The worst Petco I’ve ever visited. Fish tanks are absolutely filthy, the whole saltwater section wasn’t even working; all tanks had algae blooms and it smelt horrible with numerous tank filters covered in dead fish. Their turtle tank had a blue film on the top due to the filter not working. All of the bettas/live plant cups were disgusting, most of the plants were either dead or covered in mold. Ferrets were sleeping in their own feces, flies were everywhere, and they smelt awful (worse than their typical smell). One of their surrendered cockatiels was clearly unwell but there was no sign depicting it. In their reptile section one of their tarantulas was dead (no, it was not a molt) and the snakes/chameleons all had stuck shed and were clearly underfed and dehydrated. The cats were living in filth, cat sand and food was everywhere and it smelt like pee and poop. They were sweethearts though. The small animal section was really the only “normal” area considering how awful the care for the other animals is. Looks like they had decent bedding and food and seemed healthy-ish. I mentioned the fish tanks to staff and they didn’t seem to care considering the salt water tanks are the first thing you see when walking in. Please do something about this, you’re promoting animal abuse.

Everything was FILTHY. The cats for adoption were living in filth, the fish tanks are covered in algae. Poor ferrets playing in their own feces. So sad.

Have been bringing my dog here for nail trims. On the last visit he was injured, no one told me. When they gave him back to me I could tell something was wrong as he didn't want to walk and refused to jump as he usually does back in my car. By that evening he lost function of his back legs. The vet diagnosed a pinched nerve. We called Petco to report this and ask for an investigation and our complaints were dismissed. I called again a week later and finally spoke to the groomer Armando to ask what happened. He admitted to pulling on my dogs legs to get the right angle. This should never be done. You don't pull, you get help. We asked for a manager and the manager was dismissive saying that we waited a week, even though this was the second call. They're pulling on dogs legs which can easily lead to injuries. Our dog was hurt while in their care and he may never fully recover.

Very poor customer service. As a new dog owner I was excited about purchasing some items for my new puppy. But these two ladies at this location were just rude and didn't care. My first and last time shopping at petco. 1/24/24 5:30PM

The ferrets cage was literally filthy and filled with flies. I asked one employee and she said they clean is once again and that they’re “messy animals”. I asked another employee and she seemed annoyed that I was bringing it up again. In the pictures you can see the pile of feces in the corner as well as one of the multiple flies inside of the cage with the animal. I’ve been coming to this store since it opened i’ve never seen a cage like that left in that condition.

This is the worst Petco I have ever been in. I’m not sure if they are understaffed or everyone takes a break at the same time because the staff is hard to find. When you check out you have to wait for the groomers to call someone to ring you up. I understand that the groomers have dogs to attend to but when you ask them to page someone for you or have a question about a product they give you attitude. The shelves are dusty and they have expired products. The first time I found expired dog food on the shelves I bought it to manger Monica’s attention. This last time I went in which was in November I found a whole tray of expired dog food which had expired in March/ April. Almost a year old expired. This is unacceptable! I personally have stop going to this location but if you do shop here make sure to check the expiration date on the products.

I just spoke with Angelica and she provided wonderful customer service over the phone. I was nervous on what to expect for my and my puppy's 1st visit to the vet and I felt so much more at ease after speaking with her. If I could do ZERO I would!!! Worst customer service. If it is not one thing with management it is another. I arrived 12 mins early to drop off my two dogs for their 10am appt because they always drag to check in and making me late and now apparently they can’t check in pets until groomer arrives for their shift. What kind of obscured policy is that?!! I pleaded to please work with me as I needed to get to work and I couldn’t wait 10-15 mins after 10am to check them in, they see me struggling with two dogs, and my toddler not even then would the grooming manager make an exception. You’d think if I’m bringing in my two dogs it would mean that they have space to place them in, right?!?

I was there to find a couple of stuff for my fish and lizards and Elizabeth was the perfect assistant for my needs never have I been provided with excellent customer service very knowledgeable person! Last but not least she informed me with top notch advice for my pets I would be coming here from now and not go anywhere else because of her! Petco better keep her for a long time at that hillside location and would be recommending my family and neighbors to that location and Elizabeth as well

I will be looking for another Petco or go to a petsmart even if this one is the closes to me. I want to update my review from a 5 🌟 to 1 because I have been taking my doggie here since he was a baby he is about to be 6 and now I have a 2nd doggie and don't want my fur babies to be treated in a bad way. The people there used to be so happy and friendly but now all the people working there are rude and miserable every time I take them to get groomed the manager is so rude and never helpful last time I was there she disregarded me when I asked her a question and ignored me this time she was rude because I was early she always has a bad attitude and a stink face if you dont like your job get another one. There is a way to talk to people and if you dont know how to be a give someone good service then you should not be a manager as you should lead by example. There is a new kid that was super rude and even though was wrong about what I told him he never apologized. My dog is only 4 pounds and one guy last time tried to put the blue leash around his neck and pulled him hard when he could just had picked him up. I had to stop him and tell him not to treat him like that as he is very little I picked him up and handed him to him he never apologized gave me a dirty look and took him to get groomed I had to watch him because I was afraid he would hurt him just because I said something to him. Not happy with this neighborhood Petco and is sad to see rude people working there with no customer service training.

I came here to pick up a Doordash order. The place and employees were generally really nice, but the manager was pretty rude and condescending towards me when trying to pick up the items. He scolded me while on the phone for picking them up without his approval when an employee told me to do so. Yikes.

They get the job done but my reservation some how got canceled and my baby had to wait their 5 hours before she could get groomed. A discount or free upgrade would have been nice seeing how I had the confirmation text message in my phone.

I tried to return a defective item, with receipt. The manager refused the return and was rude. I purchased a replacement item, which was on sale. The clerk rang it up at full price. It was only after I said something that he lowered the price to the correct sale price.

I have had numerous visits at this location and not once did I feel ignored or leaving upset. Management and employees are very friendly, understanding and they do listen.The place is clean and organized I just wish they a broader range of fresh-water fish, seems to small for the size of the location.

Petco as a whole has really gone downhill but especially incompetent is the Hillside location!! Staff are unhelpful and sometimes downright rude. Their vetco staff overcharge and make you feel as though everything they try to shove at you is a must have! Double sold us simparica and charged $47 a pill when their website lists for $29 or 3 month supply for $61! Take your pet anywhere but here if you want actual care!!

Giving 5 stars because I went to this Petco first time and the employee Angelica was amazing. Bought my first tank but not sure what fish or supplies to buy and she had a lot of knowledge on all the fish types name tropical or fresh water, and even what products based on the fish..
