We moved far away from the area of our previous dog groomer, so we needed to find a budget-friendly, nearby dog boarding and grooming business. A lot of places in the Plainfield area were booked for the holiday weekend I needed short-notice availability for. Honestly, the negative reviews made me uneasy, but I needed boarding because I was going to be out of town. Yes, the place smells just slightly more than others. The space itself could use some remodeling. And the clerk answering the phone didn't seem very knowledgeable. With all that being said, I still can confidently write that I had a positive experience. My trip was cut short, and they accommodated my sooner pickup date. My dog's beautiful coat was groomed and washed reasonably well. My dog did not seem scarred from his stay. I will definitely give them another go, and I recommend you do as well.

The girl on Thursday did an amazing job handling my dog. He has only three legs and she kept him calm and relaxed when she cut his nails. I was in and out no problem. You can tell she was working on trying to get stuff cleaned up and organized and had the lobby smelling fine for a kennel.

Don’t make the mistake I did. Read the reviews before booking. My first impression was not good. The place smells awful!!! It’s Not clean or organized. The owner was nice, but I got weird vibes from her. I didn’t trust my baby being handled by her or her employee. After I handed her my 1 year old nervous pup for a bath, who has very minimal grooming experience, I went to my car and read the reviews. I ran inside and told her to not even bother with the rest of the service. Just give him a bath and I’ll take him home wet. My nervous puppy smells better and is home safe. Always trust your gut and be careful who you book your fur babies with because you never know what happens behind closed doors.

The place I was going to leave my dog was booked up so I thought I’d try Karen’s, being close to our house. The place smelled bad and I wanted to leave but felt I didn’t have much of an option, we had to leave to go out of town. I came back the next day to pick up my dog and he was shaking. Who knows what they did or didn’t do, he was traumatized. We left that place so fast. I don’t understand why they haven’t shut it down, or at least have them clean it up. It’s small, dirty, smells really bad, and they have puppies outside in the back walking around in the heat and poop everywhere. Never again!

Based on the condition my baby was in she was shaved down low, which I understand. Her ears weren't even probably because she moved. Had a couple of nicks but nothing serious. My dog is very anxious so none of this surprised me. From the phone call to make the appointment, then bringing her in very polite, caring and attentive to my babies needs. The only downside was the smell. It was organized and clean. I know there's a dog daycare there and it was early so they were probably in the process of cleaning up. Overall I had a great experience and will be coming back.

Brought my dog in for his first grooming I told them on the phone he’s still scared around people and he will be a handful he’s only one years old. They said it’s fine and they will take care of him. They only cut one of his ears to length he had a paw bleeding from the clippers his tail wasn’t cut in certain spots and you can see spots where they missed hair in his sides and stomach. I took into account that he might of been hard to handle but if that was the case I could of came in and helped calm him down or if it was to much to handle they should of called and told me. He was super scared and nervous and hiding when I got there and when I was there she yelled at him pretty aggressively to get out of the cage which I then put her in her place and reminded her that he’s a puppy and you don’t ever yell at my dog that way. I’d stay away from this groomer I wish I didn’t waste my $70 to get a cut done.

This was my puppies first haircut I specifically stated I wanted a light trim getting the hair off his face round head just making him look like a teddy bear again and when I picked him up he was completely shaved I was so upset!!!

I tried karens for the first time as it was closer to home than my previous groomer. They were also able to get me in much sooner than other shops. (Now I know why) I dropped two 6 pounds dogs for puppy cuts and my dogs came out all shaved down. When I walked in to pick them up I could see Karen in the back with a black and white dog that was less than 10 pounds suspended by his the pits of his front legs. Wearing a muzzle and whimpering. This dog was dangling with back paws not touching and she would push him back over the table if he would swing past the edge. I left immediately as I thought I was going to lose my temper and force my way Bac there to grab the dog. I hopeh nobody who cares about their dogs brings them into this smelly place to get treated this way for a ugly hair cut

I have used Karen's multiple times now, and every time has been a breeze. I've been accommodated both in short notice visits, and also when I've given ample notice of my boarding needs. The price for boarding is only $20 per day, comes with free bath, grooming is extra. You can bring your own food, or they can supply it for you. The staff is very pleasant, and quickly acclimate to your pet.

Based on the reviews I was a little worried about bringing my dog here for boarding. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I also had them do a groom on her for the homecoming day of our vacation. She is a Border Collie mix so she has a ton of fur! Her fur was cut perfectly and so soft. I checked her over and no wounds or cuts. She had her usual demeanor as well and was happy to see us. Also, the staff made sure and double checked all of her needs and when we would be picking her up. Also, they gave us a call while we were on vacation to verify her pick up date and to let us know she was doing fine. And yes the place does stink like animals when you walk in but it was less when we picked her up. After all they are boarding animals so it is expected. If I need boarding for my dog again I will be coming back. The price was also very low. $60 for the groom and roughly $100 for the week long stay.

Love them! They did an amazing job on my teddy bear dog. They also did a great nail trim with my rat terrier Chihuahua mix. She hated there Dremel and groomers struggle with her boy Karen's didn't have any problems and they were finished in less than 5 minutes. They are also fairly priced.

Prices are fantastic and my pups always come back looking great. She even does well with my Golden, and he's a handful. He's old and doesn't really care what anyone says anymore so managing a haircut is actually kind of impressive. I keep his fur pretty short due to extreme skin sensitivity and have taken him to other groomers and they were not able to complete a haircut so she's definitely doing something right.

I am a reviewer and believe in being ABSOFREAKINLUTELY honest about services rendered. My 8 month old Newfiedoodle is a ball of love and energy. She's had 2 surgeries since her March adoption to correct her chest eye condition. We've visited Pet Smart initially and were not thrilled. After a referral by our very we found our spot. However the last visit in July didn't leave her with the look I had become accustomed too. I'm recovering from a brain injury and tend to forget everything still. I missed her Tuesday appointment and didn't receive my usual reminder. I contact Karen's and was given an appointment for the following day. Thunder is my world and the reason my recovery has been going so well. She had a few spots of matting. I requested a light shave down and informed them of my situation. My baby was upset with me as she's used to being fluffy but I was impressed with her look and not behavior. She's now extremely timid and fussy. She's naked and mad. I will say the initial appearance of the shop left an undesirable feeling in be but I stepped out on faith. I can't state it smelled bad because I have no smell or taste senses since my injury. But visually work can be done. Staff were pleasant, polite and informative. Very pleased ❤️

I brought my cat in for a bath, oral hygiene, and haircut. I wanted him fully shaved and they did a very good job but forgot the tail. I will say that the place has a strong smell as soon as you walk in.

Staff is extremely helpful and you can extend your boarding pick up date if you call ahead. Parents used Karen's and we're always happy with them! Prices are the best in Joliet-- I've called around and most vets or grooming/boarding locations run $35-50/night! Absolutely recommend!!

I have a large German shepherd that I brought back to Karen's pet grooming because of the outstanding job they did on my dog. My dog Gunner looks so good every time he leaves there. I would highly recommended their services. The price and quality of work is great!

I have a rescue rottweiler who has shown sooner mild aggression, and I didn't have him long before bringing him in for a much needed bath.The staff was excellent, they handled his attitude perfectly, and I got a good, clean pup back. Not all groomers know what they are doing with a rescue animal, and I'm glad I took the advice of my girlfriend and brought my new pup to them!

I brought my puppies in for grooming yesterday for the first time. I was pleased she got me in promptly, and my dogs came home and they were absolutely grooming beautifully. I can't say enough nice things about the treatment that I received yesterday from all the staff. I will definitely be back!
