I adopted a puppy after I lost my 14-year-old pitbull last summer. I have had dogs my whole life. I have never in my life seen a dog that needed so much work. I wonder how a little innocent puppy could’ve been that traumatized the short of a time by someone abused that puppy horrible. The part that really pisses me off is I was lied to that. The puppy was brought there as a baby and a wagon with its other siblings. There is no way that puppies spent its life at the Humane Society and has as many issues as it does. As I was leaving after I paid $300 for her at the Humane Society I was told no refunds and I couldn’t bring her back. I thought they were joking, but when I realized that I had a dog with real issues, they were not joking at all my dog her name is puppy is not a shirt that I can just return. She has a good home now and I am trying everything humanly possible for her to trust and not be a nervous wreck anymore. Do I recommend this place? No absolutely not. I considered calling the attorney general on them because there’s more than meets the eye at that establishment, which I do believe is State governed and they get grants from the state to operate the facility. It’s one thing to adopt out a damaged broken little puppy, but it’s another story when the staff lies too people by by Lie and save a puppy came from a lady with a wagon full of puppies it is absolutely impossible. MY puppy almost 1 now was horribly mistreated. They are lucky l don’t have them shutdown

My daughter just got a kitten a few weeks ago, and the staff was amazing. I fully appreciate the time they let us spend looking at kittens that would be the best fit and the recommendations that the staff that work with them the most gave for the personality she wanted!

Very friendly and make every effort to match the pet w the right person/family. We are so happy that we were "adopted" by an angel kitty. We had been catless for four years...after having one or two since 1980!!

Bad customer service. I tried reaching out through email in regards to important information. Staff was very rude and snappy. In fact, what was weird is that tall guy who worked there thought I had the hots for him. I thought! Yikes!

I always enjoy coming to this shelter and keeping the cats company, and would love to rate this place 5 stars because I have never had a negative experience with the staff, until today. As the cats started fighting while my friend and I were viewing them, which is totally normal! What was not normal was the way we were spoken to by a staff member ordering us to “GET OUT” and “LEAVE” in the absolute rudest way possible the situation could’ve been handled MUCH better. extremely disappointed.

Do not adopt from this location immediately had issues with the animal resulting in us paying additional money to go to a vet within 48 hours because the animal had a condition that was untold.I am more than happy to take my business somewhere else, because this was awful and then of course. No compensation.Make sure you read the contract because it states they cannot guarantee the health of the animal and if you argue with them you’ll get some manager lady arguing the animal left in great condition despite the fact the contract cannot guarantee that they may do a routine check but they do not x-ray the animal to see anything internalSave your money go to Petsmart and just get something on Saturday during adoption day or find something for free on craigslist or Facebook central Illinois central Illinois dogs

I went in to adopt a puppy, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's obvious the animals there are cared for. I wasn't able to adopt a puppy only because there wasn't a puppy that was available for my situation 🐶

Adopted Delphi from the humane society a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. They not only treated her well but all of the other pets I interacted with were treated with the utmost respect and care by the staff. Bloomington was my hometown but I live down in Carbondale Illinois and I felt much better adopting from this place and I'm so glad I did. I couldn't have asked for a better companion!

The staff here are wonderful. We've gotten all of our cats there and they've always been so caring and helpful with each. Daisy and mango (now magpie and pixie) say hello from their snuggle window.

My husband and I got our kitties here, and because they were housed in the same enclosure we knew they would at least get along ok. They also recommended a good veterinarian clinic. We love our cats so much and are very glad they had a safe place to stay before getting their forever homes.

This facility is amazing! The people are wonderful & the building is very clean, inside and out. Their adoption process is fast with the online adoption application. We got our beautiful gsd, Holly there & could not be happier.

Very wonderful place with lots of lovable creatures! My only complaint is that the dog room is often unkempt, and there is feces/urine in multiple kennels. Let's show love to our four legged friends and adopt your new bestie at the humane society!Edit: it seems a lot of people are aware that the dogs seem to be less cared for compared to the cats :(

Irresponsible.The shelter was not honest about a dog's history and needs. This dog was clearly not suited for a first-time owner in an apartment and HSCI had to have known yet they assured me it could work. The end result was his life being disrupted and me left mentally and physically devastated. I am severely bruised all over but it could have been much worse. I truly hope the shelter learns to do better on behalf of their animals and potential adopters.

Adopted a cat from here. The staff were very kind the multiple times we went and over the phone. There are plenty of staff members there helping and they seem to love what they do and take great care of the cats (not sure about the dogs). I love how they let you see the animals before applying as well, and scheduling a meet with the few cats we were interested in was super easy. They also sent us home with all the information we need and about a week's worth of food. Noah helped us the last day and was very kind and knowledgable with the pets, even helped recommend a vet for us. If we adopt again in the future, it will surely be with them!

DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE !I adopted a dog from this facility and right after we took her home she started showing kennel cough like symptoms. They gladly took her her to the vet after I called and told them this . They had came back and told me that she just had allergy’s . Well after socializing the new dog with my family and their dogs , one of the dogs came back with the same symptoms as mine . So we called the vet that she was taken to and they told us that she indeed had kennel cough after being told she didn’t by the humane society. I was completely lied to.After presenting this info to the humane society they told me I was not going to get a refund and my cousin was not going to get any reimbursement for her dogs treatment. “It’s not our issue “ is what I was told . So I’m the end don’t come here .

we went to Hanna City Humane Society on Saturday. I adopted a kitty. They had so many to choose from and it wasn't until the last room that I found my kitty. Her name is Babe. ßhes had the name for 8years why should I change it now??? She has been hiding from me since we got home. mostly under the furniture but she ate some canned food last night and went and used the litter box at 2 am. so I know she is okay. she's just scared.Hopefully she'll come out as she feels sàfer.I love her and can't wait till I can hold her and pet her.

I picked up a dog from here. He was covered in urine and devoid of any muscle. His nails were cut WAY down past the vein. The place smelled horrible. The place is obviously not even kept clean let alone the animals being taken care of.

Extremely poor costumer service. They say it is their policy to hold a pet until their set up adoption appointment, yet when I showed up for my appointment, the cat I had picked out in advance had been given to someone else. I had called MANY times in advance and filled out all of the online paperwork (and was approved). They said they must have gotten confused, as there was a cat named Bean and a cat named Dean. I don’t understand how this could’ve happened, especially since I filled out online paperwork with the WRITTEN name DEAN and had a confirmed appointment to adopt him. It appears the communication between staff members is extremely poor, as they are not following their own policies and getting pets confused. I’m extremely disappointed at their mistake, and have shed many tears over the unexpected change to what was going to be my forever cat.I highly recommend others go to the vastly superior Champaign County Humane Society, where the staff is all organized and friendly, the shelter is actually clean, and the dogs aren’t sitting in kennels full of their own fecal matter. The adoption fees are also cheaper in Champaign, and yet the shelter there is much more well run. I will not be returning to The Humane Society of Central Illinois any time soon based on this terrible experience.
