I've been looking to adopt a cat for a while now. My parents adopted 2 cats from here, and highly recommended the facility. The staff I dealt with was very kind, and knowledgeable about the cats I had questions about. The cats were in open concept areas, and some were in cages (seemingly the ones who needed more medical attention) but all were clearly well cared for. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to adopt a cat OR dog, they just don't keep dogs on site.

Got two kittens from iCare 3 years ago. Super healthy, well adjusted, socialized and friendly. These were my first cats, I had tons of questions and the staff at ICare were always super helpful, friendly and accommodating. Amazing people that donate their time and energy to help animals for zero pay. I wish I was that good of a person. Dedicated people, unpaid, (I believe it is 100% charity) in a stressful job. Thanks for all your help and support Margaret and Faith! I love my babies!

I volunteer at ICARe & also have adopted two kitties from them. I so enjoy being part of what ICARe strives to do... saving cats & dogs & finding them the best family possible. My 2 kittens Sweetness on left Precious on right... so glad ICARe brought these 2 into my life!!!

i got my kitty sam here like forever ago and he’s so healthy and he’s sooooo nice and cuddly he always wants to cuddle with me and he also knows how to give me high fives sometimes if he feels like it because he’s so smart and great anyways here some pics bcs everyone should see how adorable he is

They rescue cats from all over the world, last cat was from Jordan the middle east she had pyometra and they did everything they can to rescue her. very great organization and amazing people.

I called them and was so happy to learn that they would take in 3 baby hamsters that we could no longer care for. I hope that they are able to find some good people willing to care for and love a baby hamster. I just dropped them of this evening and they are about 4 weeks old and eating and drinking on their own. Give them a call if you would be interested in adopting one of these cuties!

I absolutely LOVE ICare!!! I adopted my beautiful Diana from this wonderful shelter and she's our sweet baby! All cats/kittens from the shelter are already spayed or neutered and micro-chipped. Up-to-date on shots, along with many more wonderful services offered, which made it easy to pick up our little Diana and bring her straight home, knowing she was healthy and up-to-date. The staff is very professional and extremely supportive! They care about every little fur baby in their care and it shows. I truly recommend ICare!

We have adopted several cats from them and each experience has been amazing. Wonderful people and great cats and kittens. They do a fabulous job at caring for each and every one. The make sure to separate any sick animals from the rest until they are completely vetted and ready to be adopted. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Got some of my kitties fixed here! They were so polite and friendly. The kitties are well taken care of (and there are plenty that need homes!!) Awful uncaring people, after begging them for a month to come get this little guy, animal control came and got him,took him to Icare where he died.If you need help call Iroquois County Animal Control,despite the rumors they do not kill animals.

We have adopted pets from many places over the years, but this one is one of our very favorite. We've kept in touch with them for years and they are our friends, We've never seen people work, consistently, as hard as they do, year after year, to rescue and take care of pets that are desperately in need of help, while most of the time working with very little money to operate. They NEVER give up. We love these people!

We have taken sick and pregnant stray cats to ICAR and the staff there have always been pleasant and more than willing to help with whatever the cats needed. They have always taken time to answer any questions we had about our cats and dogs. When we were looking for a companion for our dog they helped us find the perfect guy to join our family. We have gone to other rescues and prefer ICAR BY FAR.

This is a very good animal rescue. The folks here do a really good job of caring for the animals at their facility. And they offer cheap spay and neuter for kitties, that is really nice. I just had a little female spayed there last week, and she is doing very well!

Giving 5 stars only because 6 aren't available! We just adopted 2 Beagles and the time Margaret spent answering all of our questions and concerns as well as asking us all of her questions and concerns was amazing. The level of concern regarding the animal's health and happiness is apparent immediately. Just wish this level of care for the animals were the norm instead of the exception. They should be the standard for shelter care in the country not just Iroquois county. You guys are so lucky to have this facility that close, make a donation today.

The animals in the care of the Iroquois County Animal Rescue are very well taken care of in the amazing facilities provided the cats and dogs.The volunteers go out of their way to keep those animals comfortable until they can be adopted. I highly recommend this place is clean and friendly. They worked with me to have my cats spayed and neutered years ago and did a great job. And I also buy all my flea medication from them and will continue to go there. It works!

My life is forever changed since adopting 2 cats from ICARe. We adopted Yoshimi almost 7 years ago. She is so very special and adored by everyone who is lucky enough to meet her (she is quite shy). Initially, I was worried about how she would get on with my current cat. The shelter director took time to strategize and suggest some ways to help the transition (Feliway works miracles!). Her guidance showed her love of the animals and desire to make sure they are happy in their homes. And when we (well, me; the spouse not as much) were ready for another cat, we chose to adopt from ICARe. We were a bit specific about the kind of cat we wanted (affectionate and young) and they did their best to help suggest who would be our best match. And when I changed my mind, and chose a different one, they were so great about it. This most recent ICARe cat is one of a kind - completely fearless and also not so very smart. Together, she is all purrsonality. And because of her wacky antics, she is a mascot of our neighborhood cat club FB group. We check in with ICARe with occasional updates, and they are grateful to learn how their ICARe alum are doing. I cannot recommend a better shelter to adopt a bet from, as they are caring and work so very hard to make sure their pets are adopted into great furever homes.

This shelter not only took my lil guy in when he was left abandoned for the winter over 5 years ago...but the fed him...kept him safe...and spent countless amounts of money keeping him healthy which meant one day him n I would be able to meet! Thumbs is a special needs kitty. He was left abandoned with fiv and stomatitis. That is a hard kitty to place because it can mean expensive vet bills, etc. He could have lived out his days in the shelter, warm and fed... Thankfully, I found him posted on Pet Finder and fell in love... he is my first cat ever, and the shelter let me foster to adopt because of his special needs. They even drove 2 hours to my home in Chicago to give him medications. They supported me every day with every question I had when he had a flair up until I got the hang of it. I officially adopted him, and this fur butt is my best friend. I am so very grateful for this shelter. They are truly the best ...

i adopted two wonderful cats and not even two weeks later find out they have fleas and one of them has an ear infection. they do not go outside, or around other animals. i would bring a flea comb and check them throughly if you plan on adopting from this shelter.the only reason im even giving this place two stars is because of how great these cats are. if i were to adopt another cat, id definitely go elsewhere.

We adopted our cat Skipper from ICARe over 13 years ago. We had a great experience with the staff and the process was easy. We returned to ICARe when we were ready to add another pet to our home.

I went to the pet food pantry. It was nice and clean. They had a nice selection of food and treats. I went into the rescue to get flea and worm meds for my pup. There is a very strong cat odor when you go inside. Even with a mask on it was overwhelming. Their prices on the meds was very good.

Unfortunately we haven't had the best experience with ICare! Back last spring we adopted a beautiful energetic Pit Mix 9mth old puppy named Friday! It was such an unfortunate situation....Friday was super aggressive towards our baby at the time, Friday actually tried to pull our child out of her bed while she was sleeping! My husband and I very quickly made the decision that Friday was not going to work in our home due to her aggressive behavior towards our child!! We had been told by ICare that we couldn't have our adoption fee back (that was not an issue) but that we could wait for the right dog to come along! We had stressed to them we would prefer a puppy so they could grow with our expanding family! Well we attempted to adopt another dog from them (2nd attempt) and we where told the dog wasnt going to be good for us....okay so over a year latter we have been patiently waiting....well they had these adorable lab puppies that were abandoned at there door! We jumped at the opportunity to finally have the dog we have been waiting for....we unfortunately got the run around....finally after several attempts to find out if we got approved we again where turned down because "the lab puppy isnt whats going to work best for your family", "an older established dog is what we feel would be best"!! Yeah......No! We have sadly been heartbroken waiting to see if one of the sweet lab pups would be apart of our family instead we get told no......My husband and I have decided to take our search and wait to another great shelter....hoping to eventually meet the new member of our family!!

Filled out an application to adopt a dog right after he was posted. Was initially denied, but they kept asking questions and wanted additional information. We went above and beyond to prove he would have a great, loving home only to be ignored when trying to call and not contacted to let us know someone else got him. They just made me lose all faith in shelters. Do not waste your time,
