April Perry, owner and groomer at Animal Artistry, has been grooming dogs and cats for over thirty years, and her skill and experience with all breeds of dogs and cats is quite evident.This past week I took my Portuguese Water Dog puppy, Clara, to April for a bath and clip. Apart from the grooming the breeder had given Clara, this was her first visit to a grooming salon.April patiently and thoughtfully answered my many questions and thoroughly addressed my concerns. I love the way she and her staff do not rush through a grooming, but take the time to do a thorough job while ensuring the dog (or cat) is comfortable, and not stressed. There were brief rest periods between the drying and the scissoring, for example. April assured me Clara would be very well rinsed after the shampooing, and she was.As you can see from the photos, April transformed my baby Clara into a beauty queen. I was very happy with the results. I very highly recommend April, and her excellent staff at Animal Artistry. Your BFF is in very good hands there.

I don’t know why this place has good reviews. There’s an African American lady I cannot remember her name maybe Dimitri? Something like that. She’s SWEET! She was so informational and kind to us. As to the other workers there, so rude and treat the animals so poorly! And they kept telling the lady that was giving us information to stop talking to us and answer the phone in such a snappy rude manner. They were treating her badly as well talking to her with such a bossy attitude. My fiancé and I stopped by to play with the kittens. From the 10minutes we were there, the other ladies were treating the dogs they were grooming so poorly. It was so disgusting. Shouting at them to stay still, grabbing, tugging, pulling at their neck and body to hold them down. Absolutely heartbreaking.

5 stars plus for April and the staff at Animal Artistry! I have a long haired breed puppy who was sheared at another shop. April is assisting me in growing my pups hair out to breed standards. She graciously gave me a brushing tutorial. She taught me techniques to brush my pup without being nipped. It works! I recommend April and Animal Artistry without reservation.

I recently took my furry friend to this dog groomer, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The groomer was not only skilled but also showed genuine love and care for my pup. Not only was this place dirty, the floors were filled with cat/dog hairs, cat feces all when you walk in. My small dog had a 9am appointment and I was told it would take 4 hours to get him all groomed up bc they had “more dogs in the back” went straight home and showered my dog bc of how unsanitary that place was. Wish I took pictures but I took my dog and got the hell out of there.

They are some of the nicest people around. They seem to really enjoy what they do. First of all, that I bring my dogs in pretty knotty and they have never shaved them(like other companies have).The last time I took them in, I mentioned that it was son's bday and I needed the dogs back by 3pm. They said no problem. I called around 1pm to make sure everything was on time. They said they are running late, but asked if they could drop the dogs off, because they lived nearby.I said sure, and on top of it, they dropped off bday balloons for my son.That was such a nice gesture. They are the best here.Thanks

We tried several different dog groomers before finally settling on this one. They do a good job trimming our Pom and Maltipoo, and always communicate well with us. Even when they lost power for several hours, they still gave our dogs a good haircut!

April was really amazing. She took the time to explain what type of cut will be best for my dog. She also was great and answering some of the questions I had during my first time there. My dog ended up looking great. Would definitely recommend.

I found them after my previous groomer really started to go downhill by not ever answering the phone or returning calls to schedule appointments. I called Animal Aristry and was helped and schedule right away. Didn’t have to wait a weeks either. Very affordable and the ladies are lovely! Highly recommend!

I have been going to April for almost 15 years to groom my cats and have nothing but positive things to say! She is very passionate about her work does a great job! It gives me comfort to know that when I drop them off, they are in good hands and are well taken care of. I have several friends who also have been going to April for years to get their dogs groomed and they can't say enough great things about her work! I would recommend her to anyone who needs grooming for their pets!

I just brought in my little 3 month old kitten Luna and they did SUCH a good job with her we adopted her from the shelter a week ago and she smelled like the shelter and her nails were really sharp and her ears were so dirty. We were nervous bringing her in at first because we were scared it would traumatize her, but we were in and out and she wasn't afraid at all! Her fur is sooo soft (she even has some patches of white that we thought were tan - that's how dirty she was!). And her ears are now pink inside instead of black with dirt. She also smells really good! Thank you so much for walking us through the whole process and for taking such amazing care of our Luna! We also loved playing with the adorable foster kittens!

Animal Artistry is a first rate grooming operation. April has been grooming my dogs for years and I have always walked out with dogs that smell lovely have fabulous haircuts. April is also very knowledgeable about dogs in general and has given me helpful advice on various topics from handling a pet afraid of thunder to how to keep ears clean and infection free. Entering the 'salon', I am always happily greeted by a multitude of dogs from her own dogs to the puppies and dogs she fosters. It is clear April is a deeply caring animal lover and I highly recommend Animal Artistry!

I want to share a story that touched my heart so very much about this dog-grooming business. My family just rescued a senior dog from a local facility and he was in terrible need of a bath and grooming to get rid of matting and help his visibility. I called the groomer that we had been using for years and other recommended groomers. No one could get us in for days. (Yeah, I know it is the holidays but I was desperate). Someone recommended April from Animal Artistry and I spoke with her on the phone and she could not have been more understanding, empathetic, and helpful. She SQUEEZED him in and assured me that she would not just shave him which is what some of the other groomers said would need to happen. He is now home and able to adjust to a new life on our house all comfy in his soft and fluffy fur. THANK YOU!!!

She does a great job and honestly loves animals. It's cash or check only. I only give 4 stars because there seems to always be an issue with the time the dogs will be done. They are never done on any reliable time. She even drove my dogs back to my house one time because she was so late, which was super nice and I was appreciative but I just wish the timing was consistent. I have two kids and we're a busy family most of the time so not knowing when my dogs will be done is disruptive. So if you don't mind the timing thing she does a great job and I'd recommend this place.

April at Animal Artistry is wonderful with grooming all kinds of dogs. She is great with the shy dogs and the dogs that are not used to being groomed. I love the way she can make an old dog look like a million bucks. If you need a groomer, take your dogs here! You won't be sorry.

There isn't any other groomer that I would recommend, other than April Perry at Animal Artistry. She has worked with Roll Over Animal Rescue for many years now, bathing, grooming and even fostering for our group. There have been many times that we have pulled senior dogs and grossly matted dogs from high kill shelters and the time and care she takes with each one of them is beyond incredible. She is gentle and kind with all the dogs, puppies and cats that she grooms for us. Because she is so skillful and gentle she has saved many coats on the dogs we rescue instead of just shaving them off, which can be even more painful for them. April and the shop employees are always there, sometimes even at 2am, when we need them to bathe, give flea bathes, or groom dogs that have come off the transport from Kentucky.Not only is she extremely skilled in grooming, she takes the time needed for each dog to make them comfortable during their visit there. Her continued help with our rescue is greatly appreciated................she is the first stop on their road to their forever homes.Thanks again, April for all your hard work and dedication to Roll Over Animal Rescue.

I have 2 Cavalier King Charles. I recently moved to area and looking for a bath and trim as expressed to owner, with the usual teeth clean etc. much to my dismay upon picking up, I barely recognized my pups. The long beautiful face and locks all shaved, top of heads shaved with scalps showing, and as if cut by a novel with a preschooler scissors. I see what would resemble crooked uneven bangs but this the trim aside their paws. I’m not a fancy person and had no unrealistic expectations other than my sweeties looking clean and fresh. Though larger tragedies we all know, but not the point as I’ve not seen two pups this botched till I googled the phrase and photos of other cavalier botches popped up. Yes the owner very nice but not about nice. I showed her the photos I had taken in person. She looked and said nothing.I now understand why only cash accepted. Email me if you’d like photos

Stay Away - April is the dog BUTCHER of Glenview! I literally did not recognize my poor puppy when I picked her up. Her beautiful fur looked like it had been hacked at with a dull hunting knife. To say her fur was uneven doesn’t begin to describe it. She also had a gouge under her eye, probably because this madwoman hacked at my puppies eyelashes. Who would do that? She cut off my pups beautiful lashes and left jagged stumps in their place. Just an absolutely horrendous groom and to add insult to injury, more expensive than the other wonderful places we’ve gone to in town. An all around awful experience.

Our three year old Scottish Terriers (Angus snd Fiona) were pampered with a bath and a haircut today. They look wonderful - certainly one of the best grooming that they've ever received. Our poodle has been groomed by Animal Artistry for six years now. April is an excellent groomer, and very knowledgeable about animals in general. She consults with her clients on grooming options for their pets. She builds rapport with her clientele, both animals and owners. If you are looking for a groomer, I would definitely recommend Animal Artistry.

Please don’t bring your dog there. I saw large dogs (3) in small cages. I was told when I called the day before for an appt as a new client she just had a cancellation but the was asked what time I wanted.When I brought in my little 11# dog at my 11 am appt time she ( was never told her name) said 4 hours was needed I returned at 3 and was told she needed a little more time “I’m not quite done”. Came back at 4; was working on another dog. When I asked for my dog back, her only helper did not even know my dog’s name. Called him “the happy one” And the so called haircut? Pretty awful. I had told the women he may be scared as he is a rescue who had not been cared for. Again, please don’t bring your dog there.

We’ve been bringing our two full-blooded, long-haired Persians here for about a year, usually it goes ‘ok’ but this last time she took 6.5 hours to shave my cat, explained they “cage-dry”.. Honey, my groomer in Grand Rapids, MI took 45 minutes and my cat looked stunning. First off, your clients shouldn’t have to wait for you to show up to your professional business 10 minutes after you open. On more than one occasion she takes significantly longer than she claims she needs over the phone.. once we go in our cat is under so much stress at that point, and she’s still shaving them. I asked for my cat and said she can be finished, I said this a few times and she continued to shave my cat.. On the way home my cat hissed at us and tried to bite us and you could tell she was very upset and afraid, I don’t know what happened in that time she was there but she’s never done that to us, I will not be returning to this place. Our cat also has quite a few nicks in her, where her skin is showing bare, it is a little damp and we’re keeping an eye on them to make sure it doesn’t get infected. Also, her shop is disgusting, revolting in fact, there’s junk everywhere, in the cages, in the front window, that has to be a reflection of the work ethic. I will never return to this place.
