We have found several of our pets with the help of the guys at Midwest Tropical Fish. They have a great selection and are very knowledgeable about their creatures. From fish to snakes, frogs and lizards. They even have fresh water stingrays!! Who has those!?! Not only do they have a vast selection of forever pets, they have food too. They have you covered on tanks and terrariums too. Stop in and check them out. I highly recommend them.

In this day and age why on earth do I need them to contact me so I can “pay by check or bank account number?” All they have to do is setup there website like a normal business. On top of that this place never gets back to you. I waited 3 days and no phone call or email.

Bought a Golden Nugget pleco from here and it got home in great shape, had no sickness, and looks great in my glofish tank. Absolutely love Midwest Tropical Fish Inc.

BEWARE! Mid West Tropical Fish is not a trustworthy business.We ordered two aquariums online. We got an online order confirmation and waited for them to contact us within the next 24 hours for processing the payment, as instructed in the order confirmation. However, nobody reached out to us. When calling Mid West Tropical Fish a couple of days later, a guy named Warren was friendly but pointed out that shipping would cost $80 per aquarium - not $10 as in their order confirmation. But he said that he had sent aquariums to other states before, that it would not be a problem if we were ok with the shipping costs. He had the two aquariums that we ordered in stock. No problem at all for him. We told him we wanted to think about this and would get back to him.When calling back just a couple of minutes later to confirm that we accepted the shipping costs, Warren seemed annoyed, asked for the contact information (that he already had from the online order) and promised to call back for collecting the payment information. He did not. We heard nothing from Warren or anyone from Mid West Tropical Fish again for days.So we called Mid West Tropical Fish again to try to give them the payment information. Over the course of the next days, either no one picked up the phone or we were told we would be called back, which never happened. We also sent them an email and got no response. Then we reached Warren over the phone again, and he was very unfriendly. He said he had only one aquarium left but confirmed again that he would send the aquarium right after he received the payment. He also added that he wanted to send the aquarium to us via UPS, it would be not a problem for him. But he was not willing to collect the payment information right away, he said he would call back in 15 minutes to do so. Again, he did not.We sent Warren an email asking him to get back to us, and again, no response. After a couple of days we reached Warren over the phone again and he put us on hold indefinitely. When trying again after waiting for about 40 minutes in vain, a woman picked up the phone, then we heard Warren telling her in the background that it was the people with the aquariums - and without any further comment she just hung up on us. After we called two more times, they seemed to have blocked our number.All we were trying to do was buying something from Mid West Tropical Fish via their online shop and paying for it!If they are not able to sell us the aquariums, why don't they simply tell us?Warren is not a trustworthy person. Mid West Tropical Fish is not a trustworthy business.Worst shopping experience ever. BEWARE!

This is the only place I will buy fish! Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable and the fish are in much better shape than the big chain stores. Prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend

The owner is very nice and informative! He cares a lot about his stock and was able to tell me exactly where his fish came from! All of his fish were very healthy and tanks were very well maintained! I will definitely be back to buy my stock from him!

Every time I buy fish from this fish store i get a parasite I bought 4 fish from them about a week ago everything seemed fine to I realize only the fish I bought from them has white spots all over them so I am now treating my entire fish tank for a parasite and I know it’s not from my other fish bc we have had our other fish for about a year

Warren, (owner) is awesome! Talk about pride in your work! Super knowledgeable, gave me great advice. Staff were on point. Had everything i been looking for. Great selection of fish, fish food, filters, tanks, reptile supplies. All unbeatable prices. Cant believe I waited so long to go there. Definitely worth the drive. I'll never go back to a Petco for fish or reptile supplies again.

Great warm welcome, the owners are there every day, don't pester you but will assist when asked. There is a big parrot in the shop, amazing mix of fish and all prices on tanks. Great bundle tank, food, fish ex. Sales going on all the time for beginners and I go in there monthly. Always an amazing time, right on the strip of town so easy to find.

Very helpful! I could vaguely tell them about an algae problem my tank was having and they knew what it was right away and how to fix it! Also, set us up with a great filter and showed us how to use it and clean it properly. Will definitely be going back once we have our tank set up! These guys know what they are talking about! I absolutely love this place and the staff. They are all very helpful and friendly. The owner definitely goes above and beyond. They have a great selection of fish and accessories. They also carry stuff for reptiles and have a lot of knowledge on the things they sell and great advice!

5 STARS!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome! Drove 3 hours to come here and am so glad we did. Enormous array of Cichlids. All the fish looked very healthy and active and the tanks were very clean. Warren and Jen you guys rock! Your knowledge is remarkable and you were happy to share it with us. You steared us away from fish that were not compatible with our tanks and saved us from wasting money. Instead if worrying about the sale you focused on what was best for us. Your stock of both fish and supplies is phenomenal. I highly recommend this place and as for myself and my husband.....WE CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!!!!

The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable, all of the tanks appeared to be well cared for with several unique freshwater fish. The prices were very reasonable and better than most St Louis pet shops that I've visited. I recommend this pet shop to freshwater fish enthusiasts and will return myself.

Some what decent selection. The guy who runs it warren is cool. Seems to know his stuff. But did sell me 2 wrong fish. I was new and still am to the African world. He “showed” me how to vent. And then sold me two females. One of which wasn’t even the fish he claimed. I thought it was a decent place.i was wrong. Just a hustler.

The workers are extremely polite and respectful. The store manager Jen knows her stuff when it come to the fish and she was very patient with my daughter and helped her pick out her fish. I highly recommend going to Midwest tropical.👍👍

We previously got our fish at PetCo and PetSmart. (Thats bad, I know🙃) we came here after we got a new tank set up and couldn't have had a better experience. They were SO nice and knowledgeable. They had a bird that screamed at the kids (super funny) and they answered every question we had. Definitely the only place I will go from now on

I was recently forced to lower my rating for this fish store. I purchased fish for 3 separate aquariums. They started to die off one by one. We had two recently started 6gal aquariums that only contained fish from here. When those fish started to die we just assumed that something wasn’t correct with the new tanks. The other fish however were added to a large well established 150 gal aquarium. The fish we added started to die off and more devastating started to kill everything in our largest established 150. We have now lost all our fish. Down to the last sucker fish. If your a gambler then good luck with this place.
