First time here! I have driven by so many times and have finally decided to try them out! The food was excellent! Chicken breast dinner Grecian style. Cheese pizza! The atmosphere was very interesting! Mostly an older crowd, whi I didn't mind at all. Nice bar and dining area! Somewhat old-fashioned butr that makes it interesting. I like the food! Service was decent!

My experience at this restaurant was great. The food was delicious and filling. The staff was friendly and provided quick service. The atmosphere was unique and added to the experience. In summary, I would recommend going here if you want a quick, fair priced, and filling meal for the night.

Fantastic, old school spot for a fabulous meal. I've been going here since I was a kid and nothing has changed. They have a warm and comfy dining room on one side with tables and big deep booths, and on the other side is a lively 360° oval bar with booths and tables around the perimeter, great bartenders, and you can get full meal service at the bar with a full place setting. Prices are reasonable, the food is all good / consistent, they make a wonderful hamburger on dark rye, ribs are amazing, and it's kid friendly!

So incredibly delicious! Our water was always full and empty dishes were removed exceptionally promptly!! Only complaint would be that there is only one room open, and we were seated right next to a bar where people were watching football (with all the normal drunkenness and yelling). Not a bad thing, but not really the nice dinner vibe we expected. We'll be back though!!

VERY thin Chicago style tavern pizza! Quality ingredients. Homemade bread starter is warm and delicious. All the food had generous portions at reasonable prices. The ribs are slightly "tug off the bone" style and the shrimp were some of the largest I've seen in a shrimp Dejonge dish. The Moneybags with tomato cream sauce is a must. Busy place with a good vibe!

With other restaurants in the North Shore (Chicago) being packed, our friends wanted to go to Nite N'Gale. Although my husband & I both dislike this eatery, we reluctantly agreed. The restaurant seemingly has not been updated in decades...I do believe their clientele likes it that way. Our waitress ranked between non-existent, surly & wanting to be anywhere else. A table of about 6-8 50-something-old men boomed their way thru their meal, seated directly behind our table, making it seriously difficult for us to converse. Food seemed okay. The two men split a large sausage pizza and deemed it good. The other woman had a skirt steak sandwich. I ordered pike with a side salad & a baked potato. It tasted ok. Well, unfortunately, by the time we got home, 10 minutes from the restaurant, I was violently ill and couldn't leave the bathroom for 1 1/2 day. (No need to be graphic).MY HUSBAND & I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN NITE N' GALE AGAIN...EVER!

If you like retro atmosphere and good food, Nite N Gale is for you. Our first visit, but not our last.The restaurant was full and staff were hustling. Took a few minutes for our server to get to us because of the crowd, but once he was there things moved fast. He was pleasant and efficient.My side salad was just head lettuce and a few veggies but everything was fresh and crisp. The thin crust pizza was excellent and came out quickly. My wife and I really enjoyed the home made key lime pie.My only disappointment is that I didn't get to Nite N Gale sooner despite living in the area for years. My bad! I'll be back soon. There are many things on the menu I'd like to try.Parking: Large free parking lot.

Parked in the parking lot to go to dinner and a parking attendant ran up and assumed we shouldn't be parking there. The encounter was so rude that we left to eat somewhere else.

Pork chops were perfectly delicious as well as everything else my party of four ordered.However, the waiter was a bit curt and short with us until the end of our visit when he presented the bill and was all smiles. There is no excuse for that, buddy .We usually tip 30% but gave 20% and debated giving much less.We, of course, will return as this is a lovely restaurant, but it is disappointing that a rude waiter tarnished what otherwise was a nice nite out.

I've always liked Nite 'n' Gale not only because they have good food (some of the bar food can be a little much for the calorie conscious, but why are you ordering french fries, then?), but the atmosphere reminds me of a lot of places my family used to go, when I was a kid. It may be a bit dated, BB it it's really comfy. The cook seems to know what 'rare' means, when you order the steak sandwich (highly advised, btb), and the bartender is REALLY not afraid of the booze, either. You have been warned.Between all of that and the super friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff, this is a great local option for a tasty dinner, as quick or as slow as you please. Also, before I forget, their pizza is amazing. The only problem I can find with it is it needs to be much larger! 😉

In general, I like Nite N’ Gale. Most food is very good. But stay away from the bbq ribs. I ordered them they were beyond horrible! Tough, dry, meatless. Priced at $36.00 have a pasta or chicken dish. Very disappointed could not even cut them. The servers are all nice I’m not knocking the whole restaurant just the ribs.

A great old style supper club in the heart of Highwood. Excellent service and food, reasonable prices. We had the tenderloin triple fillets, 3 little tenderloins that added up to quite a bit of super tender meat topped with cheese, and the scallops, big flavorful deep fried ones. Lots of old favorites on the menu. Other highlights: the little loaves of bread, and mozzarella sticks. Side salads were in traditional supper club style, a little uninspired. Everything else, delicious.

Great food! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I'm pretty sure it was just our server Brian...but he was absolutely the worst server I have had in a long time. I'm all about giving wait staff a break in the current atmosphere...but this guy was BAD. He had a terrible attitude and provided terrible service. I truly hope he was just having a bad day but I suspect that wasn't the case. The good news is that the food was fantastic. I would try this place again if I was sure I would have a different server.

Had a terrible experience last night at the restaurant. It was about 8pm and we went to the host in the area to the right. My husband is a disabled Vietnam veteran and can't sit comfortably in a booth ao we asked for a table. He said they only had both but other side has tables, and they would seat us. We went there, asked for a table and the hostess was about to seat us when a very rude man (manager/owner??) said 'this side is closed and you can go to the other side '. There were plenty of people still seated there. I explained that he needed a low table (my husband uses a cane and was wearing a disabled veterans hat). He was even ruder and said this side is still closed. We left offended, will never go back and will tell everyone we know not to go there. I think he had a bias against vets or maybe us in general.

First time here after many years living in the area. I’ve been missing out! Great food at a reasonable price and old school atmosphere with friendly service. Pizza was terrific and the tortellachi tasted like my Nona’s homemade. We will be back.

We normally love the restaurant but tonight some things fell short of the quality we have come expect. While my Old Fashion was wonderful, they were out of Aligash. The wait staff were working in, I would term as workout clothes, which is not the norm for this home town favorite. We chalked it up to the boss lady not being around. We hope she is okay. They were out of cheesecake and the poor excuse for key lime pie we were sold, certainly didn’t make up for it. Sorry 😞 This definitely not the norm we are accustomed to here but hope the next time, it will be back to normal high standards and quality.

Fabulously & consistently excellent food & service for at least two generations. A weekly tradition for decades. Even everyone working in their Kitchen have been here about 25 years as happy, hard working and loyal chef’s, who do consistently excellent work. Clearly a favorite.
