My wife and my go to bakery spot in Chicagoland. Everything we’ve gotten here is fantastic, and it is a regular spot we will frequent until we die! Order anything and you will not be disappointed. A short list of everything we love there: cookies, lemon pound cake, olive oil cake, Georgie cake, and their cold brew. The ambiance is also awesome for a date or to just chill with friends. Can’t go wrong here!

This was a hidden gem to me. It is a great sunlit spot for everyone in the village. This felt welcoming and warm. Let me tell you about the coffee, spectacular. I felt like I was back in Paris! The only draw back is too many choices and all delicious. Plus the staff knows they are the best…thanks Kelsey (who is my new bestie 😉) for the info about everything being good, you were right!!

Their gluten free chocolate chip cookies are worth the mileage. I always seemed to miss the window before they sold out (understandable they're AMAZING). Decided to order ahead-thanks to Matthew for putting together some gluten free take-and-bake cookies last minute! Love, the atmosphere, love the goods, love that it's woman owned!

SO FRICKING GOOD, they SAVED THE SCONE. No one eats scones, who would? Try them here though, insane. Not going to write a full in depth review, as it’s overkill, just go!Hands down the best spot in Oak ParkThe staff hustle, owners are awesome and hustling next to staff, and quality is incredibleRoman pizza / focaccia is awesomeBest cookies you’ll eatThis place may literally have “saved the scone” from extinction, I have never had a great scone, ever.. and tried one on a whim because of how prominently featured they were here, insane.

My first and never again visit to this bakery was one of the worst experiences. I happened upon this business while on my way to another store down the street. When I saw the bakery and the line of customers I thought it would be a great place to eat. When I reached the order counter I inquired if they sold gluten free foods and was told yes. I picked out 4 items paid for them and left. Once in the car I felt to break open one of the items I purchased to eat it. Usually I would just bite into whatever I was going to eat. As I was about to stuff my mouth my son said what’s that? I looked and said what. My son said that looks like hair and mainly dog’s hair. We turned the car around and I went back to the bakery where there was no line now. I went back to the counter to the same young lady who serviced me to ask if a dog was kept in the cooking/food preparation area and I was told no. I asked if the bakers wore hair nets and again told no. I said well I just left here making the purchase and the young lady said I remember you because I wanted gluten free items. I said to her there’s a hair in my food and proceeded to open my bag to show her but she said I didn’t need to do that and what would I like to replace it. I said just refund me and I returned all items. I thanked her and left. Oak Park doesn’t have many gluten free food places to eat at and when I find such a place I’m excited to be a loyal customer. I’d just like for this bakery to monitor their food preparation process and practices much more carefully. There needs to be a way for the Health Department to monitor food places such as this for the safety of customers gluten free or other but especially for seniors as myself,72 yrs. Of age so we don’t incur any significant health risks. I’m going to try to upload the pictures I took with the hair in my purchase. Thank you.

Amazing food, I personally love the kale scone and the birthday cake cookie. The hours are a bit rough but the food more than makes up for it.Kid-friendliness: Lots of kid friendly options and the staff are patient

For all my GBBO fans out there, Paul Hollywood would give this place a hand shake for their baked goods. Their unique Focaccia was out of this world and the Rosemary Apricot Scone I could eat about 10 of them. Excited to go back and try the other goodies they have.

Unbelievably good. Figured it’d just be an average local bakery, but nothing about broken tart is average. All the cookies are perfect, but the Chocolate chip cookies hit on every level; crisp, chewy, and the ever important pinch of salt puts them over the top. Best textured biscuits I’ve ever had (just enough of a crunchy bite that quickly turns into a moist, fluffy interior). Scones are amazing. Flavors on everything are all so balanced. I’d love to see some sort of banana something tossed into the mix. Staff is as helpful and kind as you could as for. Couldn’t recommend this establishment more (which is silly, because I live next door and I don’t want them to run out of my favorites 🤣)

Wow! Found this bakery by accident, after doing some Frank Lloyd Wright touring. Absolutely blown away. Got both sweet and savoury biscuits and scones, which are obviously their specialty. Tried 4 different things. Some of the filled biscuits are meal-sized so you actually fill up more than you expect. Everything is rich and impeccably made. It is worth going out of the way for; this gem turned out to be one of my fave places of all on my foodie trip to Chicago!

Broken Tart has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The friendly, engaging proprietors and delightful staff are a perfect compliment to their tempting baked goods. The olive oil cake is to die for. And there are so many other unique treats. Everything is baked fresh every day.My favorite memory was a day when it was pouring rain and yet people were lined up outside waiting to get in, laughing and joking about their loyalty to Broken Tart. And I haven't even mentioned their coffee. Twice a week they bring me my oatmilk latte, made just the way I like it. And I sit there playing Wordle and enjoying the lively atmosphere. And the world seems right.

the scones, that's how the addiction started. my awesome business partner brought me one the other day, my first. i've had worse good drugs. today he also brought a biscuit and muffins. i hugged him. none of the ingredients he's mentioned correlate with the mouthgasms. i suspect crack and don't care. i'm currently 60lbs over where i need to be and won't allow myself to enter these hallowed halls until losing them. but after doing so i will do so in person. often.(2023-09 update: he brought in bt's newest somehow street-legal moist pumpkin concentrate. omfg, the noms. louboutins? nah... head over muffins? negotiable)

Great sweets and sandwiches- the one drawback is that on Sandwich Fridays - they are sold out by 11:55am (lunch is at noon and all the sandwiches are already gone ) this is not a good thing. Do they have online purchasing for the sandwiches ? Because this should be implemented so people can purchase and have their sandwiches put to the side for when they have their lunch hour at Noon. If you are selling out lunch sandwiches before Noon, you should probably have sandwiches on more than just Fridays!!

So delicious!!! Just so incredibly good I'm thankful I don't live in the neighborhood or I'd be there every weekend. Olive oil cake, cookies, kale salad scones....everything I've tried has been excellent.

Absolutely amazing! We got some lattes as well as a chocolate chip cookie and blueberry muffin that were fantastic. Would definitely be my go-to coffee stop as well if they had skim or 2% milk

A small, charming bakery and coffee shop near the corner of Chicago and Harlem. It has only been open a few weeks, but the couple times I've stopped by, I've been very impressed with the quality of the baked goods: the olive oil cake is delicious, the chocolate chip cookie has huge chunks of chocolate and is served warm, and the kale scone was cheesy and so satisfying. In terms of drinks: the cold brew is flavorful, and the matcha latte is carefully made and so good. We met one of the owners; she and the other staff were all friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend Broken Tart!

Submitted a cake order through website, no follow up. Called store to ask, the day before. Clerks said cake orders need to be submitted a week before. Told her that I did last week and no one followed up. She put me on hold and when she picked up, she said “it wouldn’t have worked anyway, thank you” and hung up.AWFUL customer service. Will not be returning.
