We brought in our 6 year old Rottweiler and our 8 week old puppy to Dr. Portee and she was amazing! She handled our misbehaving Rottweiler with superb confidence and took extra time to help us with some training tips. She has an amazing heart for teaching and care! We thank you so much Dr. Portee! You’re our hero!

Staff was amazing with my toddler & I, and gentle with my baby dog Bluebelle. They listened closely and attentively, did not feel rushed at all. Sent back immediately at appointment time (no waiting.) The place was clean! They will be doing hernia correction surgery on my girl and i am confident she is in good hands. Photo for tax ;)

We brought our beloved pet to Central Hospital in Herrin for something we thought was a mild illness to find out it was a life threatening condition. The staff was very supportive and compassionate with giving facts about the situation and helping weigh all the options. They ultimately provided the best care for our pet who is now healthy and home. Above and beyond the care my pet received the staff and Doctors have been very willing to take my questions as they come up over the phone and have encouraged proactive pet care. Can't recommend them enough!

Ellen McNitt is the worst veterinarian I have ever had the misfortune of coming in contact with. She was incredibly hostile and unprofessional throughout the entire appointment. I will never return to the Herrin office, solely because of her.I took my sick dog to this vet for the first time last week, and I left thinking he was dying and I was a terrible owner. Fortunately, he’s doing a lot better now, but it took a second opinion at a different vet to get any legitimate answers or treatment. She never even bothered to introduce herself to me, I had to go searching for her name on the prescription bottle. I don’t know why she’s so unhappy in her life that she would treat people this way (consistently, based on other reviews) and quite frankly, I could not care less. She needs to get the attitude in check like every other adult in society is expected to. Shame on her, and honestly this practice for allowing someone to repeatedly verbally abuse the people who keep them in business.

Absolutely awful experience. I took my 10 year old lab that was coughing/throwing blood at 6:15pm. The website claims they’re open till 8:00 and they take 24 hour emergencies and we were told that they quit taking patients at 6:00 after the woman at the counter carried on a 20 minute conversation with another customer instead of informing us that they are closed.

Staff very kind and knowledgeable. Loved the way surgery tech came and talked to us about my Toby. Have taken several pets there Dr McNitt as been great. All vets wonderfull. Just wish they would go back to having emergency services.

I’ve been going to Central Hospital for years! My little Carlos just had a dental done, he’s 12 yrs old, with a few medical issues. I was so nervous about putting him under anesthesia! The whole staff was wonderful. Thank you for giving him top notch care.

Dr Portee and the Staff were great. You all were my Vet in the past, but not having a dog the last 10 years I hadn't needed Vet service. I am so glad I returned and found the same quality of care. I cant say enough good thing about Dr Portee.

I will never be taking my pets here again. I recently took my dog here and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. My dog had been sick for 2 days and was unable to keep anything down so I was worked in for an appointment which I was extremely thankful for. When we got there we were taken to the back to wait and when the vet (Dr McNitt) came in she made me feel like the most incompetent and terrible dog owner. When I asked for a breakdown of lab costs she acted like it was the most inconvenient thing ever to print them off for me. When she said something about a nausea shot I asked what she thought would be best or what she would recommend and her reply was “I don’t know I don’t live at home with your dog.” She told me whatever I was doing was “clearly not working” instead of trying to give me any answers or figure anything out. I’ve never been treated so poorly by someone and when I walked out to pay I was close to tears. 100% do not recommend.

Huge thank you to Dr. Ellen McNitt for her treatment of my diabetic dog Amos. She sets the standard for professionalism, and keeps it honest and matter of fact. I truly felt she cared about my dog's long range health, and because of his care at Central, he is doing so much better!!!

This place is awesome! The entire staff is very caring, friendly, and professional. Our dog had a surgical procedure done and the staff was so compassionate. There was great follow up and best of all our dog came through it with flying colors! We are very happy with the care our dog received and the kindness that was given to us. I highly recommend Central Hospital for your fur baby too! You won't be disappointed.

I'll never go back.. u don't get to go I with your pet and the Vet is rude .. when price gouged for a service vet will criticize from around the corner .. left me leaving g in tears over the way he talked to me

They were wonderful...I brought in a handful...4 Chihuahua mixes ... Momma dog weighing in about 12 lbs and the other 3 just under 22 lbs. But they said they were great when they went back for nail trim and suppression. And they all took shots for rabies like troopers. They were so good with them all.

I've been incredibly pleased with our experiences here. Unfortunately, the only thing keeping this from 5 stars is having made a trip on Thursday to get my dog's meds. Posted closing time is 6 (as opposed to 5 in Marion where I live). I arrived at 535 to locked doors, thus wasting my time and failing to procure her meds. 😞

All staff are so friendly, we have never been treated so good, they are very caring. My little peanut was treated for a broken leg, she has a lot of recovery to go but she's doing so good thanks to Central hospital, all my dogs will go nowhere but there. I CANT THANK THEM ENOUGH.....
