We have been talking for over a year that we’ve been wanting a corgi and our dream has come true. we rescued “bunker” and renamed her cannoli it was so simple and straightforward of a process staff was amazing educational and she’s loving her new home. I can’t believe anyone gave her up she’s the sweetest! I would recommend this business tenfold over beyond satisfied with our adoption 😌.

A very nice facility with great employees and volunteers doing all they can to help animals have a safe place to live and receive enrichment until they find their forever homes. The adoption process is smooth and enjoyable and every animal I've ever adopted from them has been an amazing companion and friend.

Great place to get a foster dog from. They pay for food and vet bills!They're not always honest apparently though, as I fostered the dog bolo for almost a year and he is definitely NOT house trained, but he would make a very good pet with some training and discipline.

By far the most helpful, compassionate, thorough and generous vet clinic I have ever been to in my life. I had to take my seriously ill kitty there all the way from Crown Point, IN, after every vet here turned me away due to low funds until payday. They saved him and they saved me from losing my beloved pet and subsequently my mind. Thank you so much Dr. Lisa and the wonderful team there. ✨️💙✨️ You kindness will never be forgotten.

Adopted my senior dog Newton here! He’s the love of my life! Adopted him when he was 12 y/o (11/2019) and he is still living a healthy and active life! Can’t wait to get my house, so I can foster as many dogs as needed! It breaks my heart that I can’t do so now.Update: My Mr. Newton is still happy as he will ever be but he recently went blind.. I LOVE recommending & donating to SSHS!

Walked in.. the staff that greeted me was great. Found the dog I wanted to see right away. Got some walk time with Drae a pitbull terrier. Staff gave me the backstory on him.. He was found and was a level 3 doggie (no worries for me). Small donation to keep the facility up and running and staffed. Get an animal from them. They were great. DRAE. Is now Egypt. And he has well-adjusted to me

Dr. Lisa Quinn and the entire staff at South Suburban Human Veterinarian Service are wonderful!! My Yorkie Sasha is very sick with enlarged liver and other liver problems. Dr. Quinn and staff are working very hard to save my fur baby life. Sasha is improving the medication I believe is working. I would recommend South Suburban Human to everyone with a cat or dog. The staff and Dr. Quinn are very compassionate people. They treat Sasha and I like family! Sasha also had kidney disease and an enlarged heart, but thanks to Dr. Quinn and staff she does not have kidney disease or an enlarged heart any longer. They are the BEST!

This place is a blessing from God. Everyone of the workers are definitely going through the gates of heaven. We have been so fortunate to now have two fur babies from their facilities and we keep in touch with some of the workers and update with pictures and it's just such a beautiful place. Definitely worth donating and they gave us such a beautiful dog that matched so nicely with our dog at home who doesn't get along with that many dogs.

Everyone was so awesome! From the time I called., Brought the feral cat in w her kittens & left. Such sweet people doing awesome work. Unfortunately we have ppl in the neighborhood feeding & not fixing cats which has led to quite an explosion of feral cats! Some w gaping wounds. Freezing in winter. Please don't feed strays unless you intend on having them spayed/nuetered & provide care for them!! They have a great clinic w low cost services!! The clinic is excellent as well! Providing great care & keeping me up to date. Please fix your pets!! There are so many homeless animals! The new facilities are beautiful as well. Don't shop! Adopt! They have awesome pets that need loving forever homes! Thank you for all you do!

Beware!!! Paid $230 for a 2 month old puppy. Took her to the vet a day after i got her. Vet told me South Suburban spaided her WAY too early. Not only this, but she came with roundworms, giardia, and coccidia! I have not had my puppy for more than 3 weeks and have already paid well over $3,000 trying to get her healthy!

Please note that if you are coming to this location for the veterinary services, Google says they open at noon, and that is incorrect. They go to lunch at noon, so please check their website.I visited the clinic yesterday to lay our senior dog to rest. The staff was wonderful to us. They were very busy but they got us a room right away. Thank you all for kindness.

UPDATE‼️‼️🆘❌🛑⚠️EVERYONE PLEASE READ ITS VERY IMPORTANT MATTESON IL BAD EXPERIENCEI have gotten 2 of my dogs from south suburban humane society the one in CHICAGO HEIGHTS I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO GO THERE AND GET THEIR PETS FROM THEM INSTEAD OF THE ONE IN MATTESON IL, AND HOMEWOOD FOR MANY REASONS IT WAS MY FIRST TIME VISITING THEM AND IT DEFINITELY WAS A RED FLAG WEN I STARTED TO SEE EVERYONE BRING THEIR DOGS BACK AND WITH GOOD REASON right now I’m going through the process of getting rid of a sickly and dying dog they never told us how bad her health was PLEASE EVERYONE TO SAVE URSELF FROM HEADACHES LIKE IM GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW PLEASE HEED MY WARNINGS I’ve been calling them with no call backs no voicemails or anything i will never ever go back there. customer care in Chicago heights were kind hearted, helpful, AND gave u a lot of useful information THAT U NEEDED TO KNOW about ur dog, communicative and let’s u spend time with ur pet for awhile if that’s really truly the pet u want to bring home they definitely have a forever customer but very disappointing how visiting homewood and the one in MATTESON was a terrible experience

It's a hit or miss, sometimes the staff is nice other times they have an attitude. I wish I knew the names of the few people I have interacted with that were awesome. The African American young lady in intake was a bit rude, she seemed annoyed in general by her job.

We got to meet the cutest pups. Literally the best adoption facility within 20 miles. I tried TLC in homer Glenn and they wanted 500$ for an ADOPTION total rip off and everywhere you need to fill out an application before even meeting a dog. Naws won’t even let u see them.. its no wonder why they are always full.. the process is so complicated. SSH the employees are all very welcoming and so helpful! There is a girl with pink hair( sorry forgot her name) was SUPER helpful with us in the adoption room and answered all our questions and went beyond by explaining every step and giving us helpful ideas.. and just was an eye opening experience on how she’s so dedicated to what she does. We didn’t end going through with the adoption but we will be back for sure and hopefully find a good match for us!

If you are trying to walk in at 9am get here at 8am. I got here at 9 and I was #76 out of the 100 that they will see. It is currently 11:34 and I still haven't been seen. But that's the nature of this. Staff is friendly and professional and they offer the services we all clearly need for our furbabies at reasonable prices so cannot rate them poorly dor that. Just plan ahead. Consider weather and eat before lol

They took in 2 stray cats found in my back yard. One was adopted out and the other passed away.They aren't quick to help with strays or answer phones and could have done more in my opinion to save cat found. They always say they have no room for strays but adoptive parents say plenty of room.. I think they should do way more to help strays or lost animals.. especially cats

Today I came into look at the cats/kittens because I’m interested in adopting. I was not greet by any of the staff members when I entered. I went into the cat area and was basically ignore the entire time I was there. I might as well been invisible. She never came up to me. Didn’t ask me if I wanted to see any particular animal at all and other guest had to flag her down when I had a question which she seem bothered to even answer. I’m not sure if it is because I’m black and that’s why she ignored me but was able to service ever other guest that entered who was not black but I think that is inconsiderate. I felt uncomfortable being in the area being ignored by your staff members and it was weird having to only view the cats through glass doors because I felt uncomfortable asking due to get cold offstandish responses and like I stated basically being ignored.

The vet wanted $2k-$3k to do a pymetra surgery on our cat. South Suburban did it for $240 and saved us from putting our cat down. They are efficient and friendly. Thank you for actually caring for the animals and not being greedy pigs like most vets these days.

i was recommended this place as a "low cost spay & neuter clinic" i scheduled an appointment with them & decided to drive an hour + away for the services & i was disappointed.i was told one price at the time of booking & they told me at drop-off that i will pay when i pick up my cat...at the time of pick up, i was charged $100 more than the price i was given originally & when i brought it up to the lady at the counter, she told me that the price i was given doesn't exist & that their was nothing she could do about it.i was then told to wait while she went to get my cat from the back, brought him to me, did not say a word, set him down at my feet and walked away & never came back. i was never given pain meds or care instructions prior to surgery.my cat was also completely covered in pee the second she brought him out to me. his carrier was filled with pee and poop when she handed him to me with no efforts to clean him, as he was laying in his own filth. (which could easily infect his fresh wound)i am VERY disappointed with my visit here & do not recommend as my animal was treated very poorly and their customer service skills are POOR!

Our second Humane Society we have fostered with and the SSHS team goes above and beyond! Love their foster coordinator Maria, she is amazing! Thoroughly explained the process and quick to reply with any questions or concerns we had after bringing our foster home. We will definitely be fostering with them again. We are so happy to work with a great place like SSHS. Looking forward to helping them save more lives. Every experience there was positive. Keep up the wonderful work everyone!

Everyone here is so kind and caring I came to put my dog down on 2024 Jan 3 and they put me in a room to take as long as I needed to knock on door and they’d put in catheter. When they brought her back they brought potato chips and cookies for her so she can pig out before crossing rainbow bridge. Vet came in and explained sedative and barbiturates and how it stops their heart. Took her heart rate after and allowed me as much time as needed. This is the definition of compassion and idk if I’ll ever get another dog but if I do this place will be my vet for all care

The clinic portion of the Humane Society was rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and no help to assist with another clinic. I had an appointment to schedule my 10week pup for shots, I was told documentation was needed to prove low income before service would be rendered. As not being low income is a blessing I was treated as less than human because I’m am not low income and no service for pup would be provided due to my income status. I even attempted to pay out of pocket and was still denied service. I lost a whole litter of pups to Parvo, and just wanted to ensure my new pup didn’t sub come to the same outcome. When I asked for assistance finding a vet my pup could go to I was told i needed to look it up myself. I never had this problem with the spray and neuter part of the clinic but the veterinary part just plain young rude staff.
