While I was working on the power plant at Grand Tower, I parked my travel trailer at the rv park and shopped at the Goreville Food Market. Man! I sure miss this place. Great friendly people and a clean reasonable small town store to shop in. Great experience, thanks for all the wonderful people in Goreville for making my stay memorable.

Great little store ! Soooo glad they are there. The staff is very friendly. They have cheese burgers in the deli that are absolutely amazing !!!!

Close to the state park, this old school grocery store was clean and everything was priced reasonably. The services was good and they had are large selection to choose from. All in all ot was a good trip and if im ever in the area again I will return. I really enjoy seeing mom and pop stores like this still in business. Also cashier WAS wearing a mask.

Whenever I am close to Goreville I make a point of going to this market and cking out their steam table in the back of the store. Their fried chicken is delish! I have been popping into this store for about 5+ years and have never had a bad experience. Service is exceptional. I recommend shopping with them when they have meat sales. If you have not visited them yet try to make a trip in!

It's a place. Kinda run down, seems to smell of natural gas. Meats have MSG if I recall correctly.Update/Edit: was referring to the Behrmann packaged meats, which definitely have MSG + corn syrup. Didn't buy anything from the deli on account of the general condition of the place, which gave me hygiene concerns.

I don’t go their often, but this is a great store. I’m not gonna lie, it is a little run down, but so is the rest of Goreville 😂. I love their all of their products and their workers are very nice. They give people a chance who were told they couldn’t work. I definitely recommend going here instead of any other store.

Honestly, this place has went downhill. It used to be a good market. The staff here is still nice. I went in there today, right off the bat is smells like they have a gas leak and had to literally look at every expiration date on the products I wanted, there was so much out of date or very close to being out of date. There was mold on watermelon’s, bad tomatoes, and vegetables that I saw, and the milk was like a day from being expired.

We actually have our own nickname for this grocery store. We call it "Howdy's". It's a nice clean grocery store. They always have a nice selection of fresh produce & their deli counter is one of the best around. The parking lot is clean and safe. The staff treat their customers like family and I always leave having a sweet experience. They are the epitome of a small town grocer. 😊

They have the best meat in southern Illinois. Seriously, we won't buy our meat anywhere else, even if another place has it cheaper. Customer service is great as well. It feels good to support local, small businesses.

I had a flashback to my childhood shopping experience when I stopped in. Small, but well stocked, clean, and good prices. The staff was super friendly and sincere in their hospitality. I was in a great mood when I finished shopping and saved their location for the next time I'm in town. Stop by and see what I mean.

Despite the crumbling walls and uneven floor, my shopping experience was excellent. The store is laid out like a patchwork quilt, with isles stitched together at random. Some may find it inconvenient that the ham and salami are located at opposite ends of the store, but by going in and grabbing only $100 dollars worth of groceries, I was able to achieve my step goal. Another cool feature was all the cool tricks I was able to do with the shopping cart across slanted floor. The slant is sloping towards the front of the store and is ideally suited for traveling in that direction. With a running start you are able to hop on on the cart and ride it all the way down the isle with almost no effort! Stopping the cart can be challenge though, depending on how full it is. Personal tip: it's a good idea to grab the eggs last. Additionally, the cashier on duty this evening was VERY attractive. Sadly, she is not handing out her number, hence the only 4 star review. :(

I went to get supplies before the eclipse was treated with the utmost respect and that feeling that we were welcomed at every moment persisted. Small town store big heart. The fried chicken was great and their deli meats awesome

Heard a lot of good things about their fried chicken. Tried it Sunday. Crispy but overpriced and worst of all--- fried in fish grease. I HATE fish.Update: i read your response and appreciate it. Perhaps the same utensils were used. Somehow the chicken had a distinct fish taste. I upgraded my review to 4 stars since i have purchased the fried fish and my husband said it was very good. Also your produce is quite fresh.

LOVE Goreville Food Market! Owners are friendly and helpful as is the staff. Ryan makes a mean smoked meatloaf, too!! Great local meat selection and quality deli meats and cheeses! They do small local business RIGHT!

Nice little store out in the middle of nowhere. Great customer service from a beautiful young lady the evening of Friday March 19th. Place was clean and stocked with good food and meat especially.

Worse shopping experience ever. Rude check out girl didnt even know how to use register. Ill not be be back. Iga in vienna and the the dollar store in goreville will be my go to from now on. I was in at 6pm on sunday and im done, never again will i darken the doors at this establishment. In respone to to your reply on the ebt card. There was plenty of money on it, we checked before we left and again when we got home and there was still money left on it after leaving there. This is not the first such experience with the same cashier. I do appreciate your response in trying to rectify this issue.

With this being the only true grocery store in town, you're stuck with some prices that will make you spend the extra $5 in gas to just go to Marion. (And hey, saves you money.) I'm all for supporting local businesses, that's why when the store was handed over to a new owner I decided to keep shopping. The downsides is that the meat goes out very quickly. Before New Management, I could keep meat on open for a week. Now it's barely three days and I have to use it. The reason I give it to stars is because you can see that they're trying to better the store. But with prices and food not being as fresh is why it's not higher.

I recently had a family emergency and wanted to do something for my family in Illinois. I'm from Boston and Courtney went above and beyond putting together a deli tray with all the trimmings and delivering it. I can't thank you enough for helping my family. There are no words to Express my gratitude for what you did during our time of need allowing me to do domething when I couldn't be there. I'm looking forward to trying some of your fried chicken when I visit. Thank you again!

Even though they buy half the grocery inventory from Walmart band then resell it to you I still support them. Meat is not from Walmart. One of the few places I still can trust to buy my meat.
