I am not one to give negative reviews, but the experience I had with the owner was unacceptable for a pet professional retailer to any customer entering her store with a pet. I went in with my dog and he had a poop incident. I do walk my dog and he did do business earlier so I did not expect him to go again. Before this happened, I was friendly coming in and even said hello to the owner. I was expecting to look for new food for a cat we recently adopted and maybe some treats for my dog. But shortly after we went in I apologized and told her my dog just had a poop incident. I asked her for a bag forgetting that I had my own with me and not in the car. I told her I'll clean it up but that she will need a mop. She was very huffy and puffy and told me 'don't you have your own bags?" Remembering then that I did, I cleaned it up. But she kept going on with her terrible attitude saying her words literally out loud with a disgusted and frustrating tone. I then explained to her, which I shouldn't have to, that these things happen. If you run a pet store accepting dogs to come in, accidents will happen at some point or another. Working in the pet industry myself, I understand that these things just will happen. So I was shocked at her response, her overall attitude, and that she was so angry about it. After all was cleaned up, which took no time at all, she then asks me what it is she can get me as if I'd spend my money there after such treatment. I said "nothing anymore."I should of went with my gut and just went to the local small business competitor that has never treated me as a customer in such an unprofessional manner. This place has lost any future business from myself, and for any of the clients that I do business with professionally, I'll be sure to pass on my experience if the conversation comes up for referrals which is often. I will continue to refer other businesses according to their need instead of hers to find pet products. As far as any other staff I had dealings with here and there over the years, they were always very friendly.

Becky at Ruff Life has been an essential part of our lives as a dog owners for years. Her welcoming and friendly demeanor makes us and our dogs feel at ease every time we visit. She has the best selection of dog food, treats, bones, and toys that I know are good for our babies. What sets her apart is her exceptional customer service - she remembers our names and dogs' names from the first time we met!I remember the difficult time when we lost our beloved dog, Clark. Becky was there to comfort me through it and even cried with me. It was an incredibly touching moment that I will never forget. She is not just a business owner, but a true friend to her customers and their pets. She’s a staple in the community and Lombard is blessed to have her.We now have two new schnauzers that she has welcomed with open arms and knows just what they need. They can't get enough of her cuddles, and our visits to Ruff Life have become precious highlights in our lives. I can't recommend Becky and Ruff Life enough - she truly makes a difference in the lives of dogs and their owners.

Love this shop! Everyone who works here is knowledgeable and very friendly. They are eager to answer any questions you may have about pet foods and will even give samples on occasion. Prices are good too. I highly recommend this shop and my pups do too!

Absolutely amazing! They carry some of the best pet foods and they are so knowledgeable about what they carry and where it is sourced. Prices are also amazing, they have a wall of baskets with treats like cod skin and jerky that would cost at least 50% more online or at other shops. Everything they carry is either local or made in the U.S.Also a super cute bulldog chillin on his bed.

I seriously cannot say enough good things about Ruff Life. I recently adopted my first puppy ever. My daughter and I decided to stop in to check out what they had and because I wanted to scope out their pricing on the Fromm dog food. To my surprise, the pricing was exactly the same as the shelter we adopted Bear from! I was expecting high end prices because they are a cute little boutique shop. Everything is priced the same or lower than your typical big box retailer. They have a very large selection of healthy, natural food and treats for both dogs and cats. There is a whole wall of toys, some very unique and also your basic essentials. They even have a little bakery section of birthday treats or just because treats! 🙂Both times we went in, Becky was working. She is one of the owners and such a delightful person. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Chris yet, but I'm sure he is equally as pleasant. I probably spent an hour in there today chatting with her. She answered all of my puppy questions and gave me some great recommendations. I never once felt like I was bothering her.They have an amazing rewards program where if you spend $250, they give you $25 off your next purchase. Whaaaaat! That's so easy with a puppy and such a great deal!I will 100% continue to shop there for all of my pet needs. I'm most excited for all of the new stuff they will be adding for the holidays!!If you want to shop somewhere with knowledgeable and caring staff, competitive pricing and most importantly, a wide range of healthy selections, you MUST check out Ruff Life! Their first location is in Elmhurst. I haven't been there yet, but I plan to check it out because why not?!

What a hidden gem! I had noticed this place a while ago and decided to stop by today. They had Zignature can food in stock, which I hadn't been able to find anywhere. So I was happy about that! I found a few fish treats for my dog that I know she's going to love. I didn't get the lady's name but she was very helpful. I will most definitely continue to support this local business 🐶
