My son and I stopped by the Dollar General store to check it out mainly because it was nostalgic since it was put inside of an old family video store. My sons grew up with the family video store so it's kind of sad that they're all gone now. Upon arriving to the store we noticed that they had redone the floors and everything looked remodeled, it smelled clean, it looked very nice and everything was well stocked! We only walked around one side of the store so we didn't get to see the rest of it but the reason for that is because I got kicked out of the store for taking pictures for Google. I was taking a picture of one of the aisles (which I will not include the employees photo) and she walked around the corner right at that moment and started yelling at me and telling me that that was not allowed in her store. She actually told me to get out and threatened to call the police, for some reason felt threatened. I tried to reassure her that I was just doing a Google review because I was excited to visit the store and that it was a positive thing, there was nothing negative about what I was doing. She told me that it was not allowed at her store and I asked her if she was the owner and she said that she was not but I needed to leave. I was really disappointed in her behavior and her customer service. I more than likely will never return to the store but it was cool to see momentarily. I'm not here to just leave negative reviews in fact I absolutely hate having to do that because I absolutely love doing Google reviews it's become quite a fun hobby! So that's why I'm going to end in this paragraph with reminding you how nice the store was that it was clean and remodeled and everything was very well stocked, I was actually very impressed by that! They carry a great variety of Christmas boxes, ornaments, gift bags and candies for the holiday. I got a great bunch!! I was also able to find nice home decor picture frames that were simple and let the pictures stand out.

It's just another quick stop dollar general in illinois, I would rate higher, but it's a bit discouraging to see a posted sign targeting the youth. The sign stated, "Only two under 18 allowed in at a time". This coming from a "major" retailer is a bit concerning. Is it a lack of funding to implement newer security cameras ? I've been in a wide variety of dollar generals ranging from small towns up to multiple millions of residents. Why is this small town dollar general targeting the younger community?

Older lady in morning is very rude! She is rude to vendors and all she do is complain! Always outside smoking on her phone! Enough is enough! 3-13-24 9:20am!

The lady and her daughter that work at this store are the rudest and most disrespectful people I have ever met in customer service. It’s like you are burdening them for shopping in the store. The daughter literally said here you go throwing my receipt over the top of the register, when I replied- thank you I got a YA! Like I owed her something for being there. If you can’t handle checking people out and customer service get a new job there’s a million of them out there. Miserable experience- store and management needs help!

I refuse to ever shop here. Several years ago, I worked in the same strip as this store. I went in to grab a quick frozen meal for lunch and I heard some woman tell an employee that if he didn't finish his two weeks notice they would keep his final paycheck. I refuse to support a store that blatantly breaches state and federal wage laws, and highly recommend that everyone else boycotts this terrible store and it's employees.

This DG needs new management. Consistently bad service, and they are never open on Saturdays. I went there at noon and it was closed. This has happened several times to where I just plan on going to other stores.

The store is always clean and organized was my favorite DG, NOW how ever the store manager can be quite rude. She asked my sister if she knew how to read and instead proved that she herself can't. The sign on the door said no ebt today's date at 11pm and our ebt card worked because it was not yet 11p was actually 9am ... I went over there and asked why everytime my sister goes in there she's gotta be rude to her... she informed me it's store policy....what is? being able to read? what if my sister couldn't read I don't know it was alot better under other management

Their new location in downtown is great for me - easy walking distance. They are a standard Dollar General on the inside with decent inventory and layout. Their staff is okay but a bit less attentive than ideal.

They don't always have everything I need, but I usually find what I can use. The help is very friendly and helpful. They always try as hard as they can to make sure you only have to wait as long as absolutely necessary.

When the store first opened, they were open till 10pm.that was perfect, but now they close at 8pm.a person now has to hurry to get off work and get there before they close......
