3 weeks ago, our grey suffered from what we think was an aneurysm. His twisted body and blown pupil put him into a state of shock for 2 plus miserable hours until the vet opened. I called right at 8, spoke with Brenda, and she explained the vets couldn't make house visits due to insurance. I get it. She provided a service to come to our home to euthanize but they couldn't come for another 2 days. 15 minutes and 30 feet later, we managed to get Indy into the van. En route, we called the vet back letting them know we were headed in. Speaking with a different person, we caught her up to what had happened. She PUT US ON HOLD! She came back and with "a tone" said, "You can come on in but we'll have to charge you $75 because you don't have an appointment." Apparently, our dog needed to die in an appointment time. We showed up and there was NO ONE WAITING TO HAVE THEIR PET SEEN BY ANY DOCTOR. We left 15 minutes later and still no one. The money wasn't the issue. The disconnect of relationship with clients has increasingly affected what we used to call our favorite vet. After calmly stating what happened to a desk admin 3 weeks later, no one cared to follow up...which speaks volumes.

About three weeks ago, my husband told me I needed to get rid of the dog after he bit a visitor to our home. Against my will, I contacted every shelter and rescue nearby and asked for advice, help…anything. Most places ignored me. I finally talked with a rescue owner that gave me some hope. She spent over an hour with us (free of charge) and suggested that due to Rizzo’s fear/ anxiety we should ask a vet about medication. So I called Kankakee Animal Hospital and told them my concerns. When we came for our appointment I had to bring Rizzo in the back door, with me and my adult son holding on to him. Dr. Lisa Moeller saw Rizzo and gave him his vaccines while 3 of us held him down. . When I mentioned the medication for anxiety, she brushed me off and basically shooed me out the door. I asked the receptionist and she went back and asked the Dr about the medication. She came back and told me that the doctor did not feel comfortable prescribing anything. The fact that she refused to talk to me about it, ask me what I had already tried, or anything at all was extremely disappointing. She just didn’t seem to care at all. I will not be seeing her again and I recommend that anyone who goes to Kankakee Animal Hospital should ask for Dr. Joe.

Love love love this vet office! We have been going here for 8 years! My doggie just had to have an emergency surgery done this week and they got her right in and did an amazing job. She’s back home and perked up! Everyone was extremely nice and compassionate and made sure I was informed and that I could call any time to get updates. Affordable as well. Thankful for them!

My first visit with my first pet and I can tell that they absolutely love what they do and love animals. My little baby girl had a blast with the front desk and the veterinarian was so welcoming and gentle and patient with me. Top it off it was affordable. Wellness check was only $40. So far I've found my baby her doctor. If anything changes I'll update but this is a great place to bring your pet

Whoever is the overworked person at the desk is unprofessional and rude. We rushed our dog in just before closing as he was extremely ill. The lady at the desk told my husband they couldn’t see him because they were behind and they closed at 5, but could make an appointment 4 days later. Our little dog died that evening. It breaks my heart that this hospital has changed so much since we first took him and our other dogs there in 2008 when they would have stayed an extra 15 minutes to try and save his life.

We switched vets back in September after our dog's underlying issue was not addressed. Our first appointment with Dr. Joe was fantastic! He explained the issue and gave us the option of an allergy shot...we had never been given that option by our previous vet. He is down to earth and really cares about the animals...not just the money.

Had to take our long time companion in for one of the most difficult things a pet owner has to deal with. Dr. Joe was very understanding and empathetic in understanding the difficult decision before us. He presented options in a non-judgmental, professional, and supportive manner. When our decision was made several members of the support staff were involved and all were top-notch, caring, professionals. Many thanks to all! Also, as folks continue to embrace the "fur-baby" movement I was impressed by the community clinic feel to the hospital and the focus on customer service and dedication to caring for all!
