Was planning on camping at Starved Rock but was turned away and told to check this place out. As people have said, the owner is incredibly nice. I wound up at a spot without a fire pit so he introduced me to a group at a nearby site with one. The following morning he stopped by with coffee and a pastry for me. The campground itself isn't special but I highly recommend it just because the owner is great. Thanks again for everything! (I stayed there in Aug 2012 but wanted to leave a review since he was so nice and I wasn't reviewing things back then)

This is a small privately owned campground and is nothing fancy but as other reviewers said the owner is the sweetest guy and will bend over backwards to be of assistance! We had a last minute family emergency and no other campgrounds for miles were avail so the owner here was so nice to take us in and welcome us like family! The location is close to Utica and Peru but quite and peaceful good nts sleep. The best part is the campground is full hookup and only $150 wk!

I just stayed at Cozy Corners Campground this past weekend. It was such a great experience! It's in a great location, and the couple that owns this campground are so sweet and helpful. We showed up pretty late, when it was dark out... we were greeted right away, asked if we needed help with setting up our tent. I was taken on a short tour of the grounds in Dave's golf cart. And while we were setting up our tent, Dave got wood and set up our fire for us. The couple are so nice to talk to, they checked on us maybe once a day just to make sure we were all set. They offered us grilling equipment, fresh tomatoes and even a beer! They were just so accommodating and I can't wait to go back :)

We didn't make plans to include this Campground in our trip from Ohio to Wisconsin however, we're very glad that we stopped. The owner make sure not only to find us a place but nature to let us know exactly how to back in to have the best leveling available. The lot that we stayed on was extremely flat. He was very accommodating to ensure that we had everything that we needed. We also was offered extension cords and extended fresh water hose if needed. But we had that already. Very quiet Campground nestled among a lot of corn and beans. State parks are abundant in the area and are always fully booked so this was a nice surprise. The local town seems to be more tourists driven and have a considerable amount of things to see especially when you add in the state parks I mentioned above. This is a cash and check only Campground and I suggest that if you have a chance to stop to give them a ring and see if they can accommodate you. It's well worth it!

This is a family-run business. They allowed us to check in late and were super accommodating. They directed us to a hardware store when we needed extra pins for our camper. They also helped us set up and get ready for the evening. Full hookups and quiet setting. Also pet friendly. If we are this way again we will stop and stay at cozy corners.

The owners are very nice and welcoming people. We're have stopped here once a year for each of the past few years, if not more often. It's a great location that is centrally located to both Starved Rock and Matteson state parks. It's not the most secluded or tucked into the woods location, but the grounds are perfect for tent and RV setups. There is no mud to worry about, and there is just enough shade to be comfortable on hot days. Firewood available on site too which is great.

Quaint little gem off the beaten path.Nothing fancy just a nice tranquil campground for the night. The owner is wonderful. He takes you to your site with his golf cArt and will assist you backing into your spot. VERY reasonably priced..

Had the good fortune of finding this place on our way home from Southern Illinois to Wisconsin. Was hesitant when i first saw the place but I was totally wrong. The owners were fantastic and was exactly what we were looking for. We just needed a place to spend one night and this was perfect. It is just what you should be expecting for a 1 night stay with full hookups. Do not hesitate to stay here on the way through.

We stayed last night at Cozy Corners Campground. Perfect location directly across from Matthiessen State Park. The Campground has full hook-up sites for campers as well as tent spots. You are not sandwiched on top of other campers - plenty of room for your camper and for the tents. There was a single shower which was clean and a port-a-potty for those staying in tents. We were glad we had our own bathroom "facilities" in our camper - but if we would have needed to use theirs, it would have been fine.Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, Dave. Dave is 83 years old and has lived on this property for his entire life. He was extremely kind and welcoming. We have a motorhome and he even offered us to borrow his truck if we wanted to go into town and not unhook the motorhome from the full hook site. Shortly after we settled in, Dave brought us a load of firewood and kindling mulch to help start a fire. He hung out for a while and we had one of the neatest conversations we've ever had. Dave is truly a genuine person, looking out for the goodwill of all of his guests. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the area.Dogs are welcome and obviously need to be on a leash. It was also very quiet there in the evening. Not that my husband and are I super old, but we are also not into the late night party scene. We were able to sit by the fire with the only sounds being the surrounding tree frogs. If you are looking for a safe, clean and friendly place to stay, I would highly recommend Cozy Corners Campground!

We just returned from a wonderful family weekend at Cozy Corner...and that is exactly what it is! Perfectly located near the State parks, downtown Utica & Ottawa. We had 2 tents and a camper. The owners Dave & Barb are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. We had 30 degree temps at night but we had plenty of warm gear. Our family's were able to set up our tents & campers next to each. They have porta potties and outdoor shower we did not use... Too cold. We had electricity and water. All in all it was a lovely time. I would recommend this place. We really did not want to leave! See you in May Dave & Barb!

It was difficult finding a spot near the Utica/Tonica area. We were lucky to have found Dave and the Cozy Corners Campground. Dave is a sweet, sweet, old man. Very accommodating and very reasonable rates. Thanks, Dave! We hope to see you this Spring/Summer.

I've stayed here a few times. The owner is a fantastic guy - A few people have described him as less than that, and that's prompting my review. He's friendly and very knowledgable, he's given me several tips about local places to see that have paid off huge, now my favorite spots in the area. He's built this little place by himself, it's not a 5 star RV park - and doesn't claim to be. However - it is a great spot to rely on for a quick trip down to the Starved Rock area... and Dave will help you with anything you need.

Starved Rock Campground was full and we ended up stumbling upon this campground! I'm so glad we did. The owner was fantastic, very accommodating, and even built us a fire when we were gone so it was ready to light when we got back. We camped in a tent, so my only complaint would be the traffic we could hear at night. Other than that everything was fantastic.-Tent camping-RV camping-CLEAN Porta Potty-Campfire-Grilling grates-Water-Some electric hookups

The owners were really nice and accommodating. It was a nice surprise to find after learning the state park campgrounds were already full when we arrived. It reminded me of fond memories camping on my grandparents farm as a kid.The location is perfect right next to the state park. I will definitely stay there if I'm ever in the area again.

i didn't give this review because the owners are my grandparents, but because of how nice they are to the people ive seen camping.i know that Dave has put a lot of work into it because before it was a campground it used to be a scrap/garbage yard. and with its proximity to starved rock and matthiessen state park its excellent for just going for nature walks and then coming back and sleeping. only issue for me is the trailer you can rent doesn't have a bathroom door for the bathroom in the masters bedroom. Either way great place to camp for the weekend while you explore the state parks.

Lovely hosts! Dave was so helpful and friendly! The campground was right across from Mathession park, which had some gorgeous hiking trails. Had a wonderful time! Dave also gave us some great tips and tricks with our trailer!

Owner is super nice! Has about 9 sites (not sure if all are full hookups) but you must call ahead... Great place to just stop overnight! About 8 miles from Walmart/shopping. Less than 3 miles to the liquor store.

Like the first review states, it is in a couples' yard, but they are so nice and it is well kept up and very clean. Minutes from all the parks, lake, rivers and restaurants. The bathrooms were the cleanest we have ever seen, important because we have two little ones, and they also provide unlimited fire wood for a small cost! Great place and we plan to go back!

I recently stayed at Cozy Corners Campground and felt it was in need of a review as it doesn't seem to have one at all on the internet.Cosy Corners is a small, family owned campground, quite literally in the couples backyard!Barbara and Dave, the owners were fantastic and absolutely went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience with them. For example, I needed ice from the store and was given a ride in their golf cart.At one point it rained pretty heavily and as soon as it stopped, they came out to offer us all towels.the couple have a vast knowledge of the area and spent a good while talking with us about the things we could do 'off the beaten path'.Did I mention that this campground is at the entrance to Matthiessen State Park and only a mile south of Starved Rock!! Perfect placement. Also, you don't have to worry about the alcohol bans in the state parks if you stay here. The campsite was dog friendly provided the pups stay on leash. The only thing I could say that may put you off would be that there is no shower facility! This didn't bother us, we are experienced campers and had no issue showering under a hose. there are a couple of hoses around so you can access running water.Oh, anther thing! The cleanest camping porta johns I have ever used. They smelled clean and were also lit at night!OK, I could go on all day. I had a fantastic experience and every one of the 10 people in my group on the Saturday night swore they would return. The service provided by Barbara and Dave is second to none! I can't wait to go back!

This place is great, the owners are so nice and friendly and go out of their way to help. Super camping area nice and very quiet. I will always come back when in the area. The owner even offered his truck for me to use to go get breakfast and parts for my rig. What great people

We stayed at the Cozy Corners campground is located in Oglesby, IL, literally across the road from the Mattheissen State Park Dells Area, during the first weekend of July, 2013.The campground, as other reviews have stated, is more or less located in what I would consider the owner's yard; as there is nowhere on the campground where you can't see or be seen from the house. The campground is lightly wooded, clean and well maintained. They have a single shower shed, but only had portable toilets available, which were, to put it tactfully, a bit overdue for servicing. The owners were incredibly nice, friendly, and accommodating. You can tell they take pride and enjoyment in what they do which reflects in the quality of their campground and the service they provide. Dave was constantly driving around in his golf cart checking if people needed anything, offering information about the area, and just chatting it up. If you are the type who likes to be left alone then this might be annoying, but it didn't bother us. Ten bucks gets you all the firewood you would possibly need and in the morning Dave came by and said if we were out and needed a bit more to "Get your motors goin'!" just help ourselves. There are two reasons my review is not higher. First is the campsite's proximity to the road. The site is right along Route 178, a 55 MPH limit highway, and that entails all the late night noise and headlights from traffic you might expect, along with the occasional passing moron honking their horn and screaming, "Camping! Woo!" as they drive past. This isn't the owners' fault really, but it is something to consider. Do not go there expecting any kind of “nature experience.” But the campground's proximity to local parks and attractions is a huge plus, so you take the good with the bad I guess.Second was the wake-up lawn-mowing. I don't know if it was the owner of the campground or someone else, but someone decided the best time to mow the grass along the stretch of road next to the campground full of sleeping campers was 6:00 am. Honestly, this is pretty much the sole reason why my review isn’t higher. It didn't bother our group so much as we were already up and working on breakfast, but I can certainly see myself in such a state of mind where I would be requesting a refund based on this alone. I am hoping this was just bad luck/timing for us and not a regular practice.Overall, though, as long as late-night passing traffic doesn’t bother you I would recommend this campground. It is cheap ($20.00 compared to Starved Rock Campground: $25.00 and LaSalle-Peru KOA: $27.00), comfortable, and the owners are lovely, wonderful people.

You pay per tent while camping here, which my friends and I thought was an illogical way to pay, considering tents can have from 2 to 10 people in them. I reserved space for 3 tents, and when I arrived with the 12 people that were to stay in them, I thought a fairly reasonable amount for 3 tents, the owners wife said they don't allow large groups and kicked us out. Luckily, we were welcomed at Papa Murph's, a campground behind a bar just down the road that is 8$ a night per person, with much more space and much further back from the road.

Small but cute campground. The owner was so nice and helped us get out camp set up with just a few minutes of sunlight left. It's close to a road but the noise is not too bad.

Pulled in at 7 am to tent camp. Fell asleep in the car waiting for someone to talk to. Finally someone came and gave us a site to set up camp. When we checked out they charged us for the night we showed at 7 am. Very rude about it. When we protested called us cheap Jews.
