I helped a couple with fostering 2 dogs (siblings) prepare for their adoption day. Richard was so into helping this couple get these two dogs, I was amazed at his dedication and helpfulness for this couple. Richard is truly dedicated to the dogs and getting them homed. They took in a cat from my mom's quickly but they were rude and standoffish. I could hear them making hateful comments from the room where they keep their rescues. I tried to be nice. The whole exchange made me feel very uncomfortable. The one thing I did see is that they take care of their rescues.

We got a cat from them.it is a clean place the animals are healthy and taken care of. Would recommend adopting though them to anyone.

They take very good care of their animals. The staff is friendly with visitors and living towards their animals. We have adopted two dogs and three cats, and each time has been special. Even the animals that have sad stories and need more care get what they need. This is a clean no kill animal shelter where animals are always put first

I visited your facility for the first time yesterday when I dropped off cat food. I only looked at the cat section, but wanted you to know how impressed I was with what I saw. Love the larger cages you use and how everything looked clean and bright. The animals are obviously getting excellent care. Thank you for all you do for them. I'll be bringing more food in the future.

The lady was very nice. The lady that came in behind me had goodies for cats and she went to see them. Smelled clean. They cleaning. Got couple sick dogs so dog side down but cat side open.

The Five A's is a great place to adopt a cat or dog. The building was clean & organized. And the staff is outstanding. They are knowledgeable, helpful and very kind & nice people. I adopted my cat 2 years ago here and I took my neice their today to look at all the dogs. It was a good experience.

I dropped off some old blankets, sheets, and some old genes. As always, I have to go back and see the dogs and cats. The dogs raise such a ruckus, but the folks working there don't mind. The place is very clean and doesn't smell bad. They are full of great pets to be. Didn't leave with a new friend, but who knows, one of these days I will adopt one of these dogs for my own. It will be at 5As. Check it out!

Friendly staff went to the cat room and it was clean and the animals are very well taken care off there Kennals are clean with fresh cat litter and fresh food and water. The adoption fee is $150.00 that all so covers the chip and what ever shots those fur baby's need

I can not believe they do not take pit bulls I have never heard of a rescue animal place that only rescues certain breeds!! Every animal deserves a chance at life! How is one animals life more important than the next! I will never go to them again and WILL NOT recommend to anyone else either! How heart breaking a dogs life couldnt be saved because of their breed. Pit bulls are the most loving dogs but yet they're discriminated!! If you're a rescuing business discriminating because of breed that is not a good look you're not treating ALL animals with the same care! How does one pet deserve to be saved more than the next??? That's just not right! If you rescue animals you should rescue them all!@

I saved a kitten not being able to -had him for a week and they gave me a a number to Suzy to rescue him and get him adopted she was beyond rude to me and refused to pick him up even though we were in Godfrey . I had her on speaker and was talking to her with my family and she hung up on us .

The best animal shelter around!!! These are some of the most generous and caring individuals that I have met! These people are true to their cause and are what other shelters should strive towards! we adopted our puppy here and wouldn't know what to do without him!! The facility is clean and very well maintained with friendly staff that helped us with all the paperwork. I would highly recommend 5A's

Emily Bosarge, your comment about discrimination of pit bulls is not accurate. Reason is their insurance at the shelter will not cover them for pits, it cost so much money to keep place going, hard to pay enormous premium for those type dogs. It's not 5a, it's other stupid laws about pitbulls, because they are gentle unless taught otherwise and 5a respects them, just a bad flaw in our system.

Adopted out our missing cat, had no contact from the shelter nor had any idea he was there until we were contacted by our cat's microchip clinic to finalize ownership transfer after they adopted him out. We've been trying to get our boy back ever since and they've been a nightmare. Starting legal actions to get our cat back.

Bunch of dogs last time I was there. A few I wanted to checkout but the shelter won't let you adopt a dog over 30 lbs if you don't have a fence.it disappointed me at the same time it shows the shelter cares where their animals go.i would defiantly recommend checking this place if your looking to adopt.

Cleanest humane society I have ever been in. The people running the place we're extremely helpful and let us walk through and look at the animals at our own pace. Will definitely consider adopting from them.

I love this place... I got my best friend there back in 2013, his name is Bandit he is a Rottweiler /Sheppard mix.. He is the best dog I have ever had. Go there and rescue you a friend.

For them trying to adopt animals out they want to much money. I can save them money on food every day if they give me a dog . Just my opinion. Not saying I wouldn't donate something for thier efforts.

Always helpful smell isn't terrible for an animal shelter and they take great care of there animals as far as I can tell.
