This is a cool spot in Highwood. Nothing really stands out as exceptional, but everything was pretty good.I got the rueban sandwich because we were there on St Patrick's Day. It was ok. The plain French fries were very average, but the truffle fries were much better. The calamari was good, but the other appetizers were not so much. The goat cheese was bland and the crab cakes were small and mushy.I had an alcohol free cocktail and it was good, but not $9 good. The cheeseburger and chicken sandwich were both loved by our dining partners. The service was pretty slow, but I'm sure they were under staffed since it was a holiday weekend.

Here's what you need to know: Josh and his team have created the most joyous dining experience for upscale yet casual fare in Highwood. A tight menu which is executed so well with service and ambiance that are simply incomparable. The visuals of the food are amazing (please see pics). Our server Riley was absolutely outstanding too. The patio is the most elegant and vibrant in the north shore. Love the feel of it.Overall, excellent repeat experience and keeps us coming back for more.

This place is alright and unique in many ways. My advice is if going at night pay the $5 + tip to the valet and factor that in to your meal budget as parking is "No bueno" if location is busy. I give it a 4 for poor parking options, food is great but the menu is small and too unique (got stuck eating a burger instead), also I know it is childish but they use these bio degradable straws that easily fall apart and have a weird texture, just ditch the straw altogether if you want to help the environment. Nice aspects to the restaurant are the heaters from above on the patio, and the bathrooms are unique in that the give you a lot of space for just one person and glass is tempered, no communal bathrooms for such a big place.

Beautiful outdoor dining area...excellent turkey burger. Avocado toast was uniquely delicious! Also enjoyed the cauliflower and brussel sprouts. My wife's tuna salad looked amazing.

The atmosphere was modern, and the staff was friendly. The food was generic American fare. The fries were probably the best part of my meal. The steak was bland enough that I had to season it at the table. For the price, I wish it were a better cut (ny strip would be a good substitution for this meal). The prices were reasonable, if not a bit high for the area.

My husband and I dined here for dinner over the weekend. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food! Parking we thought was going to be a challenge, but valet was $5 (hard to pass up, and they were very fast with the car). Our table wasn’t ready yet, so we had a cocktail at the bar. Service was great and cocktails were good. Our table was on the patio. It looked like most of the patio could be converted to indoor dining if there was bad weather or it was cold. The windows folded in accordion style, so once the weather does turn they only lose a handful of tables. Our food was delicious! We started with the mushroom sourdough toast which had a lot of flavor. We did not know what to expect; it was surprisingly good! My husband had the steak and I had the chicken paillard. The only complaint about the steak was that it was basically rare when he asked for it medium-rare. Definitely did not stop him from eating it though. The chicken was very tender and delicious! I don’t know what the sauce was that was over the chicken, but it was very appetizing. Great find for a date night in the Highwood area. Will definitely be back!

Really surprised by the negative reviews. It’s a great restaurant, we come often and also pick up. The menu is awesome, it’s beautiful, and always feels nice but is casual enough that we bring our kids to the patio. Grateful to have them nearby as a go-to.

It was ok. I was expecting a lot more for the price and the reviews. I enjoyed the rare tuna steak dinner, but the calamari was over cooked and hard. The chicken, and fish was ok. Not worth the crazy price. Burger was good. Brussels sprouts were terrible and felt raw. Came out cold. No parking except valet. No option for a single burger for my little sister. Drinks were expensive and tasted Virgin. The ambiance is amazing. That’s what you’re paying for.Parking: No parking anywhereKid-friendliness: Not kid friendly

Overall, Greenwood was a pleasant experience. Located in an attractive area of Highwood, the exterior and interior in beautiful Modern design. Cool feel and vibe. The service and drinks were good. The food was moderate to good. The Shrimp Cocktail was very good. We had the Double Cheeseburger and the Turkey Burger. Tasty but not exceptional. I think if returning I would try the Rainbow Trout. That may be more their forte and I don’t see it available often. It was my daughter’s birthday, which I noted in the reservation but nothing was done, and was only mentioned in passing as we left. I had wished for a bit more since they did know about it in advance. (valet parking not a plus for me)

I loved so many things about this restaurant. The atmosphere and decor was incredible - a mid century modern design and you can tell a lot of thought went into it.The service and drink selections were fantastic. The person who showed to our seat made several good wine selections to complement our meal.Food - this is where I think some improvements could be made. We started with the ahi tuna as an app - the presentation was nice, but the taste was rather disappointing. For entrees, we had the burgers, fries, Brussels, Amish chicken and stir fried cauliflower. The Amish chicken was great and well cooked. The Brussel sprouts were not cooked - in fact, we brought them home and roasted them in the oven for quite some time before eating them. Burger looked good, but honestly didn’t taste as good as it looked.4 stars for food and 5 for everything else.

We had the au gratin Mac, double burger, skirt steak sandwich, and brownie dessert. All of which I would recommend. The service, quality, presentation, ambiance, drink selection and staff were above excellent.

We are from Schaumburg IL. Love to visit HP and High Wood. Greenwood it’s an amazing place to dinner. The setting, service and atmosphere it's amazing! Mike, the owner would always make sure that you have the best experience, if impossible, it doable for him! I I'm grateful he took the time to check on our table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves! Greenwood it's definitely recommended! ❤️

Best Patio in the northshore. Amazing food to boot. Amazing bar too. We've honestly never had a bad meal here. Hidden gems - the burgers (turkey is surprisingly good) and unique sides. Killer Brussel sprouts and cauliflower. The wings are some of the best in thdisappointed.Menu (especially the entres) changes quarterly so it's hard to recommend Entres but never dissapointed.

I feel the food was gone down in quality along with the bar program since they opened. Tonight I was disappointed. I had ordered a steak medium rare received it well done- sent it back just to receive another well done steak. From my craft beverage knowledge i can see the fault in the bar, lack of knowledge etc. even with direction it’s just a bit unexpected. Apart from this they have really good food, and the aesthetic is great. However i would suggest their bartenders learn the art of mixology better and not give me a tequila sour on the rocks and with lime juice.

We visited Greenwood last Saturday night for dinner with another couple. This was not our first meal here and eaten here a few times before. There seem to be a huge disconnect between the service at the tables, bar, and kitchen. When my wife and I arrived, we grabbed 2 seats at the bar and had a couple of really good cocktails from the bartender. He actually made me a proper Aviation not the weird one with Tequila on the menu. Our friends arrived and we were sat promptly. Unfortunately, they seemed to be very understaffed and we could tell after sitting down. It took a really long time for the server to come to the table. It also took a long time to receive the drinks and order our food. Then we waited for our food for about an hour and we received very poor food. My wife and our friends Turkey burgers were like hockey pucks and my Grilled Cheese was grilled, but by the time I received it the cheese was solid again and cold.Derek, one of the managers, ended up taking care of our meal for the poor experience. It was a very nice gesture and acknowledged their shortcomings. I appreciate the customer service a ton and Derek should be commended for his service.I understand that every place has it's bad nights, but Derek and the bartender, who's name I forget, were great.I am not sure when or if I'll be back, but the managers and bartender were on point.

Carry-out experience was a nightmare. I asked the valet staff if I could park there but they said I had to park across the street. Crossing the street to and from the restaurant I was almost run over both times. My food was cold because they just left it on the counter next to the hostess desk. Supremely disappointing for what should be a classy restaurant.

The food and service was good. Atmosphere is nice and lively. I would suggest the staff wear a uniform of some kind. It was hard to distinguish the service staff from the patrons. The hostess and host had their jackets on and blended in with patrons. The hostess was wearing leggings and a crop top. For the type of restaurant Greenwood seems to be, a standard of uniformity would be nice.

Easy curbside pick-up! This was our first time ordering from Greenwood, and we were so impressed with the quality of takeout (from the food itself to the actual packaging). One of the favorites of the night were the mussels that were still hot by the time we got home - absolutely delicious and the portions were much larger than anticipated. Looking forward to adding Greenwood to our takeout routine now.

Summary: Overpriced and cold food with bad service.Details...Came here for a dinner b-day party on a private covered patio on Sunday. Hosts ordered a dinner package at $60 per person. Here is what we got and what you might expect…hors d'oeuvres during open bar (which was a separate fee). They were served without toothpicks or any other utensils to grab then, some of these are not your typical finger foods:-A couple pieces of half falafel ball-Maybe a couple pieces of tuna on slices of cucumbers-Maybe the tiniest piece of avocado toastOnce you are seated, you will get all the below served family style…You will get salad (a few leaves of it). The things like tuna and nuts, you won't find much of them there (not enough for everyone at the table to try), just leaves/greens.Main course is the biggest rip-off in terms of quantity of food. It was all either cold or lukewarm. Here is what you might get:- A piece of beef, 2x4 inch in size- 1-2 pieces of trout, 2x4 inch in size- Sort of enough of chicken breast of some sort. Absolutely tasteless and dry..- Maybe a piece of roasted potato as a side if lucky - my wife and I had to split one…- Green beans (there was enough of this). You can see the pattern, cheap stuff is plenty, something that is more expensive/desirable, not so much. For dessert maybe you will get 1 (max 2) tiniest pieces of pastry which was absolutely uninspiring.Service was bad. Wait staff barely spoke (doubt if they understand English well). They don't acknowledge you when you ask for something. No smiles, no “thank yous”. Asked for more side potatoes, no acknowledgement that she’d bring (or not bring, went away, potatoes did not materialize)... Now you be the judge if this is worth $60 per person (plus taxes and fees)…There was an open bar, I have no idea how much it cost but I’d assume it was not cheap. The bartender was friendly; she was the only bright spot in the whole service experience…

The service was rude. Our sever acted like she had someplace better to be and we were rushed. At one point, multiple servers were sent to our table in succession to ask if we were done. The food and ambiance were a solid 3-4 stars, but the service was poor enough to ensure I will not be returning or recommending.
