I just wanted to leave a 5 star public review just as a thank you for the wonderful service that you all provide! I spoke to the store manager on the phone the other day and he seems like a great dude. I’ve also had the chance to speak on the phone with one of the owners (chris) multiple times now and he’s awesome as well! The prices are MUCH BETTER than any other online vendor I order from hands down! The torch corals are always in great shape when they arrive and most likely have multiple heads! Realistically price wise your only paying for 1head ! The blastomussa corals are absolutely insane in person pictures can’t do them any justice the color is so vibrant and intense! Mushrooms are always super healthy , and they are actually grown out a bit so the sizes are awesome! ( unlike most online vendors that sell you a shoom so small that I jumps off of the plug in a day or 2 )I can go on and on, but over all I just wanted to tell every one that’s shopping around for some frags or equipment for their systems give this company a shot check out the lps corals! Great mom and pop fish store. Staff is helpful and they keep a nice looking shop.While they do sell freshwater fish and plants, Reef tanks and fish seem to be their main focus.That being said, they’re still my go to fish store!

ordered this skimmer off amazon from these guys and this is how i receive it. no shipping packaging or anything. im scared to even open the box to see what’s missing or broken. absolutely ridiculous. claim will be opened. never ordering a thing from these people. this is how they shipped equipment id hate to see how they ship live animals.

Best fish store I have ever been to! I loved it here I spent 80 dollars lol, the staff was very knowledgeable, patient and kind they had so many fish and plants and would recommend!! Edit: only store I truly trust with fish and shrimp and plants and they treat their fish very good and this is my favorite fish store by far! They are still setting up at their new place and once it’s done I am sure it will be even better than the last!

Very helpful when troubleshooting a new tank. Very knowledgeable about set up and what is needed for your tank. They definitely look out for your better interest and want you to have good results. I can tell they are not just pushing you to buy what you don’t need and genuinely want you to be happy with your tank.

The staff here definitely know their stuff which is super helpful. It's a smaller shop, tight in the aisles, which in normal circumstances wouldn't matter, but with covid makes it feel a little close for comfort. A nice selection of both fresh and salt water fish, other marine life, live plants, coral, and general tank needs. Was recommended by someone that worked for a pet store, and did not disappoint. Glad I stopped in.

Been to this store twice. Great experience both times. Bought every supply I needed for a fresh and saltwater aquarium start up. Great selection of fish and every tank is spotless. We’ll be back for a third time to get clownfish. Also I drive two hours just come here. That should tell you something.

Hi my name is Jeremiah Jablonski just recently turned 16 and I would recommend gingerbread on any normal occasion however this past week has made me dread my hate the store entirely . Recently about a week or 2 ago I was stopping by becuase I need some food for the fish and I had been going to this place for around like 10-20 times now and have gotten use to most of the staff in the store . They somewhat knew the tank I had which was a 32 fluval gallon and I was upgrading to sweet 150 gallon when Christmas arrived. I go inside and one of my parents see’s is a yellow box fish at this point in time I knew nothing about it beside it’s similar to puffers expect doesn’t eat coral . The young staff member with blond hair there tells my mother what it’s diet is that it’s a long time grower and to at it doesn’t eat coral . That’s all he tell her and forgets to inform us that this little fish get a 1 foot long , is a expert level fish and shouldn’t be put in the hand of a beginner who started about 4-7 months ago probably more . Then the two most important parts one this little guy who is 2 inchs at the time needs 150 gallons when fully grown and around 60-70 gallons at the moment he is right now and second when this fish gets say stressed it releases a toxin that can kill coral and fish how wonderful . I did not find this out until 1 week later and then come to find that he did use his toxin and he got so stressed in the tank he got Ick or ich and it ends up killing 6 fish in a week .1 Picasso grade A clown :$802 wrasse :75The box fish it self :30Ruby red dragonet :80And my beloved Helfrichi firefish :135So 300 dollars worth of fish dead on my birthday yay and some of my hammers and zoas .So some people could say that when going to a fish store you should be prepared to get the fish you know and researched and the liability of that fish is on you . Many people in hobby I have heard said if something dies in a tank it’s the ones we fault entirely . I can take some of the blame but I’m afraid that gingerbread should take most of the blame here . Selling a product/animal without giving any realistic information on it , causing damage to the a reef tank becuase they left out very vital information . Now I’m not saying that gingerbread is entirely a bad store and so is the Staff . I have had no problems with the rest of the staff . I would just like to be pointed at that they have one lazy staff member that becuase of him forgetting to punt out this information caused the damage to they tank but also wish I could try to be Reimbursed money for the damages .

We drove out to Gingerbread based on the reviews and were happy we did. Adam was great helping us select a modest set up for our first freshwater pets. He had the knowledge and was very patient answering questions with my curious 10-year-old boy. They have an impressive selection of exotics and beautiful, affordable fish.

By far the best! I’ve never seen such a wide selection of fish, let alone so many shrimp! Lots of aqua scaping supplies also. All the fish have beautiful tanks and are properly cared for. The staff are also very knowledgeable and helpful

Large selection of coral to choose from. If you’re looking designer or higher end pieces, they are stored away in the “not for sale” back room farming tanks. I was excited to check out this spot but walked away empty handed due to the boring stock of coral inventory, in their showroom tanks.Store was packed with shoppers and staff seemed honest, friendly and were masked up. I’d definitely shop here over the Blueline boys which are a 10 minutes down the road.

I've gone to pretty much all aquarium shops in the Northwest Suburbs area. This one is by far my favorite. The twins are super welcoming and they're fish look extremely healthy. Keep up the great work guys ! Definitely will be returning.

PASSION is how I would describe my experience. It is a new store only opened in December so there are still some works in progress but by far the cleanest tanks and best care for livestock I have seen at any fish store. They do have freshwater fish that you don't find at the big chain but are mostly saltwater at the moment with a large frag selection. The prices on their supplies, decor etc was for the most part the best I have seen as well. The owner is full hands on and open to feedback on all aspects from his customers (something you don't usually find)Most importantly you can tell that he has a major passion for the hobby and focuses on quality of care before margins and profits. WOW THEIR TANKS ARE CLEAN!!

What a find! This is a magical universe cleverly tucked away in a strip mall. Gorgeous fish, cleanest water I've ever seen, and mysterious creatures in every corner. I bought my humble bettas there, but if there ever comes a day I want a grown up fish, I'm coming here!

Made an Amazon Purchase Through Gingerbreads Market. Purchased a filter (Sicce Nano) and this item was supposed to come with 2 different filters. It had the sponge filter but did not have the Biological Filtration: Bio Trix ceramic triangle. I emailed them and let them know and “Nick” asked for my order number in which I replied back with a copy of the purchase receipt which had the order number on it. The gentleman told me he would check into it and get back with me. I have not heard back from anyone since and I have even sent a follow up email. I then called the store several days later to follow after I still hadn’t received and kind of follow up from any employee with this company. The gentleman on the phone was very abrupt with me and just told me to send it back because they have nothing to do with orders. Even though it says Gingerbread as the seller? All I wanted was what I paid for and all I received from this seller was disappointment. I really would like to have my order complete, but I suppose since I purchased online From them I’m irrelevant.

Coming out of high school, he’s a very smart business owner, and loves keeping fish. Gingerbread has the cheapest live fish prices in the naperville/plainfield area. Although small, definitely the top option in the area for salt water hobbyists. Absolutely no problem with mortality, 7/7 with the fish i bought. I will definitely be returning.
