We purchased a german shepherd from White Star Kennel 2 years ago and our dog has not stop being sick from his stomach and his skin, looses hair constantly and has bald spots due to his skin condition. We were the last ones to chose him from his litter and never saw the mom… only dad. Eventhough family history was a good one not sure what our dog is carrying or what he could have other than hearing his sensitive of his skin and stomach. He has even done prescription food and still skin condition does not improve. We have spend thousands in the vet visits doing all kinds of testing changing his food and tons of antibiotics…plus all sorts of natural stuff to see if his skin improves and nothing. So disappointed but he is part of our family and way to attached to him to just ignore his sickness.

Highly, highly recommend! I found them during an extensive search for a white German Shepherd and sent them a message. They immediately responded and were incredibly helpful. I live on the Gulf Coast in Texas, but after reading their reviews and seeing how well they care for their pups I decided it was well worth the drive to purchase from them. Dave even came quite a way to meet me and help shorten my trip. This puppy has been nothing short of amazing! Super smart, super sweet, very healthy! I am absolutely blown away by how well behaved he is and how easy it was to potty train an 8 week old puppy. I will DEFINITELY be using them again when we're ready for Thor to have a little puppy friend!

I recently purchased a puppy from White Star Kennel in Pecatonica IL. I recommend Dave and Amy's business. The site was clean, both of the puppy's parents were onsite, and they have an obvious love for the animals. Their advice was helpful, and they were great to deal with.7/5/2022: Just a brief update: When I purchased my Lily from White Star, I joked with the owners about her being "the perfect puppy". I was just kidding at the time, but it has come to pass that Lily is just about perfect. She has been easy to train, her social skills are off the charts, and she just loves to learn. She receives compliments all of the time because she is so beautiful, well behaved, and calm. Lily will be turning 5 months old next week, and she is definitely a part of my family now that I couldn't think of being without. I would still recommend White Star Kennel German Shepherds with the highest level of confidence. I believe that the socialization and human interaction she received at White Star as a newborn set her on a path to the well-behaved pup that she is today.

Dave and Amy did a great job setting us up for success as new puppy parents. They were quick to respond and did a great job raising healthy pups prior to our pickup date. I honestly LOVE this place. Our puppy is BEAUTIFUL!! The owners Dave and Amy are WONDERFUL!! They REALLY take care of ALL their dogs they have and tend to and take care of the puppies when born. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. They give you all the papers for the breed, they explain everything to you and do not sugar coat anything! These dogs are PUREBRED and they live very comfortably. I just really love this place and WOULD definitely go back for another pup. Thank you Amy and Dave!! We LOVE our new German Shepard. You two are amazing, sweet, and caring people. Thank you! So after trying to rescue a dog just about everywhere. with no success. Driving down 20 see the Sign White Star Kennle German Shepherd and labrador retrievers So we stopped to check it out.. To my surprise one of their females Faith had just had a litter recently.I was brought to view in an exceptional clean nursery room with heated floors and colored lighting for the pups eyes. Faith had had eight pups they were so tiny ando adorable how could one resist. I had always wanted a purebred lab and put a deposit down ASAP. The folks here are great Amy was awesome she even sent me some pics as they were growing. And then came the day to pick her up McKenzie that is I got a female and she’s a handful but I love her thank you White star kennel for myMcKenzie!

Dave and Amy were (are) amazing to work with in finding the the right dog (pup or adult) and are very upfront about each dog's history as best that they can share. My girlfriend and I fell in love with one of White Star's younger dogs, and left with her within an hour. Dog is super smart, loyal (even after two short days) and has an overall tremendous disposition and attitude. Playfull yet contained, if you will. After only two days, I can't imagine being without this gorgeous Shephard. If you are a Shepard person, or even considering becoming one, seriously, you must start here, at White Star; Bill (and Jill).

I could not be happier with my dog Arkin. I got him as a puppy at White Star in 2013. He his happy, healthy and intelligent. The owners were friendly and very nice to work with. I would highly reccomend White Star to anyone looking for a nice German Shepherd puppy.

This is our second Shepard from white star the first female we got 2015 and immediately after going to the vet we learned that she had a heart murmur and couldn’t ever be bred or we would risk loosing her in labor, by this time we were so in love with this girl we decided to have her spayed, and after almost 5 wonderful years with our Gretchen she became very ill almost overnight we took her to the 24 hour immediate care vet spent $1,300 on her care only to be told that at 4 years old she had a genetic issue that kept her liver from growing with her and because of its small size, her liver was releasing toxins into her body and poisoning her, unfortunately nothing medically could be done to improve her health or condition of life so we had no choice but to put down our beloved family member……moving on to currently may 2021 we decided to give white star another chance hoping for a bit longer and better health we went back for a new baby girl and chose one unfortunately since bringing her home all the pup does is behave in a very aggressive manner attacking my 1 year old jumping on her taking her down and then bitting and scratching, also attacking 7 year old nephew, 14 year old son and 17 year old daughter as well as her attacking myself! I’ve been told by our vet to contact the breeder because this kind of aggression will only get worse and the owners are incredibly unfriendly and rude and will not do anything to work with us or help and they’re only advice is to take the dog to a pet smart training class, as if learning to walk her which we already have will help when the dogs aggression is possibly going to land me a lawsuit and loss of animal again at the cost of white star kennels, we are now seeking a lawyer to explore options from this point!!! Do not buy from these people who breed, sell, breed, sell and won’t even show the parents with the pups, also don’t socialize the animals I seriously would think twice or 5 times before buying from them!

We bought our puppy here in August/sept of 2017. I will leave 1 star for the fact they are friendly and clean. However, we soon found out, and it will not show at 8 weeks, our puppy had ‘parrot ‘ mouth. This cost almost $5000 in surgeries and vet care with a specialist. When called the kennel to see if this happened before with any of their puppies,they sounded dumbfounded. Had to call another breeder that they got the mother from to see if she had any background with this for her puppies. All I was told was they would offer another puppy. How do you just toss a puppy away you already have as a family member and what would have been his fate?!. I contacted AKC and they had already had an investigator out. found this out when I saw ‘limited registration’ on his papers. They do not send people out unless there have been complaints! I know this as I know other dog breeders. Yet the kennel says that is normal! No, they don’t have the man power or time to check all kennels/breeders (per AKA) or there would not be puppy mills. Then as time progressed, we are now 1 1/2 yrs old and have no hips. This has been a slow progression. Now we are talking hip replacement for 2 hips and no ortho doctor will do this till he is about 5-6 yrs of age as the replacements are limited to so many years. So now our poor guy has to be on meds, live with discomfort that we can only help to control and will not be with us as long as he should.I am sorry but a good breeder will stand behind puppies they sell. And the odd thing is that the female and male that parented him were never bred again. Moms first litter. I am sure they had more issues out of this litter and that’s why they were investigated by AKC. And why limited registration?! There is a reason.This is the 4th German we have owned so I know there can be hip and knee issues. However, we have never had that problem with any of ours.And just an FYI, per my vet, NO DNA testing or anything can promise that something is not right down the bloodline from prior years. It takes an honest breeder and one with a concscience. Should not be about the money they get. Just because you pay so much means nothing.
