. Great experience and will be back to add more fish to our tank and adding more tanks.

Great little local fish shop! Especially recommend for intermediate to more experienced fish keepers. Good selection of cichlids and other varied fish that you don’t find at most pet stores. Had a nice selection of live plants and tissue cultures, along with all of your hardscaping needs. Owner was very friendly and super knowledgeable. Always good to support local businesses👍!

Great new mom-and-pop Local Fish Store. Great selection of supplies. The wall of Bettas beautifully displays top quality live fish. Attentive customer service - - the owner spent a long time talking with me about the store, and about my personal experiences in the hobby. Space with a comfy couch and reading material to sit and relax in a peaceful environment. Zen sandbox where you can arrange items for your home aquascape, to visualize before you buy. Well behaved dogs on leash are welcome. There's lots of room, and I anticipate more variety of livestock as they expand their "wall of fish." Happy to see local hobbyists expand into local retail. I'll spend much time here, I'm sure!

Best fish store in town. I'm new to fishkeeping and Dan has been so helpful. Prices are comparable to the box store and the fish seem much healthier. I'm thankful to have this place in Peoria!
