This store is amazing they have everything I need and have great customer service i been coming here for all my axotic animals needs. I choose to go here over other stores specifically because how nice they are and are always glad to help and answer questions and if something is wrong with your purchase they fix it they don't just say oh well ur out of luck like the owner of Chicago reptile house does

I love this place, truly do. I bought my best friend here and she's still living healthy as ever after 3 years. That just shows that they don't sell you sick animals like some places do. To be exact the animal store. But I plan on coming back because they are very friendly

Best selection and prices in the Chicagoland area. It is always busy, and for good reason. Jason is a great guy and he gets things in regularly you will rarely see anywhere else. It is a long drive for me, and I pass many other shops on the way. If you are thinking of going to Aquarium Adventure, keep driving and check this place out. Better selection at half the price.

I love coming here! I get food (bugs/feeders) for my bearded dragon and the people inside always makes me feel welcomed. They're a big help when I have questions. Even let me bring my baby in❤️

We love this little neighborhood shop that packs a ton of supplies for exotic pets. We get our crickets there weekly for our Bearded dragon and everyone is super helpful and knowledgeable!

Not sure who the guy is but he was very rude and arrogant giving zero respect to the customer. Customers deserve the bare minimum of respect and he was unwilling to give it.There also seems to be a lot of fake reviews on google and Facebook praising the store so take the rating with a massive grain of salt

I came out here from Indiana to find Whites Tree frogs, and i definitely found them. All of them were really healthy and happy. I’ve had them for about a month now, and there’s no issues with them eating or any weird illnesses. All the animals were really healthy, and everyone was so friendly. Everything was a 10/10, even the prices. I will make another hour drive just to visit again.

I absolutely love this place. The owner, Jason, is one of the friendliest people I know. I have gotten a crested gecko as well as a corn snake from here, and I absolutely love them. I continue to come back for fuzzies, crickets, and supplies because the prices are great, and his feeders are always super healthy!

I love this place. People are helpful and extremely nice. They are also knowledgeable on the pets they sell there and offer advice too. I come here now for my pet purchases plus you can tell they love their animals they are well cared for unlike some other places

Update: second time here. They still have a huge variety of of fish and shrimps. Got some orange pumpkin shrimp this time.I would say this place is worth the drive from Chicago. There is a huge variety of fish and reptiles. Im a fish guy - i was able to find a lot of rare fish that i couldn’t find anywhere else. I got some galaxy rasboras and i am definitely going back for more varieties. The staff was helpful was well. So why only 4 and not 5 stars ? I want them to have more aquarium plants. There was only 1 tank for plants, and it was full of algae. Also the place needs to be a little more spacious, it is pretty cramped up. But for anyone that want to get fish, i would strongly suggest this place. They also have some exotic pets like spiders, snakes, geckos, etc.

Every visit is always better and better. Absolutely love this place! Amazing Customer Service, and Knowledged employees. Clean, Professional, and Friendly. Highly recommend, even if just for a visit! It's a very beautiful and calming store, even just to visit.

I didn't go inside but my honey went in to get some live food for his fish. The place seemed small from the outside but people were coming out of there like it was a clown car. judging from the amount of traffic in and out, I would assume the people love this place.

My husband and i are regulars and everyone here is super friendly and helpful they have quite an assortment of the more "exotic" pets and have some pretty good deals running most of the time i highly recommend this store

Great service and beautiful fish. Every time I go here, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They also have an incredible fish, mammal, and reptile selection for feeder and ornamental purposes. I've seen fish there I haven't even heard of, and they're all conveniently priced. Even the expensive ones are a relatively good deal compared to other stores. Animal island is 100% my go-to pet store.

I've gotten a bunny, bearded dragon and an axoltyl from here! Recently 3 geckos! They are amazing. They help grab everything you need to make sure your new pet has a nice set up to start!

Worth the drive (41 minutes), make sure you call first, fish and pets moves fast in this place. Here today, gone the next. If you're coming long distance bring your own bucket and aerator (traffic can be bad during rush hours).Edit: change from 4 to 3 Stars due to green hair algae that I got from buying their plants (the algae started growing from the plants) and essentially colonized my 60g tank. Good thing i practice isolation protocol with my aquarium equipment to avoid cross contamination with the other tanks (850g total).

I’m happy I found this place to buy crickets from. When I’ve purchased them in the past from other places the crickets would die in transport or the next day. Animal Island crickets can last up to a week.
