I have never in my life seen the variety of fish and the number of fish tanks that this store has to offer!Half of the store is dedicated to “pets” such as parakeets, parrots, turtles, rabbits, hamsters, mice etc.The other half has possibly 60-70 various size tanks full of a huge array of fish, corals, plants etc.The fish area is in a darkener section of the store which really brings out the beauty of the fish.Other stores might have five different types of fish in one tank but not here. Every type of fish seems to be only with its own kind.The display tanks go from 10 gallon up to huge tanks with fish that are a 12 inches.If you’re looking to upgrade your tank or just stock it with healthy fish, this is the place to shop at.

Great selection of fish, prices are extremely excessive, and service is terrible due to lack of staff. Almost 20 minutes spent just trying to get someone to assist in purchasing fish. Should reconsider their business plan because this was just awful experience

Nice selection, particularly their African cichlids section and livebearer variety. I like shopping their plants. The lifetime membership is worth it if you’ll be shopping here primarily or have multiple tanks and plan to be in the hobby a while. If not, they’re a bit pricey, but I’ve not bought anything unhealthy from them.

I am so so happy that my friend referred me here for help with my fish tank. I went on vacation and returned to an extremely green and foggy tank. My fish are like my babies lol So I was so sad and concerned..when I got to the store the associate knew exactly what I needed for my tank. It was an over growth of algae for leaving my light on! He was able to explain how I use the product and the warning of "overuse" that could kill my fish. So I took it very seriously. Here is before and after pictures. We are a week from when I started the algae killer, and my fish are safe and my tank is almost back to full health.Thank you aquarium adventure!!

Kids love coming here to see the animals, they're so soft and ok with being handled. Decent fish stock except for bettas, they look tiny and sickly. Not sure if they breed them there and that's why they're smaller? But they're still kept in small containers. What I come for is the plants and wood stock though. Haven't seen a variety or stock offered at any other fish store other than driving to Milwaukee.

The Blondie lady new manager she took Jasmine position. She just have very bad attitude. I spend 1000s on this store when I try to buy a fish she told me we cannot promise to give you this fish because it’s hard to catch it … (what can executors is that? )… You cannot even catch the fish while you’re working on this store but I ask her I need pacifically this fish and cheeky answers the same way same attitude. This is just bad for this store. They need to look into it for the new teenagers workers. I hope they will find better workers and better idea to treat the customer by the way, I’m very old customer for the store but I guess they don’t care 😡😡😡👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Dylan was helpful and courteous. He shared his knowledge of how to improve the quality of life for my fish and my aquatic plants. His advice clearly came from a deep rooted passion for aquatic life.

I have been to a lot of fish stores. This one is the best I've ever been to. There are so many fish here and so many display tanks. Plenty of options for hardscape. They also have so many plants. It is my favorite store in the Chicago area. I will definitely come back and buy more plants and check out their fish. If you can make it to the store I would check it out.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I had a flourishing saltwater tank with 4 healthy fish from Petco. My fish were getting along perfectly and the tank was going smoothly. Aquarium Adventure was having a 40% off sale so I thought it was a good time to purchase a fish from them. I got a Tang that seemed to be a little strange but the worker assured me he was in perfect health. After 2 days of having him, he gave my entire fish tank the Ich. And then he died from the ich on the third day of getting him. I was left with no tang and 4 sick fish. My theory is that Aquarium Adventure knew they had infected tanks and fish and that’s why they were having that sale to try and get rid of the infected fish. One of my clownfish unfortunately passed from the ich that this store had given my tank. I am absolutely outraged and saddened by this. I will never be buying a fish from this store again and I advise that you don’t too. Extremely disappointed and upset.

So much fun things for kids to look at! Everything is very clean and customer service is always friendly. They have a huge variety of fish all sizes. From beginner to expert. Lots of small reptiles and tarantulas also.

Staff were very helpful about making sure we had the right accommodations before we bought anything! I really appreciate that they don't just try to sell pets off to any family with money, regardless of whether they will take good care.Also loved playing with the birds!

A bit pricey when fish are not on sale. Also they should quarantine fish before they sell them. I bought 5 platties and only 3 of them lived till the end of the week. I think their dead fish return policy only goes till 48 hours.

All of these fish are either sick, or dead. I am disgusted at the lack of care this place has for these fish. It is truly sad to come to these places and see these beautiful creatures who were either plucked from their natural habitat, or were born into this environment are not treated well. All lives are precious, but not here I suppose. Also, the dogs they have here were closed in a small cage, desperate to be played with, or even just pet for a minute. Instead, however, they lie in their own feces, looking like the dogs in those ASPCA commercials. I walked into this store open minded, and left depressed.

Not what it used to be.I have been buying fish for about a year and I've had a decent amount of problems with the fish I have bought for the last couple months. I bought fish tonight and one was dead before I got home. Also I was supposed to get 2 big Cory's and not what I got. The big one is beat up and hopefully he makes it. I'm not returning the dead cardinal tetra because of gas prices. By the time I drive all the way back it would cost me more. Also there was a sick or dead fish in almost every tank.

Great selection, very helpful and knowledgeable employees. I was helped by a guy named Brian. He was super helpful and a very nice person.Prices on accessories decor are a little high, but sales are usually really good! The only thing was people just go ahead and stick their hands in the plant tanks… but Brian was helping me and he sternly asked her not to do that which she acted like she didn’t hear of course but stopped lol 😆 Thanks for all your help Brian!! My fish and plants are doing awesome!I would recommend.

Disappointed. Went to look at saltwater selection while I was in town. Freshwater side looks nice and have a lot of fish to choose from. They do have a large variety of saltwater fish too but prices were way to high and the tanks were not well maintained (poor fish). They have almost no coral selection.

We have been shopping at this pet slash aquarium store since it first opened. They do have a great selection of salt water animals for the beginner reef tank enthusiast. I dont do fresh water tanks but the selection for that is huge as well. Its really a fun place to take the kids, you could spend hours there between the two sides. I personally have a problem with all the puppies as there are so many shelter dogs that need homes.We got all the supplies to make a sweet hermit crab tank with a few crabs that we bought from there.They have a large selection of almost everything.

This store has everything you would need in your fish hobby except decent customer service. If you know what you want and where to look for it. This can be a great place for your, however if you are either new to the hobby of fishkeeping or just need help. Save yourself some headache and go anywhere else heck go to Petco across the street and you might get more help there. (keyword: might!). I have given this store several chances but yesterday was the straw which broke the camel's back. I had stepped in to purchase a larger aquarium. and given my past history of this place wasn't expecting anyone to help me. I was there with my family and measuring the aquarium when all I heard was "Sir We are closing in a minute" no can I help you or what is it that you require. just a simple dude you got a minute left. I told this individual that I was in market for a 240 gallon tank. A 240 GALLON TANK!! and their response was the largest we carry is 210 and we are currently out of it. I called it quits at this time and left with my family. Sorry guys I guess I will spend my few thousands of dollars some place else.

I LOVE this place!!! Great selection of fish, both Saltwater and Freshwater. Also, one of the best selections of aquatic plants, already submerged. And if that was not enough, very nice supply of aquariums for sale with everything you will need to get your new aquarium up and running.

So I am a little mixed. On the one hand I did leave with a few fish for my tank but not really the fishes I wanted. I wanted to buy three neon tetras for my fish tank as I already have three neons and wanted to maintain a school to ensure they wont get stressed, but due to me having a baby turtle in my tank, I wasn't allowed to and could only buy feeder guppies. I understand the health of the fishes and such and knowing that a few may get eaten. However, neon tetras are one of the few fishes that can be kept with turtles due to their small size, temp requirements, and being safe for consumption should my turtle decide he wants a snack. I usually try to stay away from feeder fish because they aren't kept in good conditions and I am somewhat afraid that my turtle will get sick as a result. Since I was sold in the past feeder minnows(Rosy Reds) which I found out weren't safe for turtle consumption. So I took a risk and luckily the feeder guppies seem to be safe (Although I had a few baby stowaways which I am not complaining about haha). I am not sure if there is a law on this or something but I thought it was worth noting as I am assuming this is the store policy. I just want to put it out there since it isn't uncommon to keep fancy guppies, danios, or tetras with turtles. I probably will be back though since the service was good and a great selection of beautiful well kept fishies.

Usually my go to store for supplies, dont even carry my filter pads anymore and didn't have any sand in stock for freshwater water tanks , they have unboxed boxes all over the place just a complete mess i guess ill hahe to find a new location employees there and no help anymore either wish it was the same as it was 5 years ago

Tiffany was extremely helpful in answering a whole lot of newbie questions. She also gave plenty of advice based on personal experience and her suggestions for stocking really showed how much she knows about each species. Left feeling inspired. One of my top retail experiences as a customer!Oh, and their plant variety is awesome.
