Great experience! The manager kindly offered a sample of ice cream to one of the kids in our party who had bumped her head on the way in and was crying. We got the lemon Italian ice, exhausted parent, and the blackberry lemon. The lemon Italian ice was somehow a creamy texture without having dairy, perfect for a hot sunny day as they have in the description. We all tried exhausted parent in a cookie sandwich form. The cookies have a bite to them, and they make the ice cream sandwich right in front of you. You can get any flavor as a sandwich. Exhausted parent is probably the best integration of the alcohol taste into an ice cream I've had, good flavor without the burn of alcohol. Everyone liked the blackberry lemon (especially the kids).

Wonderful Ice Cream Shop. Very tasty and unique flavors. The girls behind the counter were eager to help and very friendly. Might be nice to have the staff learn the history of the old Fire House. We will be back on our next visit.

Delicious small batch ice cream shop! I haven't tried a flavor I didn't love. Everyone is super friendly and it is in a cute old firehouse. They also have cookie dough which you can add to your sundae. Definitely need to stop in!

The manager was so sweet and helpful. You can tell they’re busting their tail for all customers to have a wonderful experience. We definitely appreciated it and will be back. Not to mention the ice cream was some of the best ice cream ever! Taste like something from Wisconsin!!!!

It's disingenuous to keep the same Google listing and reviews for a completely different place than what Chicago Mike's was. The only thing that's the same is the location.It's not the same high quality, home made ice cream - they now serve a Wisconsin brand with the same flavors you find in every tourist town (cheesecake, vanilla fudge, etc).Service was slow and lacked the genuine enthusiasm and friendliness of Mike and his employees. Sorry to see them go.

Best ice cream West of Mitchell's in Cleveland. The select flavor listing are diverse and offering creamy, locally crafted selections like Horchata (with Jasmine Rice). Can't go wrong with anything banana or containing espresso from next door's Tala Coffee Roasters. Some scoops are served with a great ginger cookie too. Staff is super friendly. The shop is uniquely housed in a former firehouse with large garage doors that get opened up in the nicer season to outdoor seating.

Absolutely delicious ice cream you can only find at Chicago Mike's! Not only is the ice cream so creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness, but the staff here is so thoughtful as well! We cane here with our dog and the girl that was taking our order offered a free doggie bowl! This is the a favorite in my family in all of the Chicagoland area! Recommended flavors include: Wild Cherry, Coffee Espresso, and Pistachio!

Devastated isn’t even close to what I feel about this. I used to go to Mike’s for its unique homemade ice cream. Now they just have basic ice cream and couple new ones. Wouldn’t bother going there now. I hope in the future they can actually make good ice cream..

Here's what you need to know: my whole family loves this creamery. It's all made in house SUPER HIGH QUALITY ice creams. No mediocre flavors - every single one is hit it out of the park solid stuff.Well priced for the North Shore and service is always outstanding - great ownership and management. Pro Tip: The Mini flight is a very good value. They even have house made large chocolate chip cookies.This really has become an institution for the north shore, one to be celebrated by all - kids and adults alike. So glad Mike's is bringing this quality offering to the neighborhood.

How about opening before summer is over.Update; says open on here but I drive all the way there(about 23 minutes) just to see they are closed. 9/18/23 what respectful American business is closed on Monday!?!Too bad cause last ti.e I'll make the trip.Another update; 9/22/23 still not making milkshakes. Yet again wasted my time and gas. I give up. Goodluck.

3 stars for me but it might be 5 stars for you. And it’s only been a year. Let’s give them a chance to really get good. The potential is there.Best ice cream in Highwood. The four owners and entire staff get high marks for making their own ice cream and using their own recipes. It’s got the right fat content... it’s got the texture... whatever ingredients they are buying are good quality.For me... it’s too sweet and the flavors on the one day I went did not do it for me. Of the flavors I tried, I would have the coffee again... although I suggest renaming the flavor “coffee light and sweet” as it tastes like a cup of Joe with two spoonfuls of sugar and a lot of milk.Of all the ice cream places I’ve visited this summer, Chicago Mike’s has the greatest potential. I look forward to trying it again.

This was our first time here. $10 min charge for card purchases. Customer service and atmosphere are great; we sat outside on the dog friendly patio. My stomach has never reacted to ice cream the way it did, however, so I probably won't have treats here again without researching how their ice cream is made. THAT BEING SAID, we've cut most dairy out of our diets in the last year, so maybe that's it? Curious to try to coffee place next door, though!

Came from Lockport about 1 hour away! This place is the real deal! The owner is amazing and is running a phenomenal business. The ice cream is out of this world. We enjoyed our dessert so much we ordered seconds! The Horchata, Carrot Cake and Coconut Almond were all amazing. It was also great for our son who cannot have dairy. So many options for him that he begged to go back tomorrow and he will pay! The attention to cleanliness was great everyone had masks on and gloves too and tables were being cleaned constantly! We will be back! Thanks Mike!!

Outstanding. Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The pistachio really comes through in the Sicilian Pistachio. I haven’t tried a flavor that hasn’t given me goosebumps. Each time I eat their ice cream I’m transported back to the first bites of ice cream I tasted as a child. Absolutely worth standing in line for.

Fantastic ice cream and fantastic service. My wife and I cycled down from Lake Forest and couldn't have been happier. I had a sundae w/ choc. chip. cookie dough and sicilian pistachio chip. Jess had a sorbet. Both were spot on. We ate them too fast to take a picture :(The owners show a lot of care for their customers and their employees alike in the COVID era. The outdoor order setup keeps the patrons safe and comfortable with plenty of outdor seating, too. I noticed that it's the manager or possibly owners who are taking customer orders, while the more novice employees are kept safe doing the prep-work. All the employess are well masked and gloved, keeping everything very hygenic and transparent.Thanks all for a great experience. We'll definitely be back

Amazing Ice cream quality! Had a scoop of their horchata ice cream and I was hooked!! I ho back at least once or twice and month and have tried different ice creams, all are amazing rich and delicious. I recommend the horchata, banana foster, and coffeecino. They also carry sorbet and sundaes. Everything an ice cream shop should carry. Plus you can in eat in or outdoors.

Wonderful to have this shop in our community. The staff is extremely friendly and needless to say the variety, flavors and taste are over-the-top. Plenty of outdoor seating to meet the requirements of social distancing and they take orders via phone or in person. I'm predicting a busy summer for Chicago Mike's.

Excellent ice cream parlor in Highwood. It is in the location of the the old Highwood Fire Department. Very cool use of the space, I look forward to the summer when the front is opened up. We went to dinner down the street from here and on our walk back to the car we stopped in for dessert. I had a two scoop sunday and the ice cream was smooth creamy and excellent. The owner was working the counter himself and he explained that he makes all the ice cream himself with his brother. I will definitely be returning for more ice cream. Thank you
