This pet store has so much to see. We adopted a puppy from here two years ago. The staff here are great, they know everything in regards to any animal they have. They have a huge selection of toys, food and treats. I highly recommend this store especially if you are looking for more exotic pets that most stores don't have. This is a one stop shop.

We had just lost one of our doggies named Chloe and went to the Scott’s Smiths event and couldn’t helpTo fall in love with Winter who at the time was Gabby ….From the moment we asked to hold her to the moment we walked out with her was such a great experience , every question we had was answered and the feeling of being able to rescue a pup 🐶 was the best … everyone in your team is awesome and great at helping answer everyone’s questions … keep Rocking and saving life’s .

Adopted a puppy from here. He has a severe case of giardia, and also had coccidia. We are on round two of treatment of giardia with multiple meds. I contacted them on fb and they were really defensive about me just letting them know for the safety of the other animals. Also when I got the pup he was covered in newspaper ink and was in desperate need of a bath (took 2 good baths to get him cleaned up). I don’t regret getting our pup but I wouldn’t go back there to get another out of fear of what could be spreading around there. In my opinion these are designer breeds, not breeds you’d typically see in a rescue.

If you attempt to make any comments on their Facebook page about their practices they will just block you. People read the reviews on here and don't buy their puppy mill dogs. At the very least look up puppy mills online and research the sickening stories of where puppies such as these come from. You are NOT saving or rescuing a puppy. You are furthering the abuse that their parents continue to bear!

They are charging 1000.00 for their puppies. As a rescue/shelter that is ridiculous and so wrong. Also they are saying that it's 600 in vet bills per dog as well as spayed and neutered. Your not supposed to spay an neuter puppies before they are one! That causes major health and growth issues. Oh and block you from their Facebook page and messenger when you tell them this info and when you comment the price of a dog. Very unprofessional when you can't have a normal conversation.I would think twice before going here..

Back in June, we adopted a boxer from this “rescue”. From the very beginning, it was nothing but problems. He had a severe case of kennel cough that he gave to our other dogs, he had constant bloody diarrhea, giardia, and was not neutered. We were told he was perfectly healthy, less than two years old, and had no known behavioral issues. All of these things were a complete lie. In the 4 months we had him, we spent thousands of dollars on vet bills for testing and neutering and medications to try and get him better. Finally our vet was able to determine he had a chronic disease and would require weekly to biweekly injections, along with daily meds to keep his symptoms at bay. After a few weeks, he was starting to feel better. That’s when the aggression started. Once he was healthy and no longer weak, he became severely aggressive with one of our other dogs and injured him very badly, requiring vet care every time. He unprovoked had bitten two guests, gone after our pig numerous times and attacked our dog five different times. After trying to keep him separate, consulting with a trainer, as well as our vet, it was recommended we euthanize due to the severity of his unprovoked aggression and how dangerous he was. I reached out to Angela for some sort of help because I didn’t want to do that. She said she had forever fosters and may be able to take him in a home with no other dogs. Once I told her he had chronic health issues, she never responded. We did end up euthanizing him and this whole experience has been extremely traumatizing for my family. We are dog rescuers and dog lovers. We are not scared of working with issues. But this was something that not many people would be able to handle. So basically, this dog was relinquished to them, he had no vet care, was not neutered, was extremely sick, and had severe behavioral issues. And we were still charged 400 dollars for him. This isn’t a rescue, this is a dog flipping business. They get puppies from puppy mills or owner relinquishments and sell them for a profit. A real rescue doesn’t adopt out dogs like him. A real rescue doesn’t have puppies living in chinchilla cages. A real rescue doesn’t charge 600 and higher for mutts and a thousand or more for “pure bred” or “designer breeds”. It’s all for profit. A scam. All dogs deserve homes, but let’s call it what it is. This is not a reputable rescue. And they are part of the problem within the rescue community, because what they do, makes it impossible for actual rescues to rehabilitate and spend the time and resources on the dogs with severe issues. There’s too many dogs out there and they are only continuing to support the puppy mill pipeline whether they admit it or not. We have spent a lot of money in this store weekly for crickets and dog food and other items. We love supporting small businesses and I really debated writing this review at all. But after reading the other bad reviews, I felt that perhaps our experience would benefit someone else and maybe even protect another dog from the same fate. This isn’t a small business or people that deserve your support. It’s really just heart breaking and I would never go to this place again, and you shouldn’t either. It’s clear that once the animal leaves their facility, they take absolutely no responsibility for what you purchased. They don’t care, it’s that simple. Real rescues care.

They carry a variety of pet food my beagle has allergies so we avoid the more domesticated type like beef chicken etc and I think the food we get them now helps it for sensitive skin and stomachs the staff is super friendly and they adopt out rescued animals so they don’t stock animals like a pet store which I like a lot I’m a firm believer in adopting rescues. I’m happy they rescue animals and are located in a convenient place over all a great place ^.^

The employees were very rude and instead of helping me find what I was looking for they were running all over the store and when I finally got help after being told 30 minutes later they could finally help me if the phone would stop ringing I thought the customer in the store was more important because the call could wait I guess I was wrong the only reason I we to the store was because I had my dog at the vet I will not be returning to that store

Thank you so much to the owners!! I was the one who lost my wedding photo there, and they posted it, which was very comforting to me to get it back as my husband passed away last year and it meant a lot to me to get it back! My dog has also since passed, so haven’t been there since but if I ever decide to get another pet, Wholesome Petz will be my go-to! It’s very comforting to know people care about their customers! Love this place! The store is huge and has just about everything needed for your pet. If they don’t have what you are looking for, they will do their best to find it for you. Angela and Ricky as well as their family are awesome and caring people. We adopted our last rescue from there. He is a great dog on his way to be a hospice dog to bring a little joy to those who have none. Marengo is very lucky to have such a great local store! This is one of the best pet stores around. They have just about everything you need for your pet, if they don't have they will do their best to get it for you. And if you are into fishes Kevin is your guy. He knows what he is doing and what not to do, he knows his fishes and plants he is very knowledgeable about the underwater pets. The bettas they get in are gorgeous. Good place to start with your pets needs.

Needed some help have two cats one very picky and fat one not so picky and skinny. So I needed two different wet foods. One higher in fat and one lower fat. And the woman in the store was very knowledgeable about cats and about there food. Thank you for your help!!

Brought my new puppy in today…everyone there was just so amazing. I was able to get him everything he needed including vaccinations and deworming at an amazing price. You could just tell how much the staff truly cared for animals. Definitely recommend and will be back very soon! Thank you again for everything!

Stay far away from this place!! Owner is a known scam artist. Adopted a dog that had parvo owner gives the run around and takes no responsibility. Paid $850 for the dog and already $3000 in vet bills. The owner refuses to help with vet bills. Do a quick Google search before going here she is a known scam artist and should not be in business.

Great place to get aquatic plants I think the guy's name is Kevin.....wears a Hat has a goatee very helpful very knowledgeable and not hard to tell puts a lot of work into the aquatic plants. healthy beautiful plants to put in your tank highly recommend them. And just found out they sell farm grown bluegill. Great place check them out

DO NOT GET AN ANIMAL FROM THIS PLACE!They pretend to be a "rescue", but in reality, they are buying puppies off FaceBook and reselling them at their shop. I saw on FB someone trying to sell a pretty rare breed dog, by the time I could get out to look at them, they were all gone. The next day, I saw this business post that they had the same puppies! I contacted the original posting to ask if they were the same puppies and was told they were! They are frauds... in multiple ways. After I was blocked on FB (by the owner for calling them out) I also put in a call to the Department of Agriculture to let them know what they are doing (since the owner also decided to never respond to my phone call either). They were aware and said this place has had multiple complaints and investigations.Just ask yourself, if this was a legit rescue, isn't it strange that they:1. Only ever have puppies? No adult dogs2. Only ever have pure breed puppies or designer mixed breeds (like doodles)3. Have prices that vary depending on the breed, instead of a standard adoption fee?4. Go to animal swap meets to sell puppies5. Never have any pictures of the pups BEFORE they are "rescued", especially if you are trying to say they come from puppy mills?This place is just bad news. They play on your heartstrings to make you think you are doing the right thing by adopting these puppies with sad back stories, but in all reality, you're just re-buying a dog they found posted for sale elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and work with a REPUTABLE rescue. Trash.

Great pet store, large selection of supplies. Knowledgeable owners who are helpful and always willing to have a chat with me. So many cat items to supply my extreme needs and they have even orderer/stocked items by my request. With the last year i have purchased MANY healthy fish and aquatic plants here as well. (130 gallon tank at home) Thank you Wholesome Petz!
