Terrible experience, terrible communications. My furnace is only functioning intermittently for a week now with temps dropping into the 50s. Update has been out, twice, no resolution. The last time the tech was there was Tuesday and they said I'd receive a call on Wednesday morning, with a plan to address the issue. It's 2 days later, no phone call, no email. I had to contact another company because it's getting cold in the house and I don't think Update is ever going to call."UPDATE"The owner, Jason, just called me and yelled at me because of my "impatience." My house has been without consistent heat for 6 days now, with temps in the 50's and the fact that they haven't fixed it, nor called as promised is "my problem." He literally accused me of being impatient, even though they didn't return calls as committed. He has taken zero accountability.Furthermore, he said, "We have 18,000 customers, I don't care about 1 customer."Clearly, that final statement is true. Update does not care about 1 customer who hasn't had consistent heat for a week. Hopefully YOU aren't that one customer.If you check out the reviews on Yelp, you'll see that this treatment by the owner is consistent with what a lot of people have experienced. Rude, tons of attitude, blaming everyone else.BTW, at the beginning of the call he said, "Your furnace is out of warranty" so the OEM wouldn't do anything. Then he changed the story to "I was going to get you a free new furnace because I know people at Carrier." Well, which is it?

I had 2 furnaces go out at the same time. The tech offered an affordable solution and was able to use warranty for the gas exchange on one unit and found the minor issue on the other unit.I’m so grateful. As a single mom with a daughter attending university out of state, I didn’t know what I was going to do in this situation. But Thank you Lord for a company with integrity who cares about their clients.

I requested to replace my hot water heater and to reconfigure the gas line, electrical box and furnace vents. Chris came out, provided me with an estimate and was able to do the work the following day. Chris was on time and did an excellent job. He replaced the water heater, replaced the water lines, and reconfigured the entire furnace area to give me more room. He was polite, neat, worked hard and cleaned the entire area before he left. I was out of town when our air conditioner stopped working. My wife was home alone. Turns out the unit simply needed a new capacitor. We were charged $130 for diagnostics and the service call and then $279 for the capacitor. An OEM capacitor cost less than $25. Speaking to the company’s office, I was told that the labor charge and service call charge were included in the cost of the capacitor. That is a lousy way to do business. At minimum the $130 diagnostic/service call fee should be waived since they did the repair and charged for labor in the cost of the capacitor. Supposedly. The tech was only there for a half hour. So that’s $250 per hour for labor?? This is a total rip off.Service: HVAC system repair

Jason and the team at Update are TREMENDOUS!!First, they were able to quickly & economically replace my air conditioning unit when we were left getting the run around from other contractors. Update delivered as promised….right on time.My second experience with Jason and Update came when a close friend of mine casually mentioned that his furnace had gone out in the middle of the night and he had to call a company he found online. I told him about my experience with Jason & Update and put them in contact. As I actually anticipated…..Update was able to absolutely destroy the price of the other contractor….and get in the very next day to make the install. My friends are also thrilled with their work!!Lastly….my sister who lives in Houston mentioned to me that her HVAC unit was on the fritz and she needed to replace her air conditioning unit. I made a call to Jason at update just to inquire about the cost differences between the Chicago market and Texas….because at this point I trust his knowledge and opinion to the fullest. I couldn’t believe that Jason got back to me with a referral to a trusted contractor he personally knows in the Houston area that we could confidently contact to provide service for my sister.A lot of contractors claim to be willing to go above and beyond for their clients….but I can say with certainty that you will not regret calling Update. We were having issues with our A/C not cooling the house. Once we called, they came out within the next day. They confirmed our compressor was out and that we were still under warranty. They said they would reach out the next day to set up time to replace. They contacted us the next morning, stated they had one in stock and immediately set up an appointment for that afternoon to replace. They came out as they stayed and didn’t even charge us for labor to boot! We can’t say enough good things about their promptness and generosity in the labor. Very knowledgeable, explained things fully and answered any questions we had.
