First time at this location, but since they had a space heater actually in stock it was worth a short little drive to pick it up.I didn't deal with any employees other than the cashier but for a first visit it seems like a decent little store. I wandered around for a few mins and they have a great selection which the smaller stores do not carry. I will frequent here more often if they continue to carry what I need.

Close by and convenient, and very helpful and friendly staff. The quality of their plants is also excellent. I especially like their rewards program - I actually feel rewarded when a “chunk” comes off my bill.

Best rental spot around! hands down. Ryan who runs the dept. is the BEST- can do attitude, super helpful, knows everything, keeps the customer centric and does it with a smile and a personal touch. Large staff - most rental places have 1 old guy, who takes forever, and if there is another customers - add 30 minutes to your wait. I was in and out in less then 10 minutes fully loaded, paper work done.Now ALL of that is a big deal and is important - but it doesnt mean a thing - if you dont have the equipment to rent. This is the best rental stock I've seen. not just 1 compactor - but 6, not 2 concrete mixers, but 8. you can pretty much count on them to have it available because they have multiple units. I just wish I had MORE projects and needed more rentals. LOVE this place!

This Ace hardware store has the most knowledgeable and friendly staff I have ever experienced. I am a retired contractor and love shopping here and getting the advice for the right products. The level of services offered is incredible. This is my go to hardware store.

Store manager Jim is very poor at his job. He lies to customers and kicks them out the store if they dont agree with him. Then when he is approached about it he denies you businessI brought in 20 chainsaw blades to be sharpened. I was dealing with a sales person when the store manager chimed in and He told me it was cheaper to buy new ones because of the price to get them sharpened. When I asked him for a price he told me he could give me a price for sharpening. I asked him why he would say that If he couldn't give me price quote. Then he denied my business and walked out. At the time i dodnt know he was the store ma ager. I went to customer service in the front and asked for the store manager. When he came around the corner hrkicked me out the store.I bought all 20 of these blades here at the Highland park location. Stihl 33 RS3 72 chainsaw blades at $50 a piece. So $500 dollars in just blades and this so called store manager is more like a clown is Absolutely the example of what is wrong with society today. Other customers were having the similar issues with this guy. At least 2 elder ladies applauded me as they have had problems with this guy as well.Very dissapointed. No need to travel to the huge box stores when you can come to your local Mutual Ace Hardware store and find a wide variety of pretty much everything you need for DIYers at reasonable prices. Not a DIYer but want to fix something and not sure what to do, this place has plenty of helpful associates to answer your questions and lead you to the right item you may need. This establishment also has a rental area of tools and equipment to help get the job done right.

Best Ace around! Jim was super helpful. The had the Weber E6 although the Weber site did not!Plus they have everything from hard to find lights to bird feed and feeders for a nice price.Almost forgot, they have lots of cooking fuel, including every smoking chip you can think of for a reasonable price.They also have great plants and a team that can advise and execute from cutting glass for window replacement to picking bird feeders, to finding the right ant for your needs

The employees here are friendly, but prices are a little high. You pay for convenience of having a local hardware store. Don't order items online for store pickup, just get them delivered to your house. I have had two online purchases now with negative experiences. First time I ordered an item that the store does not keep in stock. For some reason after the item arrived they put it out on the shelf in the store. They don't sell the item, there was no tag for it, they just found a spot. Luckily we were able to find it and I was still able to get my item. The second time I was not so lucky. Once again, ordered an item that the store does not stock. Got to the store within 2 hours of receiving the email that my item was ready for pick up only to find out that a customer had already purchased the item before I got there. So either they once again put the item out on the floor or a customer was able to pick an item up from the online purchase area and check out with it. Not sure how this is possible, but this store does not handle online orders well at all.

There seems to be a lack of available employees and even more of a shortage of staff that are willing to assist customers also. Most of their cashier's seem to be more interested in checking out their cellphones on the sales floor behind the counter rather than the customers with their merchandise. There are a select small number of regular sales associates who consistently provide good courteous service to the customers which is always nice to have.

I just returned from a very disappointing experience at Mutual Ace in Highland Park, IL. Will not honor their own Ace product warranty.A few years ago, I bought an Ace Flexogen 100ft hose (Item #72054) at this Ace location. From day one, it leaked. Thinking it was the sprayer, I just let the problem linger. However, after buying 2 new nozzles this spring, I realized it was the hose.Due to the original leaking, I kept the warranty card and brought it into the store. The warranty clearly states "The Ace Promise. If this Ace product, when used for its intended purpose, fails to give you complete satisfaction, return the item to the Ace Hardware store where you purchased for free replacement of the same or similar item."Maria, at Customer Service told me 'we really don't follow the warranty' and had to call 'Steve' the manager. Steve would only allow me a $29.99 credit or nothing. I could not find a new 100 ft. hose in stock, but settled on the smaller Ace SmartFLO 75ft hose, which I was charged $39.99 for.So instead of a free replacement of a same or similar item, I had to pay an extra $10 for a shorter hose!Like many, I have been trying to support local stores in the midst of the pandemic. However, after this encounter, why would I go back to any Ace store, if the local store can simply void the warranty on a whim?

A wonderful local hardware store, where you can find more of the higher end products not often available at big box stores. Great service by the associates and they have really expanded their outdoor section over the last few years. I also assume that their rental business is busy and full of options based on the size and selection of their products.

Loved this place. Great experience. Had to pay $5 more per propane bottle for a refill. But the staff were so helpful, and nice. Helped load the car. I'll happily 😊 pay the extra $5 for the professionalism. They were even sweet to my daughter. 5 🌟 treatment.

Really nice people and great service. If all you care about is getting the lowest price, by all means stick with the big box stores but don't be surprised when you get home and realize you don't have everything you need for your project. That's not going to happen if you take the time to ask Mutual's knowledgeable staff for suggestions.Or, if you buy a lawnmower there (like I did), you will have the help of two guys bringing it out to your car to help you load it in; or provide delivery if needed.Besides the great service, it's kind of fun just to walk around and be in awe of the vast selection of stuff they carry here. It's guaranteed you'll find something you need while you're browsing.I love supporting a local store and spending money in the town where I live as opposed to the big boxes. Great job, Mutual!

$20 to fill my OWN propane tank?! Should have went to the gas station across the street and did an exchange. Also didnt appreciate Scott bad mouthing me to another co worker, while I'm standing there! I'll drive the extra 10 minutes to Home Depot next time. Customer service totally ruined my first visit here.

The two girls that work up at the cashier area are awesome I think the one girl's name is Brenda and the other one is Shantae. Every time I come in there they are so friendly so nice and so helpful. John is another big help. Whenever you walk in he always ask you if you need help and he's always willing to walk you to every aisle until you get exactly what you need. The reason I only gave it three out of five stars is because despite all this nice help the manager of the store didn't make me feel so warm and fuzzy. There were items that were listed at a certain price 1999. Although the sign said in small print sale ends the 18th which was yesterday they were not willing to honor the price even though it's their responsibility to take the sale price tags down. Had I come in the store at 9 or 10 in the morning and they hadn't gotten a chance to take the signs down I would have understood but considering it's almost 2 in the afternoon the store had ample time to take down any old and expired sale tags. I would have thought that to make the customer happy you would have just sold the garage remotes at the price that it was listed instead of saying I'm sorry that adds expired yesterday there's nothing I can do. Not good customer service because had I gone to Home Depot or Menards in the same thing would have happened I would have got it for whatever the price that was listed on the tag.
