Worker/owner I believe, was very nice, is great with people , and was able to talk me into buying my first snake 🐍 I absolutely love Calypso ❤️ There prices are more resonable than pets Smart and other stores. It also looked like they treated their reptiles and other animals with great care as well, which is one of the main things I look at and for at places like these. I only wish the store was larger. Thank you so much for an amazing experience! I'll definitely be back.

I go there from time to time to get crickets and meal worms for grandkids lizards. People are always friendly. And other people are either getting food or looking at at turtles or other reptiles in their store. And they always are asking if they need help or are answering questions for them. They are people that are knowledgeable and friendly.

Guy behind the desk was very nice and polite. Smell was horrific! Can we just all agree that human greed is why places like this exist (they should not)! Cages and cages of animals guaranteed to never live life to their potential, a Tupperware of baby feeder rats in different stages of dying. We are better then this. Let's shut these places down, no demand- no animals being taken advantage of. Respect and peace.

Such a cool and amazing shop. I stopped by earlier today just to browse around and even got to hold a snake. From reptiles to rodents this place has a little bit for everyone. Definitely worth the look🐍

Frequent shopper , I Get Racially profiled quite often by the owner The First time He Said he had speculation That me and my sisters were stealing his snakes. When Anybody else comes in and Opens up a Tank to hold animal There is no problem , When me ;being an African american reptile lover he calls the police and Has Me and my friends patted down saying he thought we stole his leopard gecko. When i brung my friends to shop from him he calls the police. Overall a bad experience , If you are of color its sad to see current day racism just trying to buy a reptile.. If You Are Looking for a more professional , nice , wider selection And An overall better experience go to Chicago reptile house In Orland Park Highly recommend.

A free reptile and rodent museum, plus a built in aquarium.Staff were very accommodating and even taught me what a quail was.Spoiler: It's to a chicken what a mouse is to a rat.They also sell pig ears and other assorted dog treats.

I went in on a 65 degree day. The shop was nauseatingly hot and absolutely reeked of ammonia (urine). Plus, with apparently no AC, they should NOT be carrying small furry animals (chinchillas, ferrets, guinea pigs). Not only is the ammonia terrible for their health, but the heat is unbearable for them. These animals do not sweat, so it’s nearly impossible for them to cool off. These cages are not acceptable. Ferrets cannot be kept in a fish tank, and certainly not without any hides, toys, or things to climb. Ferrets, chinchillas, rats, ginuea pigs, etc. are highly intelligent animals. To keep them in an empty, dirty, smelly and hot cage is essentially abuse. Especially because the ferrets were labeled “not for sale”, im assuming they are pets. Keeping ferrets in a single level, empty cage is neglect. Disgusting. You’re a pet shop, have some respect and knowledge of the pets you’re selling. Even petco and petsmart treat their animals better than this. They literally had an extra multi-story ferret cage but chose to keep them in this. PLEASE add, at the very least, a tile slab or stone in each cage (they’ll lie on this to keep cool), hammocks or hides, and some sort of toy or wood to chew on

It was kind of funky I think an animal had died overnight and the guy running the place seemed kind of stressed out but even though he seemed very busy he still took the time to give me tips about the leopard I was buying such and how to make a cheap hide box with the coir and all that. So overall I was very happy with the service and how the animals were kept. Ive had the gecko for years now.

Great inventory. Much cheaper to get crickets and meal worms. They have a ton of exotic animals and feeder items for your reptile. Definitely a place I wanna see the "back room". I bet they have even cooler stuff in the back.

It's a husband and wife who own the store and she was so helpful and friendly. When my son and I went in there to look at snakes. Ended up coming back a few days later and buying the snake my son wanted and he hadn't even fully earned it yet. Lol It's the only place I'll go for now on to get anything to do with lizards or snakes. Plus it's pretty much one of the only places around here that sells live feeder mice and rats.

Brian and Emily, the owners, are the best! They have always been so kind and informative on how to care for our lizards! I have gotten 2 adorable leopard geckos and now a bearded dragon from them for my son and they are all doing well. Each time I go in the shop, their employees have been very helpful as well.I find it odd that people on here think a pet store won't have a smell. Ever go in to an indoor exhibit at the zoo? Now that's memorable and I haven't been to the zoo in a few years. But I'm over here trying to remember if there was a bad smell and I was there today and honestly can't say I remember it smelling bad at all. But even if it did I wouldn't think anything of it. Keep doing an amazing job Brian and Emily! I can tell you have a heart for people and animals.

Very decent variety of animals and critters . A wide selection of accessories and live food for reptiles . Unfortunately prices seem a little above the normal . Maybe one of numbered shops in the near neighborhood. The staff at the place was very friendly and helpful with our questions .

Awesome staff! They take their time with each customer. You won't feel rushed out the door! They educate you and answer questions and concerns you may have. They don't try pushing you to buy products witch I love! If you think you need something and you don't, They give you the best advice and alternatives. Honest great people. My go to place for my lizard stuff. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable with a couple of fun facts about the history of the shop. The smell is not as bad as people place even with the mask on. If the smell is a problem then obviously this isn't the shop for you.Definitely recommend this shop, for anyone looking for better food for their pet, looking for a new companion, or switching up for healthier product for your feeders.

Gills and thrills is an excellent store if you're looking for specific products for different species of snakes turtles lizards etc. They're always well stocked with anything you need for your pet. Any question you have they seem well educated on giving you the correct answer. Gills and thrills is a small business worth supporting.

Had a good first experience with Gills and Thrills. Brian and his employees know their stuff and have a wide range of animals available, from lizards to snakes, to fish, to Tarantulas, to even scorpions and centipedes, you name it, they got it (or will order the animal for you). Prices seemed reasonable, and they also have a wide variety of feeders. It may be 40 minutes away from me, and smell a bit, but I would love to come here more often and do business with them!
