Yesterday I went to the deli and walked up to ask how the portions were served for the hot n ready food and the nastiest old lady that was working behind counter took forever to come to me and was EXTREMELY rude. I immediately walked away and never got anything. She needs to learn how to talk to people let alone Customers! Was so close to getting the manager I was disgusted and disappointed with the attitude and lack of professionalism I got by asking a simple question.

Nice store , clean, but did not have my canned cactus or canned carrots in the Mexican aisle neither did they have the hominy I was looking for in the Mexican aisle

Clean store, lots of product choices, they have in stock what is on sale, best meat in Kankakee and friendly staff. Oh, the prices are also good. Watch their sales for exceptional values

Very pleasant helpful staff! The store is very clean and well stocked. I loved the deli. I was told to try the rotisserie chicken because it's fabulous! I will go back for that. This is a awsome small town store with a big city feel. Great experience!

Cashiers have no interpersonal skills. How is it no front end manager is making sure employees know customer service is part of their job ? Especially AMY .. couldn’t move slower if she tried & since she didn’t bother to greet me.. or respond once I said hi.. front end mgmt needs to step up

The guacamole is 8$ a pound and it’s the worst guacamole I’ve ever had in my life. Giant chunks of onion. Disgusting. Walmart has cheaper and better guacamole i recommend wholly guacamole by the salad section at Walmart.

I love this place. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The manager is so nice. The deli and bakery food is always amazing. I love the meat sales because we always get to stock up our fridge. The staff is always super sweet to my family. I love shopping here. I also love that they are starting a vegan area in the store as well.

This store has been consistently disappointing. I have purchased food items that were expired, spoiled, and moldy from this store. This store is dirty, disorganized, and the prices are high. I stop at this store only out of desperation. I will stick with Meijer or Jewel. I have thrown my money away too often shopping at that dump.

We have repeatedly gotten spoiled meat and old products from this store. It doesn't matter who is working, it is the stores policies. They sell their products until sold, with no regards to dating. They rarely remove old items and the freezer section oft has items that are frost bit.Extremely disappointing.Over the last 2 years we've tried this store over a dozen times. Maybe good for a quick gallon of milk, but beware the dates! Shop elsewhere.

It was very clean and well stocked. I didn't check the toilet paper aisle as I didn't need any. The employees were fantastic. They had masks on and kept 6ft back. They were very, very nice and helpful. I will shop there more often now.

We are hosting an outdoor baby shower and had to get 9 bags of ice. The cashier was great however the lady at customer service sent someone over to "check how many bags were left." After I told the boy how many were left, the customer service lady RUDELY SCREAMED "we only have five bags left." It made me want to get a refund and go elsewhere. Customer service should never leave customers with a bad taste after shopping. Do better.

Very unhappy with the attitude of the checkout girl and others. Who ever is the store manager really needs to teach employees about simple courtesy. I’ve owned businesses, a law practice and construction company, my entire adult life. If my employees were as aloof, unfriendly and disinterested in working as the people I ran into today, they would all be terminated. Never coming back.

Great me quality food items. Store could be a little better organized so you didn't have so much walking to do but it is what it is. I realize it's an older store and designed for the time. But the meat is great the deli is okay better than Kroger. The staff is helpful if you can find someone. If I had one complaint it would be there are not enough people to help on the floor when you are looking for things you have to look for people and then go to with them to find the item you're looking for. When you have trouble walking this is an issue.

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT WORKING HERE, DON’T! Absolutely RIDICULOUS how many times my fiancé had to let his manager know that MANY hours were missing out of his check! My fiancé should not have to remind his superior to fix HIS mistakes. He should not be putting his all into a job that is not even MAKING SURE they are doing their part. Careless and irresponsible management. Words cannot describe our frustration.

Terrible . They tend to hide bad meat under good meat . The store had a bad smell of something spoiled . I'm done shopping at Berkots . Deceiving practices . In order to post they request a star , not even worth it .

Frequently has expired products on the shelves especially in the dairy department. Last month I purchased a $4 summer sausage that when I got home and went to open it the next day I discovered that it had expired nearly two months prior. Normally has great meat and great sale prices just make sure to check the expiration dates because they clearly do not.

Love this store! Always clean. Great products! Only ones who have Pizza Parlor French bread pizza( now 10 for $10) best frozen pizza ! Shop local and support our neighborhood.

I absolutely love the meat department and the truckload sales! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because sometimes the produce department is seriously lacking, but not always. To me the best kept secret is the Alexandra's peirogis!! They are way, WAY better than the national brands and have special flavors that I haven't seen in other brands. The maultashen flavor is my absolute favorite, it is a savory filling with spinach, breadcrumbs, and some type of pork or pork drippings. They are absolutely incredible, I like to boil them and then pan fry them in butter. As long as we are on the subject of great things that you can only find at Berkot's why don't you pair those peirogis with their smoked pork chops? They are not only incredibly tender, juicy and flavorful but they are so easy to prepare. You can throw them on the grill long enough to get some good grill marks and warm them through or sear them in a cast iron skillet on high heat just long enough to get some nice caramelization, either way you go; it can take you less than ten minutes because they are already thoroughly cooked from the smoking process. There are so many other things that I could rave about (if you haven't tried their bacon do yourself a favor and get some), but my reveiw is already a mile long. I hope that the 4 star review doesn't take away from the fact of how much I really do love this store but as I stated earlier the produce department does kind of throw me off sometimes.

I wish Berkots would branch out to the Oak Lawn area. Great products prices and customer service. I stock up whenever I'm down in manteno. Great meat department and quality. The chicken actually tastes like chicken and not antibiotics like they do here at our local grocers.

It's usually late when I stop at Berkot's in Manteno because I am heading home after work. They are a small but mighty supermarket. This is the place I where I have never purchased a bad piece of meat. Their steaks and sausages are excellent. They carry a wide variety of homemade sausages. They are open till 10 on weekdays which makes it very convenient for me. Try their meats. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you Berkots for reminding me why I shop at Jewel. Berkots is dirty, most of the shelves are empty so u can not get what u r looking for. Only the 10 or less express lane is open and the line was very long. Clearly they need to hire some people . It used to be a good store long ago

Update: THEIR MEAT SALES ARE A SCAM!!! I went here earlier in the week and their ground beef and steaks were 5.99 a pound got there today for their “sale” and they raised the steaks to 13.99lb and I got a 1/2lb steak for almost the same price I would have paid for a pound. The chicken was 3.99 a pound before their “buy one get one free sale” and at their sale they raised the price to 8.40 for one and you get the other one free?? You actually end up paying 42 cents MORE!!!! SCAM AND LYING watch their prices you will see it !!! No more shopping here for me...

very disappointed in the lack of selection with the Manteno Berkots Came for a specific bakery item, that is always in stock, to find they were sold out. I mean, who sells out of cookie cakes?! It was all I wanted, all day, to soothe my heart. Will try again later this week.
