Have had a few really good experiences here and was excited to come back. We loved the live music nights!When we recently returned, it was a bit busy and had trouble getting in to even find a place to stand/sit and the bartender was quite rude. We left after driving 30 minutes out of the way.

Enjoyed the atmosphere so much. But really loved the selection of great bourbon. Add to that the crispy, chewy crust of the pizza and what a winning combination! The Debonair four cask bourbon is smooth and multi-faceted. We took a bottle home! Look forward to coming again soon.

I am writing this review from a personal and professional standpoint, as I have hosted a few work events at 28-Mile over the past year, and recently had my son's Bar Mitzvah party there. As a former event planner, and someone who plans numerous events for my job, I can honestly say that I have never encountered a more professional and accommodating staff. From the ownership, to the management, to the bar & waitstaff, and I have to mention the woman who tirelessly maintains the cleanliness of the venue, each and every one of them go above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly for your event. Both of the recent events I hosted had elaborate set-ups, and the entire staff (even the owner!) helped make sure the space looked the best it possibly could.From my initial meetings with Mike the manager, to the walk thru/layout details of the space, and menu discussions, Mike gave me his undivided attention and great suggestions as to what would work best. He promptly answered any questions I had, and leading up to my events he could not have been more responsive, flexible and accommodating. This is not a venue that just wants your money, they truly care about their customers and strive to make sure that from start to finish everything goes well. From the laborious set-up to breakdown for both of my events they could not have been more helpful!We also got so many compliments on the food from our guests, their pizza is definitely some of the best on the North Shore! The bar staff is amazing and so efficient. Not only do they make awesome cocktails (their butterscotch bourbon was a crowd favorite), you also feel their genuine commitment to making sure that the event is a success. No matter what my request was of the management, or the bar or waitstaff, they made it happen with a smile on their faces. If a scenario is possible, they will do whatever they can to make your vision come to life.If you are considering having an event at 28-Mile do not hesitate, I promise you will not be disappointed. I am already thinking about other events I can plan there, especially when the weather gets warm so I can utilize their roof & patio. I could not possibly be more grateful to everyone at 28-Mile for helping to make my son's Bar Mitzvah party a night we will never forget!!!

Such a spectacular space! I am the client concierge for a financial group & we held a cocktail party for some of our clients in the Soto Room private bar last night. Our staff & guests loved the experience! I heard many good things about the smoked Old Fashioned & was very impressed with the serving vessel. So cool! The pizza was also delicious. New Haven style pizza might just be my new favorite! We can’t say enough good things about the space & talent behind the bar. Mike was wonderful to work with, very kind, quick & considerate in his approach. I look forward to our next visit!

Great atmosphere and love the aesthetic!! The owner is really nice as well, and he chatted with us for a bit. The pizza smelled amazing, but I boozily settled for a soft pretzel with some great cheese! The bartender was super sweet and down-to-earth as well, which was a total plus. They have live music here from time to time as well and outdoor rooftop seating! Definitely check it out!

I absolutely love the inviting atmosphere at this restaurant – it sets the perfect tone for a great dining experience. The drinks are exceptional, crafted with care and creativity. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying the pizza at 28 Mile Distilling Company, and I must say, it’s by far the best pizza on the North Shore. Being from the northeast, I have missed the distinctive style of pizza from back east, but the flavors and quality here brought me right back home. The hand-stretched, New Haven style pizza made from scratch is just perfect – from the texture of the crust to the balance of the toppings. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic northeast pizza experience right here in Illinois.

It's my first time visting this place and it so happens that pumpkins are everywhere in HIGHWOOD. I am a little bit hesitant to try this distillery at first but I fell in love immediately upon seeing the interiors.We sat at the cocktail bar and we tried the pear gin drink! We loved it. Alex and Pete runs the bar . They are amazing dynamic duo.We also loved the pizzas!

Nobody came to our table for at least 15 minutes on a busy Friday night to take our order. We sat on a high top at the bar area. Nobody greeted us either and wasn’t sure if anyone was working the floor to come to our table and if we had to order at the bar. It was self seating. It looked way understaffed. My husband went to the bar in an attempt to place an order and waiter there for awhile. I was surprised when someone finally came to our table so I pointed over to my husband at the bar and said “I think my husband may have placed our order at the bar”. The waiter said something like “no he probably didn’t because I would know.” So I called my husband back who said he hadn’t placed an order yet. There was no apology about the wait either. The cocktails were in the $16 range and ok in my view but nothing spectacular tasting or looking for that price (I got the Elm in Paris or whatever it was called). The margarita pizza crust was nice but the pizza itself wasn’t salty enough for me and was kind of bland. I liked the big pieces of basil though. The acoustics in the bar area were bad with the high ceiling in the front making it extra loud. Maybe it could be better if they could staff it appropriately on a weekend night? I wouldn’t go back.

Such an amazing experience!!! Their spirits are second to none. Service was incredible and we will be heading there again soon. They captured the roaring 20's vibe down to the last detail. Pedro and his brother behind the bar embody true service and appreciation for the patron. Simply wonderful and only a short Metra ride from downtown Chicago.

Came here last night for pizza and drinks with the wife. Rally cool art deco vibe, great drinks and good pizza. The band playing in the other room was good to not sure who they were. Also was impressed by the light up menus. Will be back

Loved this place. They have a house distilled bourbon that's awesome. The cocktails are great.We had a salad pizza with lettuce and red wine vinegar. That was very different and nice.Good place to bring friends along for the evening.

Great place to enjoy some drinks. My first visit back in late 2018, they gave a free vodka tasting since it was my first time. They also gave me one of my two drinks for free. I'm not sure why, but the hospitality is appreciated.They do serve food, but I would emphasize that this is a distillery, not a restaurant. Also there's live country music playing here all the time.Definitely worth the visit.

This review is based upon the place being open for a week and during its soft open.First of the decor takes you back to something out of the Great Gatsby. Fun with a high-end feel that is befitting of the quality.The service is very attentive to the point of overstaffed. There is maybe seating for 75 (patio not open yet) and there was at least 10 bartenders and servers. But training and time open will change this.The star of the show is the vodka and boy does it shine. Sweet, clean with very little burn. There is a taste of vanilla but not a cake just smooth. Easy to drink straight up or on the rocks. There are some very good cocktails that feature the vodka but with all the house made mixers the vodka is masked.The owner came over and introduced himself (Eric) talked about the vodka now, the gin that should be available in a few months and that they are looking for a wiskey in a few years. Seems like the place is on a great track and will be a nice addition for years to come.Cheers!

Fantastic event space. Beautiful bar area. The drinks were amazing. I had The French. The service was outstanding. The outside area looks wonderful weather permitting. Highwood is up and coming with wonderful places. Can't wait to go back to check out the live music.
